Cold is a friend, not an enemy. Benefits of cold temperatures for beauty and health

Winter has come early now - there have been no frosts in October for a long time. Weather forecasters assure: it is serious and for a long time. Director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand promised that the coming winter will be the coldest in almost a quarter of a century: the average temperature in Moscow will be 10 degrees below zero, with possible drops from minus 8 during the day to minus 28 at night. Chairman of the Presidium of the Tyumen Scientific Center of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Academician Vladimir Melnikov made a longer forecast. According to him, the next 30-35 winters will be cold. The fact is that there are climatic cycles in the world. The previous cycle was warm and, according to the academician, should have ended several years ago, but it dragged on due to increased solar activity. Now nature will take over.

There is an old joke about how the profession of a financial analyst was invented so that weather forecasters looked good against their background. Recently, links to comments by experts have become popular on social networks, who a couple of months ago urged not to buy foreign currency, since, they say, there are no prerequisites for the ruble to fall. Nevertheless, we still decided to turn to analysts to find out how the expected cooling could affect the Russian economy.

The first pancake came out lumpy. The leading expert of a large management company, on condition of anonymity, lashed out at competitors-forecasters. In his opinion, the Hydrometeorological Center does not have a sufficient scientific base to predict even the coming winter, not to mention the long-term period. This means that talking about the coming cold snap is the same as talking about the fall of a giant meteorite or the arrival of aliens - it is impossible to predict them with a sufficient degree of certainty. In this regard, he categorically refused to talk about what would happen to the Russian economy in the event of a frosty climate cycle.

Sergey Kondratyev, head of the Industry and Infrastructure sector at the Institute of Energy and Finance, in turn, sees the most tangible plus from the cold snap in a noticeable increase in both domestic and external demand for energy. Thanks to this, GDP will receive an additional 1% annually, Kondratyev believes. Positive changes will be felt not only by the oil and gas industry, but also by the coal industry - we export coal to China, Japan and South Korea. The downside in this case will be an increase in the costs of citizens who are forced to pay for space heating. However, the government, if desired, will be able to compensate the costs of low-income Russians at the expense of increased oil and gas revenues.

The second hypothetical plus for Russia will be the complication of the ice situation on the Northern Sea Route. It would seem that the opening of transit from Asia to Europe across the Arctic Ocean promised our country significant transit profits, but in reality, not everything is so simple. If, in the event of global warming, this route opens up for “ordinary” ships, Russia will be forced to spend a lot of money on ensuring the security of its northern borders, which are now reliably covered by ice. Our icebreaking fleet will be idle - the largest and most powerful in the world. So the cooling and the restoration of the ice cover on the Northern Sea Route can only negatively affect the profits of Western carriers, but for Russia the situation looks quite positive - our icebreakers will be able to earn money on escorting foreign ships, and the border will still be locked.

The third important change that may occur in the event of a severe cold snap will affect consumer preferences of citizens, Kondratiev notes. In cold weather, people are less likely to leave the house - which means they are less likely to go shopping, visit cafes and restaurants. As a result, the profits of traditional retailers and restaurateurs will decrease, while those of Internet merchants and delivery services will increase. Of course, the light and textile industries, as well as fur manufacturers, can win, because Russians will buy more warm clothes.

Another plus of cold weather, which is regularly reminded by doctors, is the reduction of seasonal influenza and SARS epidemics. During real Siberian frosts, it is almost impossible to pick up the virus. But the “European” winter with temperatures around zero is a welcome environment for all kinds of respiratory infections.

It must be said that in the recorded history of mankind there were several cold periods - long and not very long. In Europe, the first half of the 14th century was frosty (it snowed even in sunny Italy), and as a result of the Great Famine caused by crop failure, millions of people died, almost a quarter of the urban population. The next severe cooling began in the 17th century and lasted, with short interruptions, for almost two hundred years. The English Channel and the Bosporus froze, even the Adriatic Sea, in Russia there were years when frost hit in July-August, and snow fell already in September. In France and Germany, birds froze on the fly, and this is not a literary exaggeration. At the end of the 18th century, snow lay in Paris until April.

Some Western historians argue that if it were not for the early and frosty winters in 1812 and 1941, then both Napoleon and Hitler would have been much more successful in their "Eastern campaigns". This, of course, is a lie, but it is also impossible to deny the help of General Moroz in both Patriotic Wars. The French and German conquerors did not take into account the climatic factor - and deservedly paid the price.

Of course, weather forecasts about the coming cold snap may not come true. But even if long and cold winters become the norm again, the citizens of Russia have nothing to fear. Frost resistance has always been our competitive advantage, and in the 21st century the situation has not changed at all.

Why should you beware frost? Each person has an autonomic nervous system, their own heart rate, more or less sweating, higher or lower blood pressure, and the like.

Those who do not have everything in order with the autonomic nervous system sweat more. Accordingly, they will be stronger freeze than people with dry skin. People with low blood pressure will also feel worse. It is advisable for such people to visit the spa salon more often (http://royalbeauty.ru/katalog/spa-salony) "", where they will not only be able to improve their appearance, but also relax mentally, undergo relaxing procedures, which will undoubtedly have a positive effect on condition and the autonomic nervous system, and will help normalize blood pressure.

On the frost angiospasm, a spasm of peripheral vessels, may also develop. Then it will not be comfortable on the street, the hands and feet will quickly freeze.

Of great importance is whether a person ate or not. Well-fed people will feel good in the cold. In the hungry, the body will emit little heat, so they will be plagued by cold.

What can hypothermia lead to?

It can provoke many diseases of the upper respiratory tract, in particular, pneumonia. Significant hypothermia can also cause angiospasm of large peripheral vessels, and, consequently, frostbite of the hands and feet.

It would seem that drunk people should feel better in the cold, but, on the contrary, they freeze very quickly. It is in alcoholics that frostbite occurs most often.

Also, from a cold of the nerve, neuritis and ischemia begin. Nerve trunks, cells are very sensitive. When ischemia occurs, they do not receive blood, there is not enough oxygen and glucose.

In general, sick people freeze quickly. Their immune status is weakened, which usually plays a big role in compensation and adaptation.

What about cold allergies?

Yes, there are cold allergies and cold angina. In patients with such ailments, the hands turn red, and the skin itches. Cold angina pectoris makes itself felt by vasospasm and pain syndrome. It should be noted that not only the cold factor matters here, but also the coincidence of meteorological properties: low temperature and high air humidity. Frost, say, in Magadan, people normally withstand, because the air there is dry.

How can you protect yourself from the troubles of frosty weather?

People who do not feel well in the cold should cover their mouths with a scarf, take their own medicines prescribed by a doctor before going out - for example, nitroglycerin, validol, etc. Patients with cold allergies should wear warm gloves (not on separate fingers) and woolen socks.

And for whom is winter frosty weather useful?

When the air humidity is 40-60 percent, and the air is frosty and ozonated, then it is easy to breathe. It is useful for everyone - both healthy and sick.

"Friend or Foe" Mikhail Sadovsky From the collection of short stories "Winter on Wheels" It's cold in winter. We put on a warm shirt, over a sweater, then another fur coat, it's still cold. The frost gets under the fur coat, and pinches the nose, and freezes the fingers. Don't mess with the cold! You gape - it will be bad: you will get frostbite! So frost is the enemy? Certainly! In winter, it is difficult to start a car, and steamboats and barges are frozen in the ice and waiting for spring. And try not to heat the house in winter - the water will freeze in the pipes - they will burst. Everyone gets cold. What if it wasn't cold? There would be no winter. How bad it would be! Then don’t sled down the hill, and don’t play snowballs, and don’t run on skis! If it weren't for the frost, the meat would go bad and the ice cream wouldn't taste good. So frost is a friend? Certainly! After all, the cold now helps people in many difficult cases: to cook steel, and build cities, and fly into space, and heal from diseases. Previously, people only hid from the cold: they warmed themselves by fires, built warm dwellings, sewed warm clothes, and then they learned to be friends with the cold and forced it to work for themselves. So you can’t say right away: cold friend or foe. And so and so right. "Last year's snow" Mikhail Sadovsky From the collection of short stories "Winter on Wheels" They often talk about something that has passed, which can no longer be found and returned, "to search like last year's snow." This old and wise saying is, generally speaking, not entirely accurate. It turns out that last year's snow, the snow of last winter, is not so difficult to find. The easiest way to find it is high in the mountains. He lies there on the peaks with white caps and does not melt even in extreme heat. And last year's snow can be found in a shady forest ravine under a layer of old leaves. It is dense, bluish and slowly melts. Around summer. June is in the yard, and here is an island of winter. The sun can't get in here and the wind can't reach it. But people spied on how nature arranged the glacier, and they themselves began to store ice for future use. In autumn, in a secluded shady place, they deepen the ground and cover it with straw. And when winter comes and after severe frosts ice grows on the river, bricks are cut out of it and put in a prepared place. Smooth. One to one. And water is poured all the time. It turns out during the winter a solid block of ice. But now spring begins to creep up, ringing with a drop - it's time to hide the glacier from the sun and heat. A layer of straw is placed on the ice, covered with sawdust on top, and peat on top of the sawdust. Ready! It turned out to be a black bump. After a while, it will overgrow with grass, turn green, and the grass will not know that real winter is hiding under it. When necessary, people break off a piece of ice and carefully close the glacier again so that the heat does not sneak in and melt it. So last year's snow serves people until the new winter. "Dry Ice" Mikhail Sadovsky From the collection of short stories "Winter on Wheels" Once a boy bought ice cream. A piece of ice stuck to the paper wrapper. The boy began to watch the ice melt. Here, less and less, the ice floe completely disappeared. And there was nothing left where she was. Even a small drop of water! What kind of dry ice is this? Maybe it's not from the water at all? That's right - not from the water. The ice icicle is melting - water is dripping, and this ice has melted - no traces, because people have made it from a gas called carbon dioxide. The ice is called dry ice. Dry ice is so cold that you can’t take it with your bare hands - you’ll get frostbite right away! It is much colder than usual, but people need different kinds of ice: warmer and colder. Apples, for example, in severe frost will freeze and become tasteless, and ice cream without dry ice will melt and flow. And so he put ice creams in a box, sketched dry ice on top - ice cream will be stored for a long time even on the hottest July day. Take out the pack, it's hard as a rock! The ice melts, the ice cream preserves, and it's dry. Every ice has its job. "The Frost Helped Out" Mikhail Sadovsky From the collection of short stories "Winter on Wheels" Once, when the metro was standing in Moscow, this happened. They led a tunnel under the ground and suddenly came across watery, viscous earth - a real swamp. Soft soil, but you won’t take it in any way. Creeps. Collapses. Water oozes all around, runs in streams. What to do? They began to think how to continue the tunnel in such soil. Builders offered different methods, but sometimes it turned out to be expensive, sometimes it was not very reliable. And you can’t take risks - people, cars are underground. The miners helped the builders. They, it turns out, have already tried to tunnel underground in such dangerous ground. Then they froze the underground swamp with the help of refrigeration machines, it became completely solid. And then they led the tunnel, as usual, only the walls were strengthened more strongly. When the earth thawed and blossomed again, the water could no longer seep into the tunnel. So for the first time the frost helped the Moscow metro builders. Since then, this method has been used many times when underground swamps - quicksands - were encountered on the way. The frost especially helped the metro builders in Leningrad. Indeed, in those places the soil is swampy, there is a lot of underground water, and around the lake and the sea are nearby. But the tested method did not disappoint. Now there is a beautiful metro in the city of St. Petersburg!

Integrated complex work is diagnostic in nature and allows you to track the process of formation of students' meta-subject skills.

The teacher evaluates the performance of each task of the final work in points, focusing on the evaluation criteria.

For completing tasks with the choice of one correct answer, the student receives 1 point. If more than one answer is selected, including the correct one, then the task is considered to be completed incorrectly (0 points). If there is no answer, regardless of the type of tasks, 0 points are also given. Evaluation of the performance of tasks with a free detailed answer is carried out in compliance with the following general rules: if, along with the correct answer, an incorrect answer is given, then the task is considered to be completed incorrectly; if, along with the correct answer, an additional answer is given that does not correspond to the task, the task is considered partially completed.

The student's performance of the work as a whole is evaluated by the total score received by the student for completing the tasks of two separate parts (basic and advanced levels) and the entire work. The results of the complex work are presented for each student as a percentage of the maximum score for completing the tasks of two separate parts and the entire work.

The conclusion based on the results of the implementation of complex work is made taking into account the score received for its implementation.

Achievement of the basic level - the correct execution of 50-65% of the tasks of the basic level (without *).

Achievement of the advanced level - the correct completion of 65% of the basic level and at least 50% of the tasks of the advanced level (*).

Basic level of preparation (questions and tasks without *)
