At the HSE Day, applicants and first-year students plunge headlong into the life of the university. They will be able to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of HSE by participating in the Pervak Way educational quest, getting to know a variety of student organizations and, of course, attending the Open Doors Day of all educational programs of the university.

Extracurricular life at HSE is dynamic, varied and different for everyone. It is created by the students themselves from 150 student organizations. They stage professional performances in theaters, play in the orchestra, sing in the choir, and organize major HSE events. Develop "green thinking" and do charity work. Quest "The Way of Pervak"

The Path of Pervak is an exciting quest that will help you learn everything and even more about HSE. The quest was created specifically to prepare freshmen for the upcoming studies. These are 20 points with tasks, the solution of which will allow you to immerse yourself in student life and gain useful skills for studying in the first year. Commemorative prizes will go to those who manage to pass at least 15 checkpoints and complete all the necessary tasks. All this can be done using a special HSE Day application, which can be downloaded from the AppStore and Google Play. All information on the quest is in a separate menu item. And for fans of the old school, there will be a printed version of the card at the information desk and in the tent for issuing prizes.

HSE Lyceum

Traditional initiation into lyceum students, touching parting words from the management, answers to questions about admission and studies — come and get acquainted with the HSE Lyceum at the pier on Pushkinskaya Embankment. Science and Technology

Especially for fans of technological innovations, the Science and Technology platform will be organized at the HSE Day. The Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics of the Higher School of Economics, the Experimental Design Laboratory, the Faculty of Physics and the Department of Psychology of the Higher School of Economics will present robots, various applications, brain-computer interfaces and other student technological developments that can be tested.

Institute of Cognitive Neurosciences invites you to take part in visual experiments with an eye-tracker - a device that determines the coordinates of the gaze and its movement during the perception of a visual stimulus, and learn what a computer brain is and how it works.

Students and staff Faculty of Physics will be happy to show real physical experiments and explain them scientifically. Light polarization experiments will be carried out by second-year students, winners of the 2017 All-Russian Olympiad in Physics. They will show how, when a laser illuminates a cooled fructose solution, it is possible to detect atypical light propagation inside a vessel with a solution. Researchers from the Institute of Physical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences will use liquid nitrogen to demonstrate how unexpectedly various objects that surround us in everyday life can behave under strong cooling.

Laboratory of experimental design of cities "Shukhov Lab" talk about current trends in urbanism and urban planning. Guests of HSE Day will be able to see a prototype of a sustainable housing block, presented at the Moscow Urban Forum, created by teachers and students of the Master's program Prototyping Future Cities.

The "Sustainable Housing Prototype" will show how space can be used to its maximum potential, resources allocated and urban communities created. Thanks to the use of wood and alternative energy sources, the amount of harmful emissions is reduced at all stages from production to operation of the building. The augmented reality model will allow anyone who wants to take a closer look at the design of a residential complex of the future.

The model was developed at the Shukhov Lab of the Higher School of Urban Studies at the National Research University Higher School of Economics by students of the Master's program in Prototyping Future Cities under the guidance of Vicente Guallart, Elena Mitrofanova, and Ivan Mitrofanov.

Laboratories of the HSE Department of Psychology this year they are invited to the world of optical illusions: they offer to try on invertoscopes and take part in the experiments “Boche Chair” and “Augmented Reality: Painted World”.

Laboratories MIEM NRU HSE prepared two zones at once. In the zone of virtual and augmented reality, the developments of students of the educational laboratory of 3D visualization and computer graphics will be presented. You will be able to immerse yourself in virtual worlds with the help of glasses and helmets, as well as feel the inertia of human vision when working with pseudo-holographic POV displays. In the zone of additive technologies and prototyping, everyone will be able to get acquainted with the device of a 3D printer and the principles of its operation, not only in theory, but also in practice. You can take a memorable souvenir from the site with you - printed on a 3D printer or made with a 3D pen.

This year, for the first time, one of the participants in the Science and Technology platform will be Sberbank— general partner of HSE Day. The company will demonstrate its own innovative development, the Niku robot, which the bank's customers will be able to communicate with in the near future. It works on the basis of an artificial intelligence system developed by the company and is a so-called presence robot that is synchronized with the operator and reproduces his actions. He knows how to answer the client's questions, reacts to his emotions, and can even demonstrate his own, which can be seen at the HSE Day.

Since 2013, as part of the University Open to the City project, HSE has been holding events covering a variety of topics — from cult cinema to marketing, anthropology, economics, and game design. In some countries this art is called "dancing colors". This is a unique technique of drawing on water, which results in unique paintings. It is simply impossible to create two identical pictures!

All lovers of modern technology are invited to a master class on modeling three-dimensional models using 3D pens. “What mediatization of politics leads to: the case of Scotland”

Speaker: Polina Guseva, master's degree in Comparative Social Research.

Every day we consume a huge amount of information in different forms through various media. In the struggle for an audience, the media come up with more and more new formats that greatly influence how we evaluate this or that event. This is especially evident in the sphere of politics, whose interaction with the media has changed over the past decades, as the role of the media has increased in society as a whole. The strengthening of the role of the media in the political sphere has been called the mediatization of politics in the literature. Using the analysis of media coverage of the 2014 Scottish independence referendum as an example, I will show how mediatization contributed to changing the thematic agenda of this event.

"The Political Imagination in Rick and Morty"

Thus, as part of the analysis of the boundaries of permissibility, the animated series "Rick and Morty" explores how social norms are formed and actualizes the issue of the relativity of human perception: thanks to travels in different worlds with a specific device, norms are comprehended, through which it is possible to assess the degree of development of existing societies. in other dimensions.

"Sexism against men: the role of gender stereotypes"

Speaker: Vlad Krivoshchekov, master's degree in Comparative Social Research.

Over the past two decades, research on sexism against men has begun to emerge. Thus, the theory of ambivalent sexism appeared - a dual (benevolent and hostile) attitude towards women and men. Such relationships can predict assessment and preference in choosing a partner for romantic or family relationships. However, no research has yet explored the significance of gender stereotypes in this process. How are gender stereotypes related to ambivalent attitudes towards men? What role do these stereotypes play in assessing men who fulfill or violate the role traditionally assigned to them? These are the questions I will try to answer in my presentation.

"Determinants of the consumer confidence index on the example of the United States"

The Consumer Confidence Index shows how optimistic we are about the economic situation going forward. Answering the question "Will tomorrow be better than yesterday?" People make decisions. In this regard, completely different factors can affect our degree of confidence: GDP indicators, rising prices for transport or products, the level of wages, etc. But what, in turn, causes the population to change their forecasts? What does the average person rely on when imagining a bright or dark future for the economy of their country? How can the state most effectively influence the mood of its citizens and launch economic growth? These questions can be answered in my research.

RACE "5 KM TO DEADLINE"

How to do everything in time is one of the main questions that all HSE students ask themselves. Deadline is a sacred figure that scares students even before they enter HSE, although academics know that this is a dangerous opponent. On HSE Day, we invite all HSE students to experience a symbolic victory over the deadline together by taking part in the “5 km to the deadline” race.

This is not the first mass run by the Higher School of Economics, but for the first time it will be held as part of the HSE Day. In the past, anti-anniversary year, we ran from the darkness of ignorance, disarming stupidity and bad grades, and this year we will run for the joy of a task completed on time.

On HSE Day, we will run 5 km along Pushkinskaya and Andreevskaya embankments - from the Green Theater to the Luzhnetsky Bridge.

The terms of participation

Participation in the race is free. The participant also has the opportunity to make a cash contribution to the Higher School of Economics. A medical certificate from a doctor is not required, as is usually the case in marathons, but we hope that you yourself will soberly assess the state of your health. In this regard, we draw the attention of the participants to the fact that it is necessary to familiarize themselves with the rules of the race, as well as the participant's questionnaire.

Persons over the age of 14 can take part in the race. Participants from 14 to 18 years old are allowed to compete upon presentation of a written consent to participate in the race from one of the parents (legal representative) with a copy of the parent's (legal representative's) passport.
