Artificially created states. Artificial states of Central Asia - a threat to Russia's national security

The artificial creation of never-before-existing nations/peoples is quite topical nowadays, so let's go over (briefly) on this topic, starting with Europe:
- Belgians- it is clear why and why such a ridiculous state formation was created as Belgium in 1830 (weaken Holland, just in case, and at the same time not give up a piece of France - after the Napoleonic Wars). The result - from a simplified everyday point of view, the Walloons ride Flemings, but no one will fix the situation - Brussels is the capital of NATO and the EU
- Yugoslavs- the project failed, with stability around, the people there still got along with each other, but with any external crisis, they began to cut each other with pleasure. And this despite the fact that the peoples ethnically and linguistically constitute one community (except for the Macedonians and Slovenes), but history gave them different religions and mentalities ... The result - the country fell apart
- Romanians- a new (19th century) ethnic community of Vlachs and Moldavians, administratively created during the period of unification of the country, has not fully developed to date, attempts are continuing to join the former. MSSR
- Turks- not to be confused with the Ottomans (imperial community of the 15th-19th centuries)! Administratively created in the first half of the 20th century. an ethnic community (K.Ataturk: "anyone living in Turkey is a Turk!"), with the exception of the Kurds, has developed (Armenians, Greeks, Jews, etc. are overcooked)
- Italians- a new (19th century) ethnic community of the peoples of the Apennine Peninsula, administratively created during the period of unification of the country, has not fully developed to date, now there are rather centrifugal tendencies due to the large difference in living standards and mentality, due to the course of historical development
- Austrians- one of the few cases of separation of a community from a nation (usually - unification), due to historical and political reasons - the conservation of Austria-Hungary during the unification of Germany and the fatal failures of the Germans on the world stage
The Swiss should not be counted here - they, as a nation, did not work out - the form of the confederation allows such a symbiosis.
The Spaniards also did not make it to the list - although the processes of unification continued into the 20th century, there we are talking about residual processes of ethnogenesis (of course, not including the Basques and Occitans here - the latter, at least for now!)
There are also no Germans here - this, of course, a great people, is constantly lacking something, I will write about this today in a little more detail, separately ...
Added about the Germans:
Well, in Europe, it seems, no one has been forgotten!
In Asia we have Pakistanis(and after 1971, probably, Bangladeshis-?!), based on the Javanese - Indonesians, Malaysians(conglomerate of tribes)...
In Africa, the processes of ethnogenesis, rudely interrupted by the European colonialists, will still be actively going on - as is usual with millions of victims (see an example here:), they also threw them from outside Liberians!
There are amazing things about Latin America - for example, Argentina and Uruguay failed to unite into one state, despite their ethnic and historical identity (except for details), the kaleidoscope of small Central American countries also raises questions about external interference. It is interesting to consider the processes there together with the ethnogenesis of the Spaniards.
Brazil is generally a separate planet, and here we can move on to another phenomenon - supranational communities, to which Crimea can be attributed, in addition to those mentioned Yugoslavs and Brazilians:
- Americans- project in development
- Soviet people- project failed
- Russians- a dead-end project, because it leaves Russians outside the borders of the Russian Federation, freezes the unequal position of Russians in the country (there are no administrative-territorial units, there are no "diasporas" de facto recognized by the authorities, there is no consolidation and binding of the historical roots of the people in the Constitution, etc. .)
It is impossible not to recall the republics of the former. USSR, I won’t stir up the Muslim republics - I’m reluctant to deal with the Kyrgyz-Kazakhs, Uzbeks, Azerbaijanis-Tatars, etc., I’ll remember:
- Georgian- artificial unification of local peoples
- and the most ungodly and inhuman invention - the so-called. " Ukrainians"- the Austro-Hungarian project of splitting the Russian people, territorially formalized by the Germans with the Treaty of Brest, for tactical reasons supported by the Bolsheviks during the Civil War, then, during the stabilization of the situation, left to chance and left after 1991, now this project has moved into active - bloody phase... Naturally, this is not about people living in the former Ukrainian SSR - the vast majority of them are just Russians - but about a perverted ideology that turns them into zombies.
It is clear that such processes, if launched, can have tragic consequences for states and entire regions, the problem is that these are not special operations - they work slowly, therefore only established world forces with their established ideology, value system, can use them, clear goals and tough, strong-willed leadership ...
At the same time, overcoming the split and the consequences of such ethnic subversions will allow us to regain our natural place in the world.

Are you tired of crazy politicians, state interference or social permissiveness? Taxes have become so big that you can't stand it? Have you ever thought that things would change for the better if people trusted you? Then we have good news: you can start your own microstate! It's not easy, but it's possible, and we'll tell you how. We will also give you good and bad examples and show you the very real future of nation building. Read on!

Steps

Learn about your country. Before you start creating a new country, it makes sense to learn more about your own.

Develop a plan. Come up with the name of the country, districts, capital, language. Think about it.

Get familiar with the rules. As Bob Dylan said, "To live outside the law, you have to be honest." The same thought is true in the formation of a microstate: in order to create your own rules, you must follow the already established rules and norms. The main foundation on which modern states are built is the 1933 Convention on the Rights and Duties of States, also known as the Montevideo Convention. Here are the basic rules set out in the first article of the Convention:

The state as a subject of international law must have the following features:

    • permanent population.
    • Certain territory.
    • Government.
    • The ability to enter into relations with other states.
    • The result of the first ten articles is the explanation that the existence of the state does not depend on whether other countries recognize it, it is free to act on its own behalf, and that no state has the right to interfere in the affairs of another.
    • Note that these are not laws in the conventional sense. Of course, you can declare your country anytime, anywhere. However, no one will take you seriously. It all comes down to a simple truth: you will not have legitimacy as a state.
  1. Find territory for your microstate. This is the hardest part. All existing lands have already been appropriated by the existing states. With one exception. What's the exception? Antarctica. But even if you manage the weather and the lack of "popular appeal", Antarctica is claimed by the most powerful countries in the world and it is unlikely that they will simply let you put up a flag and say: "Mine!". Nevertheless, there are still options for how to find a suitable place on our Planet:

Build an island. The ocean, as they say, is the last frontier. International waters do not belong to any people, this spurs interest in them and activity.

Invite your friends. One of the key requirements for the state, in addition to the territory, is the population. If the land you have conquered or created does not have an indigenous population, you will have to assemble the company yourself. Enlist your friends and family to join you in this venture and you will have a small but loyal population.

    • These days, if you're serious about anything (and creating a microstate can actually be serious), then you need a website. Use it to find like-minded people and give them good reasons to populate your new Republic. It could be: work and money, the freedom to have multiple marriages, or just the chance to be part of the birth of a nation.
    • You must decide what requirements will be placed on your citizens. Will I be required to take a citizenship test or comply with certain laws? What will be the form for their identification: passport, driver's license, subcutaneous RFID tag?
  2. Establish a government and a constitution. The success or failure of your enterprise largely depends on leadership in management. For example, the success of the United States lies in the Constitution, which is clear and at the same time open to interpretation and development. Without it, perhaps the country would cease to be a single entity and would fall apart due to unrest into dozens of small nation-states. Your government and your constitution should be guided by principles that should be established at the outset. Here are some examples of different microstates and their founding principles:

Develop a legal system. Every good country has a system by which laws are made. A couple of examples:

    • Referendum. Citizens vote for decisions on issues of national importance or local self-government. Referendums are held in Switzerland.
    • True democracy. People vote for literally everything. In a large country, such a system is difficult to implement, but within a micronation it is quite possible.
  3. Announce your independence. Now that you have a territory, a population, and a government with a constitution, it's time to make your mark. Depending on what you have prepared for the world, one of three things will happen:

  4. Create an economy. If you do not trade in rubles, dollars, euros or other currencies, you will have to create your own financial system. Will the wealth of your people be built on gold, on securities, or only on your word of honor? While your word may be enough in a circle of friends, in order to get a government loan, you need strong guarantees. Even if you stick to the established currency, you still need to decide how to fund your government. The best way to do this is taxes. Those same taxes, because of which you decided to create your own state. Through taxation, your government will be able to provide basic services such as electricity, running water, the necessary officials (as few as you like), and an army.

    • The main duty of every state (large or small) is the ability to protect its citizens from enemies. Whether it be regular troops, the national guard, conscription, or some other defensive solution, this is an important point to consider when creating a constitution.
  5. Get recognized by the global community. To eliminate the adverse factors that led to the creation of your country (read above), you will need to become a global player. To do this, the recognition of other countries is necessary. You will need a solid background in international law, politics and diplomacy. If you do not have such experience, it would be advisable to organize a cabinet of qualified politicians who can take on this burden.

    • This is perhaps the most difficult step of all. Some countries, such as Palestine, Taiwan and Northern Cyprus, seem to have done everything necessary, but are still not recognized by many countries. There are no rules here - each country has its own standards by which they decide on recognition. The result can be influenced by such things as: belonging to Al-Qaeda, communism or capitalism. It also matters how you feel about human rights or the control of natural resources. For example, in the United States, the decision to recognize a nation is made by the President. The decision on your request will depend on who currently occupies the White House, their policies and preferences change every four years.
    • In addition, to join the UN, none of the five powers - the US, Britain, China, Russia and France - must veto your membership. In other words, you will have to be neutral on issues such as territorial disputes, including with Palestine, Taiwan and Crimea.
    • If you live in the immediate vicinity or in Europe itself, try applying to join the European Union. So you will ensure your country's sovereignty in world politics.
  6. Create your symbols. Every country needs a flag and yours is certainly no exception. This is the most well-known national symbol, but there are other symbols that can help create your national identity:

    • Money. What will your currency look like? Will the gold coins and the 3D hologram on paper banknotes feature your profile, or will you use symbolic icons like the Statue of Liberty or Charlton Heston? Will you go the modern way, or will you cut every detail by hand in the old fashioned way?
    • National emblem. You can come up with a national motto and translate it into Latin. There are many free online translators. Add some ornate graphics to your shield to make everyone think you're royalty. Or you can state your mission in plain native language by asking a designer to create a logo. A good logo can be worth more than the crown jewels of England!
    • Official correspondence. All letters you will write to the President, the UN, the Prime Minister and other heads of state will need high quality paper with your seal embossed on them.
    • National anthem. Don't forget about the national anthem, which will be played at important events.

In our time, every savvy person can create their own state. Of course, this will not necessarily make him rich, but it will certainly make him famous. We have collected 7 real cases from modern history one man could at least for a while create your own country.

Paradoxically, the Second World War served as an indirect reason for the creation of a state called Sealand. During the Battle of Britain, the British authorities, in order to secure the coast of the country, built many military platforms along it. During their construction, no one thought about international maritime law and the boundaries of territorial waters, because the main thing at that time was the country's security.

But in 1967, retired British major Paddy Roy Bates drew attention to the fact that the Roughs Tower platform is located outside the territorial waters of the United Kingdom, therefore, does not fall under the jurisdiction of this state and is considered no man's land. He landed on this object and proclaimed it an independent country with the name Sealand.

Attempts by the authorities to return the platform through military and legal means came to nothing. Moreover, the court decided that this case was outside British jurisdiction. This fact is the main argument of supporters of the independence of Sealand.

The authorities of Sealand actively began to earn money on the status of this country. They began to issue stamps, coins and even passports of their state. In 2000, the servers of the hosting company HavenCo moved to the platform, and in 2012 official tourist trips to Sealand began.

In 1972, the American entrepreneur Michael Oliver decided not to look for some free space on the world map in order to establish his own state there, but to create it artificially. He chose two small reefs in the Pacific Ocean and covered them with sand brought on a barge from Australia.

On January 19, 1972, the Republic of Minerva was founded on the new island, which was supposed to be the first libertarian country in history, a state without taxes, benefits, subsidies and other “negative” economic phenomena, according to Oliver.

But the history of the new independent republic was quickly cut short. In February 1972, the nearby Kingdom of Tonga declared a new piece of land in the ocean its territory, and in the summer its troops landed there, annexing the island.

Interestingly, the Kingdom of Tonga itself eventually came into conflict with the Republic of Fiji over this territory. The latter announced in 2005 its claims to the Minerva reefs.

Seasteading is called the hypothetical creation of objects floating in the ocean, each of which positions itself as a separate, independent state. It can even be a ship, such as a cruise ship. But recently there are developments of different shapes and sizes. This is done by the Seasteading Institute with the support of the American billionaire Peter Thiel.

Peter Thiel was one of the founders of the electronic payment system PayPal. He plans to use it as the main means of payment among the inhabitants of free maritime states. We are talking about several platforms in the Pacific Ocean near the coast of the US state of California, where Silicon Valley is located - the world center for the development of new technologies.

Each such platform should become an independent state based on libertarian principles. It will not have taxes, visas, army and social security. Maximum economic freedom, maximum freedom for the individual.

Peter Thiel promises that the first such floating island, capable of accommodating 270 people permanently, will appear off the coast of California as early as 2019.

The love of an ordinary American for his own daughter and the desire to make her a real princess is the main reason why the creation of the state was proclaimed in the summer of 2014.

Northern Sudan is located on the border of Sudan and Egypt in the so-called Bir Tawil Triangle. We are talking about a territory with an area of more than 2 thousand square kilometers, which neighboring states, due to a legal incident and territorial disputes, refuse to consider their own.

American Jeremiah Heaton discovered this neutral zone on the map when he decided to turn his little daughter into a real princess, because she dreamed about it so much. In August 2014, he went there and planted on one of the peaks in Bir Tawil the flag of the unoccupied land of the Kingdom of Northern Sudan, which he established by right.

Heaton now plans to get recognition for Northern Sudan by Egypt, Sudan, and the African Union. He plans to start developing this land with the help of thousands of volunteers and investors, turning a deserted, lifeless area into an economically developed region.

Some sections of the border between Serbia and Croatia have not yet been defined and, accordingly, not marked on the ground. These two countries are arguing about the nationality of some of the islands on the Danube. In particular, the island of Gornja Siga with an area of 7 square kilometers has a suspended status.

Taking advantage of this uncertainty and the status of terra nullius (no man's land), the Czech journalist and public figure Vit Edlicka proclaimed this island the independent state of Liberland in April 2015.

Edlicka offered to join the new European nation to everyone. At the moment, more than 250 thousand people from all over the world have already applied for citizenship. Activists want to turn their small island into a developed democratic state, where there will be a place for any undertakings. “Live and let live” is the motto of Liberland.

I must say that the Croatian authorities took this movement very seriously. They tried to restrict access to the island of Gornja Siga and even temporarily arrested Vit Edlichka himself, but were forced to release him under public pressure.

But the Lithuanian authorities are quite tolerant of coexistence on the same territory with another country - the Republic of Užupis. This state entity was founded in 1997 by residents of one of the districts of the city of Vilnius.

The quarter with the name Užupis (District) at that time was quite a depressing place. They decided to revive it by declaring independence and turning the district into a republic of artists and poets.

Now in Uzupis you can find many art galleries, workshops and shops, as well as several cafes. Government meetings are held in one of these restaurants.

The Republic of Užupis has its own coat of arms, anthem, currency, Constitution, army and even customs. True, the latter works only one day a year - April 1, when the Independence of this small state is celebrated. Then anyone can put a stamp in the passport at the border booth on the bridge over the Vilenka River.

As mentioned above, the Vilnius authorities have nothing against the existence of the Užupis Republic on its territory. Moreover, the mayor of the city Arturas Zuokas himself lives in the area and is one of the activists of the state of artists and poets.

You've probably seen the feature film Always Say Yes, about a man whose life quickly changed for the better after he began to say yes to absolutely every opportunity. It turns out that this movie is based on the book by English humorist Danny Wallace, who, indeed, lived for a whole year without the word "no" in the lexicon.

But in his life there were many equally interesting stories. For example, in 2005, Wallace proclaimed the independent state of the Kingdom of Lovely in his East London apartment.

Danny Wallace began active work on state building in his Kingdom. He invited everyone to obtain citizenship of the new country, and also tried to achieve its recognition from the United Kingdom and even the UN. True, it was not successful. But more than 51 thousand people have become citizens of the Kingdom of Lovely during the existence of the country.

Wallace recorded all his actions on camera for a documentary broadcast on the BBC.

However, the world is gradually coming to an understanding that the state as such in its current form may soon cease to exist, because it is being replaced by private initiatives. You can read about it in our review.

The artificial creation of nations/peoples that never existed before is quite topical now, so let's go (briefly) on this topic, starting with Europe:
