Some time later, D-503 again receives a notification that I-330 wants to meet with him. The hero, without thinking twice, goes to meet her, because she has already become indifferent to him. He can't stop thinking about her anymore. When meeting I-330 smokes, drinks, teases him. This is forbidden in the One State, but D-503 does not report to her due to the feelings that arose in his soul.
After this meeting, D-503 searches everywhere for his beloved. Out of desperation, he goes to the house-museum where they first met. There he meets his doctor friend R-013. He shows him a secret door in the closet, through which they enter a completely different world. There are no usual strict rules here, people experience emotions and know what emotions are. They are sad, happy, afraid, love. Here, in this world, he meets I-330.
The old girlfriend of the hero 0-90 understands that he fell in love with another woman, and comes to say goodbye to him. In parting, she asks to make her a child. If the State finds out about such a violation, both will face severe punishment in the form of execution, but D-503 agrees to her request, after which he takes her to that very world outside the door in the house-museum.
At this time, the Day of Unanimity begins in the One State. On this day, all the inhabitants gather in the central square, a metallic voice slowly says: “Who is for? and all citizens should raise their hands. The author is absorbed in reading the poems of a poet friend. The praise of the multiplication table and the orderly life of their world enthralls D-503. He regains peace and becomes "himself", that is, the former. The author experiences a deep peace that his thoughts have again taken their former course.
Entry 13.
The beginning of the new day was spoiled by high clouds: this had almost never happened before in the United State. As D-503 was hurriedly getting ready for work, I-330 called him. The woman called him to her, convinced that he would obey and come. D-503 obediently comes and instead of the planned reading of notations, he admits that he loves the fog. However, S appears in the house, from which the author hurries to hide. D-503 hides in a closet, which turns out to be an elevator: the car takes the author somewhere down. Here he first discovers a familiar doctor, and then - I-330. The woman appoints him a new date. There is confusion in the author's head, he does not know if everything really happened or if it was a dream.

The author describes his experiences and thoughts about a strange illness. He does not understand why he cannot cope with the soul. It is not clear what the soul is and why it is difficult to describe it mathematically. In a perfect world, mathematics is never wrong - and neither is death. D-503 receives a letter from 0-90, who informs her that she is canceling her scheduled date with him. She is sure that it is better for D. And the author is also sure of this, although he does not understand why.

Ten people died during the tests of the Integral, but no one regretted it, since 10 “numbers” for the United State is an infinitesimal of the third order. When D-503 was at home after a working day, an unfamiliar number came to him, bringing a letter from I-330. The woman says she will come at a private hour. The author is again confused, it seems wrong to him, but he cannot resist. D-503 comes to the Ancient House, to "their" apartment, opens the closet door, and suddenly... the floor leaves from under his feet, he descends into some kind of dungeon, reaches the door, behind which there is a rumble. From there, his friend, the doctor, appears. "I thought she, I-330..." - "Stand there!" the doctor disappears. Finally! Finally she is there. D and I leave - two-one ... She walks, like him, with her eyes closed, throwing her head up, biting her lips ... The builder of the "Integral" is now in a new world: around something clumsy, shaggy, irrational.
0-90 understands: D-503 loves another, so she removes her record on him. Having come to say goodbye to him, she asks: “I want - I owe a child from you - and I will leave, I will leave!” - "What?
