Historical information about the university

The medical school that exists today in Kirov was founded in 1987. It was not an independent university, but a branch of the Perm Medical Institute. Good conditions were immediately created for his work to begin. Firstly, the educational institution was given several buildings to house departments. Secondly, all nonresident teachers were provided with housing. The first classes at the university began in September 1987. Training was carried out at 2 faculties - medical and pediatric.

In 1993, the Kirov branch of the Perm Medical Institute left the first graduating class of doctors, and the next year a significant event occurred in the history of the university - it became an independent institution of higher education. Five years later, a similar transformation took place. For all its achievements and contributions to science and healthcare, the educational organization received a higher and more prestigious academy status.

The medical and pediatric faculties were the only ones in the institute at the time of its foundation. In subsequent years, the organizational structure of the educational institution expanded. For example, in 1996, the Faculty of Social Work appeared, and in 2001, the leadership of the Academy opened 2 faculties, which were related to higher nursing education, economics and merchandising.

Every year, the university not only expanded its organizational structure. Comfortable dormitories were built, and a huge 8-story academic building was erected. All of its classrooms were properly equipped - there was the necessary furniture and laboratory equipment.

In 2016, the university achieved recognition as a university. However, many students, graduates, and teachers continue to talk about the educational organization as an academy, because this name is associated with many years of work on the development of the university, memories of studying and classes with qualified teachers who made a certain contribution to the history of the Kirov State Medical Academy.

Today the Kirov Medical Academy, which has become a university, is a prestigious educational institution. There are 3 areas of bachelor's degree that are not related to medicine or medical practice. These are “Organization Management”, “Commodity Science” and “Social Work”. In the listed areas there is only a correspondence course of study. The duration of study is 5 years. There is also 1 undergraduate course related to the university profile - “Nursing”. It is taught only full-time for 4 years.

At the specialty, the Kirov Medical Academy offers applicants 5 specialties - “Medical Biochemistry”, “General Medicine”, “Pediatrics”, “Dentistry”, “Clinical Psychology”. Studying to become a biochemist, general practitioner and pediatrician takes 6 years full-time, to become a dentist - 5 years full-time, and to become a clinical psychologist - 5.5 years full-time or 6.5 years full-time. in absentia form.

Stages of admission to university

Admission to the Medical Academy (University) of Kirov is a difficult period in the life of people who decide to obtain a medical or other specialty. It can be divided into several stages. In medical specialties, results in chemistry, biology, and Russian are required. The second stage of admission is submitting an application and a package of documents during the admission campaign. The admissions committee of the Kirov Medical Academy begins work in June. Employees of this department do not recommend delaying the submission of documents, because enrollment at the university takes place in 2 waves. In the first wave, 80% of the main competitive places are filled, and in the second wave, the remaining 20%. As a rule, passing scores are higher in the second wave.

The third stage, if the results of the Unified State Exam are available, is waiting for the release of the order for enrollment and the publication of lists of applicants enrolled at the university on the information stand of the Kirov Medical Academy. School graduates cannot enroll without Unified State Exam results. The admissions committee does not accept documents from such applicants. Graduates of colleges and universities have the right to enter without USE results.
