Doll therapy. Method "Helping doll

Inclusion is change, and it scares everyone! That's the way a person is. But in this case we are talking about human rights, and we still have to move towards change.

Recently, many changes have been made along this path, both at the level of legislation and at the level of practice. Amendments were made to the basic laws of Ukraine on the development and implementation of inclusive education; conditions are being created for the education of children with special educational needs on the basis of preschool, general education and higher educational institutions, and teachers are being trained to work in an inclusive educational environment.

Now international public organizations have begun to work actively in the country, which help Ukrainians understand what inclusion is. They are engaged in promoting and implementing projects aimed at introducing inclusive approaches in education in our country.

Special preschool educational institution No. 36 this year on the basis of the signed Memorandum of Cooperation with the All-Ukrainian Foundation "Step by Step". They took part in the international educational and practical training, which took place from February 17 to February 19, 2016 in Irpin.

“Personal Dolls: A Pedagogical Approach for the Social and Psychological Development of a Child”, which was held as part of the project “Creating a Safe Inclusive Environment in Schools and Communities”, the project is being implemented with the support of the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation UK and the Open Society Institute Foundation USA.

The training was conducted by Daniel Kovak (Hungary), psychologist, trainer of the International Association "Step by Step".

The "Persona Doll" method is an innovative pedagogical approach aimed at developing empathy in children, nurturing rejection of discrimination and injustice.

The puppets and the stories they tell are an effective, safe and fun way to talk about equality issues and eliminate prejudice and discriminatory behavior.

Dolls help overcome isolation, support those who suffer from it; give each child the opportunity to feel part of the team.

Puppet activities increase children's participation, develop active listening skills, encourage caregivers to accept each child's responses and receive positive feedback.

A persona doll is a friend of children, not a didactic doll.

Persona dolls in pedagogical practice

Endowed with their own individuality;

Have a definite life history;

Your likes and dislikes;

They come to visit, as a rule, during a conversation in a general circle or in a group;

Soon the children accept them as their friends;

Doll therapy. Helping doll technique

Doll therapy. "Helping Doll" technique.

This technique was used in individual work with a child (Lida K. The girl is characterized by increased anxiety, ADHD with a predominance of inattention).

First stage of work with the child began with the establishment of contact. This stage is very important, because based on it, the emotional disclosure of the child takes place in the process of making the doll and therapeutic work with it. At this stage, it is necessary to exercise maximum caution and tact, you can discuss issues related to the interests of the child, favorite fairy tales and heroes, leisure and everything that worries him.

The next step is to make the doll.. For a child, its size, complexion, and materials matter. Lida decided to make a small doll. Such a doll will give her confidence and allow her to take a patronizing position. In addition, in the process of making dolls, children become calm, balanced. They develop concentration, perseverance, imagination. Observation of the girl during the making of the doll showed that she tried to concentrate her attention, did not fuss, was not distracted by extraneous stimuli.

At this stage, it is important to get involved in the creation process yourself, as this allows the child to feel more at ease.

The third stage is the final conversation, questions to the child, direct playing out of any situation using a made doll.

Sample list of questions:

1. What is the name of your doll?

2. How old is she?

3. Who does she live with?

4. What does he like to do?

5. Does she have friends?

6. What makes her happy and what makes her sad?

7. What would she like to change about herself and her lifestyle?

As an illustration, I will cite a fragment of a conversation with Lida K.

Psychologist: "What is the name of your doll?"

Lida: "My doll's name is Sveta."

Psychologist: "How old is Sveta?"

Lida: "She is 7 years old."

Psychologist: “What worries, upsets Sveta?”

Lida: “When Sveta was little, her parents had a big fight and stopped living together.”

Psychologist: “How did she feel then? Was she worried?

Lida: “Yes, she couldn’t understand what was happening and why mom and dad were fighting, but they didn’t love each other and didn’t live in peace .... It seemed to her that they stopped noticing her and they no longer needed her.

Psychologist: “What do you think, how can you help Sveta cope with this?”.

Lida: "To reconcile the parents, but they no longer want this."

Psychologist: “How did Sveta cope with her experiences?”

Lida: “She felt calmer and lighter when she hid in her room and cried quietly.”

Psychologist: "If Sveta met a magician, what would she ask him for?"

Lida: “So that Sveta can handle this. She needs help."

As can be seen from the above fragment of the conversation, Lida projected the situation from her life onto the Sveta doll. This kind of conversation makes it possible to naturally correct the psychological problems of the child, namely, emotional stress is relieved, anxiety and fears gradually disappear. This will make the child feel more relaxed and confident.

To the psychologist's question: "Do you want to take the doll home?", the girl answered in the affirmative. From a conversation with her mother, it turned out that the girl did not let her doll out of her hands: she played with her, ate, laid next to her in bed.

At the next lesson, the girl was asked to come up with a fairy tale about her doll. With the guidance of a psychologist, the girl composed a fairy tale:

“There lived - there was a girl. She didn't have any friends. It was bad for the girl alone, there was no one to play with. Then the girl went for help to a good sorceress. The sorceress said that you can make a girlfriend for yourself from fabric and thread, and then revive her with the help of magic words: “One, two, three, revive the doll!”. The girl obeyed and made a doll - a friend, whom she called Sveta. After pronouncing the magic words, the doll came to life and was always next to the girl and helped her.

Homework: Draw a story.

For the next lesson, the girl brought her drawing, in which she depicted a good sorceress, herself and the doll Sveta. In the classroom, with the help of this doll, various situations were played, which helped the girl to interact with her peers, to find a way out of conflict situations.

Thus, “living” different states together with the doll, the child “treats” himself, greatly enriches his world of feelings and emotions.
