A fairy tale about the robot Barry - cruise. Bedtime story Children's bedtime stories about a robot

Once upon a time there lived a Little Robot. He, like thousands of other small robots, was manufactured at the factory, and now he lived in this house, entertaining children and adults, and helping with housework. He acted strictly according to the program embedded in his electronic head. At eight o’clock in the morning, when mom and dad had to go to work, and the children had to go to school and kindergarten, Little Robot turned on the music and said: “It’s time to get up! It's time to get up! It’s already dawn, enough sleep!” In the evening, when everyone returned home, he told funny stories and everyone laughed. Before going to bed, he told the children an interesting story, and they fell asleep. And the next morning everything was repeated all over again. Sometimes, during the holidays, the whole family stayed at home, and Little Robot really wanted to laugh and have fun with everyone, like a real person, but he was just a soulless machine. Little Robot knew that he was a robot and that he would never be able to become a human. His body, made of metal and plastic, was somewhat similar to a human, but he did not have the most important thing - a heart. And yet all mechanisms fail sooner or later. The Little Robot understood that if he did not follow the orders laid down in his program, he would be taken to a repair shop, and perhaps even thrown into a landfill. But he could no longer live as before. Time after time he was left alone in this large empty house and acutely felt that no one needed him. Even the children who were his best friends were already used to him and did not pay any attention to his old jokes. Little Robot wanted to do something beautiful and magical.
One morning, after everyone had left, Little Robot came down into the yard. It took him a long time to go down: his iron legs were not adapted to the steps. Finally, he left the entrance and approached the playground. The ground around the site was trampled and there was trash everywhere. Little Robot, without hesitation, got down to business. He removed all the trash and cleaned the benches. And half an hour later, flower beds had already been planted around the site and two wonderful small gazebos had been built so that mothers and grandmothers could watch their babies.
- Hey, what's your name? – someone’s ringing voice rang out.
Little Robot turned around and saw a girl about eleven years old. She had beautiful long hair and big blue eyes like the sea. The Little Robot looked at her as if fascinated. She smiled...
“I’m Little Robot,” he said.
- What kind of robot are you? – the girl laughed, “You are the most ordinary boy.” Look at you: your pants are torn and your nose is all dirty...
The little Robot looked down and was stunned: instead of iron legs there were ordinary human legs, in blue trousers. There was a large hole on the left pant leg, right next to the knee. Instead of his clumsy hook-like grips, he saw hands with beautiful long fingers. He looked into the puddle. An unknown boy with a dirty nose was looking at him from a puddle.
- I will call you Misha, okay? – the girl asked. - It’s so cool: you are Misha, and I am Masha. Is it coming?
He nodded. Masha took his hand in hers, and they walked. And then they ran skipping, laughing merrily, through the endless meadow, which appeared from nowhere in this large and noisy city - in a city in which there are so many small robots, diligently carrying out the program laid down in them...

Transforming robots– another passion of my son. We read stories about them in comics, we collect figurines, watch cartoons. And here bedtime stories about transformers robots for children Couldn't find it on the Internet. I had to write my own stories featuring my favorite characters. Now not only we, but also other young robot lovers will be able to read them 😉

Autobots vs Thunderhoof

Strongarm and Bumblebee found Grimlock in the forest. Someone knocked him out.

“These must be Disepticons,” the robots thought.

—Are my arms and legs okay? – Grim asked confused.

It turned out everything was fine. Bumblebee and Strongarm asked him if he didn't get a good look at the attacker. But Grimlock only saw the horns approaching him, and then he was thrown to the ground with such a roar, as if against rocks.

Bumblebee suggested that Grimlock go to Fixit so that he could take a good look at it and, if necessary, repair it. Meanwhile, Bumblebee, Strongarm and Sideswipe headed to the Star Bridge construction site, not far from the dam, in the forest. The construction was led by the treacherous Decepticon Thunderhoof. It is notable for having antlers, like a deer. The bridge was built by people who were convinced by the villain Thunderhoof that he was the powerful mythical creature Cospigo.

Bumblebee told Thunderhoof that he was under arrest. It was absolutely forbidden to build this Star Bridge. He is unstable and very dangerous. But the villain did not want to give up. Bumblebee had to use force and enter the battle. It is necessary at all costs to put Thunderhoof in a capsule and send him back to Cybertron.

During the battle, the robots did not notice how they approached the Star Bridge. After prolonged resistance, Bumblebee managed to throw Thunderhoof away, he flew into the Black Hole and fell into the portal.

Thunderhoof flew in an unknown direction. No one knew how the Star Bridge would work and where the villain would be this time. And he ended up... again on planet Earth, in the same forest. Thunderhoof managed to teleport nearby. Having barely woken up after traveling across the Star Bridge, he heard a rustling sound. Stiljaw came out of the forest to meet him. This is another Disepticon villain, he looks like a wolf. The cunning Stiljaw suggested doing evil deeds together. You can find out what happened next if you watch the cartoon.

There is safety in numbers

The Autobot robot Strongarm, who held the rank of cadet, went on her first independent mission. She was driving along an empty abandoned road and dreamed of how she herself would catch a Decepticon and for this would receive the rank of sergeant, then lieutenant, and then, perhaps, become president... Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of an engine. It turned out that it was Bumblebee who was following her. Strongarm became angry because she considered the surveillance to be a lack of confidence in her abilities and training. But Bumblebee was simply worried and worried about his partner, how she was doing alone... After all, Decepticons can be very dangerous.

Bumblebee promised that he would not interfere with Strongarm and would let her complete the task on her own. He will just watch. Well, what can you do, you need to obey your elders.

And finally, Bumblebee and Strongarm tracked down the Decepticon. According to Fixit, it turned out to be the amphiboid Springload. People would describe him as having gone off the rails. He is obsessed with finding the legendary Cybertronian city of Doradus, which contains a fountain of energon, which gives enormous strength and energy.

Stubborn and self-confident, Strongarm insisted that she could handle the Decepticon alone and refused reinforcements.

Strongarm and Bumblebee continued to track down the Decepticon. Traces and fresh damage on the plants led them to a mysterious door. The Autobots entered it and found a Decepticon there. Bumblebee thought they needed to come up with a plan to capture Springlode, but Strongarm decided to take action! She came out of hiding and told the Decepticon to surrender. The villain had the ability to spray acid on his opponent as a built-in defense mechanism.

Springlode escaped through a hole in the wall. Strongarm ruined everything with her rash actions. She realized this and asked Bumblebee to give her another chance. Now she promised not to be so stubborn, to act according to the rules and together.

Bumblebee and Strongarm caught up with Springlode, but he attacked them with his acidic tongue. This time it went to Lieutenant Bumblebee. When he came to his senses, Strongarm finally asked him to leave his role as an observer and help her.

The robot Bumblebee suggested using huge stone boxes to capture the Decepticon. In the voice of the spirit of Doradus, whom Springload worshiped, he said that he was not worthy of the treasure. Springlode was shocked by this and while he was at a loss, Bumblebee covered him with a stone box. The villain is trapped!

This is how, together, the Autobots managed to deal with the villain. Strongarm realized that it is easier to cope with difficulties together with a friend and sometimes it is still worth asking for help.

Baaaamblebee,” Sam yelled as Megatron leaned towards him with his plasma cannon activated. Place Bee Optimus responded to the man's call. He immediately face-planted Megatron. Megs flew to the side. “Run Sam,” Optimus shouted, shooting at Starscream as he flew up to his master, “get out of here, Decepticon spawn. You will regret coming to this planet many times over.” “I will destroy you, slagged Underprime,” shouted the Decepticon leader. “We’ll see about that later, a piece of scrap metal,” answered the leader of the Autobots. “I just polished my armor,” Skrim whined. Prime, distracted by the Tyrant of Heaven, did not notice how Megs was aiming at him with his super-gun. But suddenly a yellow scout stood between Megatron and Optimus. - NO Bam... - the blue-red Autobot didn’t have time to finish when a shell hit Bumblebee and he flew back, knocking Prime off his feet. For some reason, the gray Decepticon stopped smiling and, having transformed, disappeared along with his fighters. Ratchet ran up to the wounded commander, but Optimus told him, “I’m fine, help Bee,” and standing up together with the military doctor, he rushed to the minibot.

Bumblebee woke up in the medical bay at the NEST base. Ratchet wasn't in the room, so Bee wanted to get up. But as soon as he moved, a wild pain pierced his entire body; the weakness accompanying it turned out to be so great that he didn’t even want to turn his head. Everything in the eyepieces began to ripple, but this did not last long. The only joy for Bumblebee was that there was no Ratchet in the compartment. If he had now seen Bee’s “extra” movements, the scout’s audio sensors would have already burned out from the medbot’s screams and curses,

Meanwhile, Prime was talking with Ironhide about a new battle strategy. “PRAAAAIM,” the gunsmith shouted, unable to bear another “deepening in thought” of Optimus. He immediately perked up, straightened up, noisily ventilated the ventilation system, and focused his eyepieces on Hyde. “Sir, I ask you, listen to the strategy, perhaps it will help us win,” the specialist said with irritation in his voice. on weapons. “I’m listening to you,” Prime lied. “Yeah, I see how you’re listening,” Ironhide grumbled, “so what’s your processor full of?” Without waiting for an answer, he began to grumble that Optimus wasn’t listening, then pulled out a datapad, thrust it into the commander’s hands and said, “Here it’s all laid out.” accessible and understandable, if you have questions, ask them to me. “I went to find Jazz and take it out on him,” the black Autobot was indignant as he left. Optimus looked blankly at the datapad in his manipulators, put it in his subspace pocket and quickly went somewhere.

Jazz entered his compartment happy because he had just won a race, but the happiness did not last long. A disgruntled gunsmith sat on its platform, but when he saw the lieutenant he smiled slightly. “And here you are,” “The Great and Terrible” Ironhide hissed triumphantly. “Your tribute,” was all Jazz could squeeze out. He was about to rush to the door, but a heavy manipulator squeezed his shoulder. -Well, where have you been? Although, let me guess. Hm. I PROBABLY WENT TO ANOTHER UNDERGROUND RACE, MISSING TECHNICAL INSPECTION, 15 TRAININGS AND AN IMPORTANT FIGHT,” Hyde yelled at the would-be racer who had already shrunk into a small piece of gray metal, “DID I GUESS IT?” “I guess so?” Jazz mumbled. -30 CIRCLES AROUND THE BASE, 450 PUSH-UPS, AND THEN TO THE RANGE, - his “trainer” “affectionately” told the lieutenant the further plan of action

“Yeah, I woke up,” Ratchet said to Bumblebee lying on the repair platform, “and how are you?” “It’s terrible,” Bee didn’t lie, the pain didn’t go away. “Well, it’s clear that it’s terrible,” the Medic quickly scanned his patient, “take a drink.” -What is this? -Energon. -What is he with? -You can’t hide anything from you! With light deactivator*. Some time after Bee drank Energon with a deactivator, Ratchet left the compartment and immediately ran into Prime. “How’s Bumblebee?” asked Optimus. “The wound is deep, I’m afraid it’s impossible to save him without Cybertronian tools,” the medic said with difficulty. “So he’ll go to Primus,” the Autobot leader concluded sadly.

Bumblebee was much better, the pain was already weak, but there was practically no charge left. I urgently needed to recharge. But when the scout heard voices coming from the street, he immediately increased the power of his audio sensors to maximum. No. Can not understand anything. Heard, but not clear. Out of frustration, Bee suddenly relaxed and immediately fell into an anxious state...

The Tale of Barry the Robot

Cruise.

And so, in such an ordinary family, where there were Papa Mama and their children, Pashka and Elya, there lived the robot Barry. Barry handled everything. He helped dad wash the car, carried bags of groceries, looked after the house and repaired equipment. He helped my mother do laundry, wash dishes, clean the house and even cook a little. For children, Barry was the best friend, because he not only put away the toys and rolled them on his iron shoulders when they were tired from walks, but also played ball with them and read bedtime stories if dad was late at work.

But one day, Dad and Mom decided to go on a sea cruise, this is when a large large ship, called a liner, sails across the seas and oceans and stops at the ports of interesting cities. On such a ship, you cannot take home robots with you, because the liner has its own robots that help passengers, and Barry had to stay at home.

The whole family said goodbye to Barry and went on a cruise for two whole weeks. Although Barry was sad, he did not give in to emotions, he washed and ironed all the things, washed all the floors, washed his dad’s car again and plugged in to charge. When Barry has nothing to do, which is of course very rarely, he always gets up to charge and goes into sleep mode - this is when all his engines are turned off, and he just listens, waiting for new tasks.

Without receiving a new task, Barry came out of sleep mode, checked that everything was in order at home, removed dust, watered flowers, and went into sleep mode again. So two weeks passed, waiting for the family to return.

Barry woke up again to prepare for his arrival. He laid clean bed linen for everyone, put plates on the table, and increased the heating of the house. But no one came. Barry waited three more days, but again no one showed up. Another day passed and Barry began to worry why Pashka, Elya and Dad and Mom hadn’t arrived yet. Barry couldn't wait any longer, he decided to act. Barry turned on Wi-Fi, connected to the network and went online. There he found the number of the liner on which his friends were sailing and learned terrible news: the ship with his family and all the other tourists had disappeared in the ocean and was not in contact.

Barry began to think what could happen, what if dad didn’t have his shirts ironed, mom didn’t have anything to cook dinner from, and Pashka and Elka had no one to play with? What happens if they are not found?

Barry decided that there was no point in waiting, he needed to go immediately and save those in trouble. Barry was a house robot and didn't really know what to do. It's good that he was not just a house robot, but also a very smart house robot. He connected to the Internet again and looked at a map of the place where the liner was last seen - it was in the ocean, and the ocean is a very, very large lake, with no edges or shores visible. Barry decided that he would find a boat and find them in the ocean, but he still needed to get to the ocean. But how? “Yeah! By car!" Barry had an epiphany. “I’ll drive a car to the ocean, and there I’ll find a boat or speedboat.”

Barry walked up to his dad's car and realized that he didn't know how to drive it, because only dad was always behind the wheel. Barry went online and watched the video instructions. From the very beginning, Barry loved to learn, because when you know a lot, you can do a lot and in every situation you will find a solution. So Barry immediately memorized all the instructions and got behind the wheel.

Barry drove and drove, not stopping to rest, he only thought about how to quickly get to the ocean to save his household. He drove all day, houses, cities, fields and forests flew around, but the ocean was still very far away. Suddenly a light came on in the car. Then the car slowed down and stopped completely.

“What’s the matter,” Barry thought. He reconnected to the network and realized that the car, like himself, needed to be charged. Barry looked around but didn't see any charger. Barry could push the car, but then his own battery would quickly drain. He had no choice but to go forward on foot. After walking quite a bit, Barry saw a truck standing on the side of the road. A sad older man was sitting next to the truck.

What's happened. - Barry asked carefully.

My truck has a flat tire and I can't drive any further. I’m bringing treats to the children; today is their holiday and if I don’t come, they will be very upset. - The driver said.

Why don't you change the tire? - Barry was surprised.

I'm too old to lift a truck wheel. - The driver answered sadly.

I will help you and the children. - Barry said, took out the wheel, removed the punctured one and quickly screwed the new one into place.

Done - you can go see your children! - Barry said.

Thank you so much, robot, I didn’t know that home robots could be so smart. - The driver said enthusiastically. -Where are you going, can it let you down?

I'm driving to the ocean to save my friends, but the battery in my car is dead, so I'm walking.

Why didn’t you say right away, I can charge your car, I have a full charge and a very powerful battery. - The driver said.

Of course Barry agreed. The truck driver pulled up to Dad's car, charged it, and Barry hit the road again. The robot drove all night and all day, because the robot does not need rest. And finally, behind the hills and forests, mountains appeared. The road ran between them and the endless expanse of the ocean appeared in the distance. After another half an hour, Barry found himself in the port city. Ships sailed to this city, loaded or unloaded cargo, which was then transported by car throughout the continent.

Barry stopped at one of the piers (a pier is a bridge in the water where ships dock, like cars in a parking lot) and ran to a small sea boat.

Hello. - Barry said to the man standing on the boat.

“Hello,” he replied.

I need to find my friends, they disappeared on the ship and perhaps they have no one to wash their clothes or cook food. - Barry said excitedly.

Of course, my boat is at your service, I am its captain. You have money? -He said.

Money? - Barry was surprised, he didn’t know that in order to save his friends, money was needed.

Tell me, where can I get money? - Barry asked the captain.

Look. - The captain said, pointing to a huge cargo ship. -On this ship, the loader robots have broken down, and the ship needs to sail tomorrow, if you can help load it with cargo, then you will receive money.

Barry immediately went to load the ship. Barry worked all night, and by morning, unexpectedly for everyone, he loaded the entire ship. The broken robot loaders of the port blinked their lights at him as gratitude, and the sailors and the captain of the ship awarded him applause for such a feat, and of course they gave him money for an honest job done.

Let's hit the road! - Barry said happily, climbing onto the boat.

And the captain and Barry rushed into the open ocean. Their journey lasted several more days before they arrived at the place where the liner was last seen.

I know how to search - I Googled it. - Barry said importantly, meaning that he had already read everything about searching on the Internet.

We will move in a large circle, then, like a spiral, we will make the circle smaller, and for sure, somewhere we will meet the liner.

So they did, and for another night and half a day they walked in circles. Because, as the captain explained, ships do not sail or travel, but rather walk.

Garbage floats, and we walk on the waves. - He added importantly, and then asked:

What are we going to do, the ship is not visible?

I need to think. - And the robot froze, connecting to the network.

Suddenly a dot appeared in the sky and began to increase in size.

What is this? - asked the captain, pointing to the point.
Barry turned his head towards the point, turned on the magnification on his cameras and his eyes - the lenses - moved forward.

This is a bird. - Barry said. - The seagull is the most numerous genus of birds of the gull family, living both in the sea and in inland waters...

While Barry was telling all the information about the seagulls, the bird flew up to the boat and plopped down onto the deck.

Hey, fly away, you'll dirty my boat. - The captain got angry and began to chase away the seagull.

Wait. - Barry stopped him. - This is not an ordinary seagull, it has something on its leg.

The captain took a closer look and really saw that there was something tied to the bird’s paw.

Barry took a step towards the seagull, but it grunted angrily and ran further away.

No, Barry, you need to make friends with animals! - The captain said and went into the cabin, then returned with a bag in his hands.

These are crab flavored chips, feed her.

The robot took the chips and began throwing them to the seagull. The bird was clearly hungry and began to gobble up the chips one by one, and then flew up and sat on Barry to be closer to the bag of potatoes. Barry saw that a rolled-up piece of paper was tied to the paw. He carefully untied it from his paw and unfolded the piece of paper:

“Dear rescuers, our liner is not lost, we are safe and healthy, but the refrigerators are not working because all the electricity has broken down. Save us, because the passengers don’t know how to cook their own food, and the robot assistants are already out of charge. This is our latitude and longitude."

Barry showed the note to the captain and he said with a smile:

We found them! Latitude and longitude are the coordinates of the place where the airliner is located.

Like this? - Asked Barry, who still didn’t know anything about the coordinates.

Every place on earth has its own coordinates, which are measured by latitude and longitude; knowing them, you can get there from anywhere. Like your navigator! - Said the captain, pleased that he was able to teach something to such a smart robot.

So go ahead! - the happy Barry commanded and their boat rushed to the right place, and the seagull remained sitting on the deck and finishing the chips.

An hour later, dark smoke appeared in the distance, and then the outlines of a huge liner became visible. Barry brought the lenses closer and saw the ship closer. On all the decks, here and there, there were people, some were just lying, some were frying food over a fire, some were sitting and crying. Among the people, there were many robotic assistants frozen in place.

But one, a human silhouette, stood out from all of them. It was a short man who stood and looked through binoculars. At some point, he saw a boat with a robot and raised his hand up and a red flame burst out of his hand, then a burning red ball flew into the sky and, rising high above the ship, went out.

It's a rocket launcher, they see us. - Said the captain. - A rocket launcher is like fireworks, only special for ships. They see the signal from a flare gun from afar and immediately rush to help.

All the people on the liner came up to the sides and began waving and shouting towards the approaching boat. And the man who launched the rocket was Pashka, he ran towards the boat and shouted with a big smile on his face!

Mom, Dad, Elya, it's Barry, he found us!

Barry, without asking anyone, quickly loaded dad, mom, Elya and Pashka onto the boat and commanded the captain:

Go home urgently!

No! - Pashka said.

The robot and the captain looked at him in surprise.

We need to save all the other passengers on the ship. - Pashka said seriously.

Okay, I’ll cook them all something to eat, wash and iron their clothes, and we’ll hit the road. - Barry said decisively.

Or maybe it would be better to fix the electricity and then Barry wouldn’t have to do the work for everyone?

Certainly! - Dad said. -This is the most reasonable solution. There are still a lot of rats on the ships, and they could gnaw the wires, making a home for themselves, but how to find this place on such a huge ship?

“I know how,” said the robot Barry, “I have a gozo analyzer, it works like a human nose, but the sensitivity is much higher.”

Elya and Mom went to the kitchen of the boat, where the captain began to treat them to food, and Dad, Pashka and Barry went to look for the place of the breakdown.

Dad took the ship's plan from the captain and showed it to Barry, and they began to move around the ship. The ship's plan is the rooms and corridors of the liner drawn on paper. There were a lot of corridors and rooms on the ship - so in order not to walk in the same places, they checked the plan. Walking down one of the corridors, Barry stopped.

Dad and Barry quickly connected the wires, patched them with electrical tape, and the captain ran to turn on the generator. As soon as the generator was turned on, the entire liner came to life.

The frozen robot assistants went to charge, people ran to their cabins to wash themselves and cool down under the air conditioning. Robot cleaners, robot waiters and robot cooks began to drive back and forth.

How did you find us! - Said the happy captain.

This is Barry, our home robot. - Dad said, patting Barry on the iron shoulder.

If it weren't for the note on the seagull's leg, we wouldn't have found you. - Barry said.

So that's why you fed this bird. - The captain said, looking at little Pashka. - I also wanted to scold you for wasting food.

Yes, my dad always tells me that I should never give up, so I came up with the idea of tying a note with our coordinates to the seagull. - Pashka said enough.

The liner decided to continue the cruise, but the whole family, Elya, Mom, Dad and Pashka, decided to go home on a boat, along with Barry, because they were already tired of the adventure. And the satisfied, well-fed, clean passengers of the liner saw off Barry and Pashka like real heroes. One of the passengers was an artist, he gave Pashka a painting where Barry was drawn and a seagull was sitting on his shoulder, with a note on its paw. They took the picture with them. Their boat rushed towards the house, and all the passengers of the liner waved after them for a long time.

When the family arrived home, dad and Barry hung this picture on the wall to remind them of the unusual adventure and wonderful rescue of the cruise ship by the pet robot Barry and the brave little Pashka.

The sheep obediently jumped over the chair and disappeared. Caterino instantly tried to imagine a second sheep, but as it materialized from the foggy cloud, the chair ran away. I had to start all over again. When he returned the chair to its place, the sheep did not want to jump over it.
Caterino looked at his watch and saw with horror that it took four hours to recreate just two sheep. He jumped up and rushed to the kitchen to once again iron Professor Corti's trousers, forgotten on the chair.
“Well,” he consoled himself, “I made one sheep jump. Don’t give up, Katerino, don’t lose faith in success. Tomorrow there will be two sheep, the day after tomorrow three, and in the end you will win.”
I won’t bore you with the story of how much effort this fight with the sheep cost Katerino. But after three months he counted a hundred sheep jumping over the chair. He didn’t see the hundred and first sheep because he fell asleep in a sweet dream. He slept for only a few minutes, but there was no doubt that it had finally happened. The hands of the wristwatch irrefutably testified to this. At the end of the week, the robot had already slept for three hours! And for the first time he had a dream: Caterino dreamed that Professor Isidoro Corti was cleaning his shoes and tying his tie. A wonderful, delightful dream!
The time has come to tell you that the respected Professor Tibolla lived on the other side of the street. One night he woke up from unbearable thirst and went to the kitchen to drink a glass of cold water. Before going back to bed, he glanced out of habit out of the living room window. And in the window of Professor Tibolla’s living room, Professor Corti’s living room was reflected - the windows were opposite. What appeared to the surprised Professor Tibolla? The lights were on in his colleague's living room, and Caterino's robot was sleeping in the innocent sleep of a baby. As Tibolla listened, he heard a light whistle coming from Professor Corti's living room. So, to top it all off, this robot snores in its sleep?!
Professor Tibolla opened the window and, as if he were in pajamas, not afraid of a cold, leaned out and shouted with all his might:
- Anxiety! Anxiety! Anxiety!
In a few minutes the whole street woke up, and windows and doors opened with a bang in every house. People in nightgowns and pajamas ran out onto the balconies. Some, having learned what had happened, went out into the street and crowded near the house of Professor Isidoro Corti.
Awakened by loud screams, the professor and his wife ran to the window.
- What's happened? Earthquake? - they asked in fear.
- Much worse! - Professor Tibolla shouted. - You are sleeping on dynamite, dear colleague!
“You see, I study ancient history,” said Professor Corti. And in ancient times, as you know, dynamite did not exist. It was invented much later.
“We are quiet, peaceful people,” Signora Louise added timidly. - And we don’t bother anyone. True, Rolando broke the neighbors' glass yesterday with a soccer ball, but we agreed to compensate for the losses. I don't understand why...
“You better go to the living room,” Professor Tibolla interrupted her.
Signor Isidoro and Signora Luisa looked at each other in bewilderment and unanimously decided that they had no choice but to follow the strange advice. And they headed to the living room.
All this time Katerino slept soundly. There was a slight smile on his metallic face. He snored, but so musically and rhythmically that the light whistling and humming could easily be compared to playing a violin or cello. Professor Corti and his wife stared in horror at the sleeping robot.
- Katerino! - Signora Louise cried with tears in her voice.
- Katerino! - Professor Corti shouted much more sternly.
From the street, Professor Tibolla barked like a policeman:
- We need a hammer here! Take a hammer, my friend, and give him a good whack on the head. And if that doesn’t help, run a current through it.
The professor found a hammer in the kitchen and raised it over the robot's head.
- Be careful! - Signora Louise pleaded. - You know how much it cost us. After all, we still haven’t made the final payment.
Everywhere - on the street, on balconies, in windows - people held their breath. In the silence of the night, the blows of the hammer sounded like the blows of fate knocking on the door. Boom Boom Boom!
Finally, Katerino yawned, stretched, and rubbed his arm. A unanimous “Ah!” was heard from all observation points. Caterino jumped up and at the same moment realized that, besides Professor Corti, almost half the city was watching his awakening.
- I was asleep? - he asked.
Oh God! This impudent person still dares to ask such a question!
At the same second, the howl of a siren was heard. The police, alerted by a zealous parishioner from the house opposite, rushed to do their part to resolve the issue. It turned out to be very simple and unambiguous: they put steel handcuffs on Katerino, loaded him into a van and took him to court. The sleepy judge sentenced the poor fellow to two weeks in prison.
The judge was a cunning and experienced man. He advised the police not to disclose the unpleasant story. That's why the next day not a single newspaper informed its readers about the robot's crime. However, the scene of Caterino’s awakening was observed not only by people, but also by numerous domestic robots. The closest to the scene was Teresio, Professor Tibolla's robot. He prudently did not interfere in the lively conversation between his master and Professor Corti, but, standing at the kitchen window, eagerly hung on every word. And in the neighboring houses, robots have pricked up their ears. Moreover, on Thursday, when the robots were free from work and gathered in the city park, Teresio told his friends in detail about the incredible event.
- Would you believe it, Katerino slept exactly like people. No, even more beautiful. He did not snore, like many of them, but made wonderful, musical sounds. It was a real electronic symphony!
The robots listened to his story with the greatest excitement. In their metal heads, endowed with an electronic brain, like a current discharge of three thousand volts, the thought flashed: “But we too can fall asleep.” The main thing is to comprehend the system of preparing and recreating sleep. But so far only Katerino knew about this, and he, alas, was in prison. So, wait until Katerino comes out of captivity and reveals the secret to them? No, that would be unworthy of robots with a perfect electronic brain.
Teresio found a way out. He knew that Caterino was especially friendly with Professor Corti's children. Little Rolando, whose trust Teresio won with the help of chewing gum, told him that, apparently, Caterino managed to count the sheep jumping over the fence.
That same night, Teresio tried to repeat Caterino’s experiment and, imagine, he was immediately successful. However, this is not surprising, since the greatest difficulties usually fall to the lot of the discoverer, and the rest follow the beaten path.
Three nights later, the residents of the city were awakened by unusual music: thousands of robots, sitting in armchairs, on marble kitchen tables, on balconies among pots of geraniums, on carpets, slept and whistled very melodiously in their sleep. The police were stunned by the incessant phone calls. But she couldn’t arrest all the robots in Rome! And there is no prison of this size in the city.
The judge who sentenced Caterino to two weeks in prison, speaking on television, suggested that the authorities negotiate with the robots. Actually, the authorities had no choice. After all, you really shouldn’t introduce night shifts of policemen and firefighters armed with hammers! And this was the only way to prevent the robots from falling asleep. But because of the roar of the hammers, the people themselves would not be able to close their eyes!
The authorities of Rome had to enter into an agreement with the robots. After Rome it was the turn of Milan, Turin, Marseille, London and Timbuktu.
When Caterino left prison, he was greeted by tens, no, hundreds of thousands of robots. They shouted: “Hurray for our glorious Katerino!” and applauded loudly. And Vibialdi, the home robot of the conductor of the tram orchestra, composed a wonderful hymn for such a solemn occasion:
Katerino is super smart,
Invented a wonderful dream.
Every robot will know
How nice it is to sleep at night.
With the singing of the anthem and friendly shouts of “Evviva!” robots walked through the ancient streets of Rome. And, I must say, the kindly Romans, forgetting about their annoyance, clapped their hands together.
However, if there is anything sacred and inviolable in Rome, it is sleep. Romans love to sleep at night, they love to sleep during the day, but they especially love to sleep in the afternoon. One very respectable scientist, having analyzed the story of Caterino, presented his conclusions on two thousand four hundred pages, and his plump work was richly illustrated with color photographs.
A worthy crown of his deep research was the following passage, concluding this outstanding creation of scientific thought:
“Only in Rome could the idea of inventing sleep be born in the brain of an electronic robot. No other city in the world has or could have had such favorable conditions for such an original discovery.”
