They looked for him in the seas, rivers, lakes, but all in vain. Then the dolphins heard the exclamations and realized that the ruff was in the pond. There he intended to fight with crucian carp. This is the plot that P. P. Ershov came up with in verse. The fish-whale, to whom the sea reveler was brought, tells him to find a chest in which there was a ring.
