Take care of this Earth! Take care!

When is this holiday held? World Environment Day is celebrated annually on June 5th.

How is Environment Day celebrated?

How is the celebration going? The holiday program includes seminars, round tables, conferences, forums dedicated to the conservation of biological resources.

Competitions of school and student works devoted to environmental problems are held. Trees and shrubs are being planted, subbotniks are being held; Those who wish can take part in the improvement of yards and streets. Films devoted to nature are broadcast on television.

History and traditions of World Environment Day

Environment Day was established by the UN General Assembly at its 27th session by Resolution No. A / RES / 2994 (XXVII) of December 15, 1972.

The date of the holiday is timed to the day of the beginning of the Stockholm Conference on Environmental Problems, also held in 1972.

The conference adopted the Stockholm Declaration, which defined 26 principles of environmental conservation. The forum placed the responsibility for preserving the ecology on the planet on the governments of different countries of the world.

Each year, World Environment Day is dedicated to a different theme:

  • in 2012 - "Green economy: are you part of it?",
  • in 2013 - “Think. Eat. Save",
  • in 2014 - "Raise your voice, but not the sea level!",
  • in 2015 - “Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with care,
  • in 2016 - "Zero Tolerance Policy for Illegal Wildlife Trade",
  • in 2017 - "I am with nature",
  • in 2018 - Fight against plastic pollution.

In Russia, the Day of Environmental Protection is also celebrated as the Day of the Ecologist.

On International Environment Day, environmentalists remind that soil and water resources, plants and animals are significantly damaged by the activities of industrial enterprises.

Every year, 11 million hectares of tropical forests disappear from the face of the Earth, which is 10 times the rate of restoration of forest lands.

About 21 million barrels of oil are poured into the seas and oceans every year. Giant landfills, equal in size to small countries, have formed on the water surface of the world's oceans.

For half a century, the number of plant and animal species has decreased by a third on the planet. The number of cities that exceed the World Health Organization pollution levels exceeds 50%.

These and other environmental issues are called to draw attention to the Day of Environment Protection.

Also in different countries of the world are noted:

  • World Habitat Day,
  • International Day for Biological Diversity,
  • international earth day,
  • World Water Day and other holidays dedicated to environmental protection.

June 5 is World Environment Day. It was established by the UN General Assembly in 1972. The choice of date is justified by the fact that on this day the UN Conference on the Human Environment (Stockholm, 1972) opened.

The conference adopted a declaration containing 26 principles that should guide all states in their activities aimed at protecting the environment and rational use of natural resources. For the first time, it was proclaimed that the protection and improvement of the environment for present and future generations is the primary task of mankind.
World Environment Day is one of the main ways for the UN to draw the attention of the world community to environmental issues, as well as to stimulate political interest and related action.

Environmental protection is a system of state and public measures (technological, economic, administrative and legal, educational, international) aimed at the harmonious interaction of society and nature, the preservation and reproduction of existing ecological communities and natural resources for the sake of living and future generations. Today, environmental problems are among the most important and determine the level of well-being of the entire world civilization and, in particular, our country. Russia plays a key role in maintaining the global functions of the biosphere, since its vast territories, occupied by various natural ecosystems, represent a significant part of the biological diversity of the Earth.

The theme of the World Environment Day is determined annually. In 2012, the day was dedicated to the green economy, with Brazil as the host country. In 2013, World Environment Day is dedicated to the problem of rational use of food and reducing wasted food, he.
Every year, about 30% of the world's food is lost or wasted. In monetary terms, this volume is equal to a trillion dollars.
Food waste is a major problem in developed countries, most often driven by retail chains and consumers throwing food that is still edible into the trash can.
At the same time, one in seven people in the world go to bed hungry and more than 20,000 children under the age of 5 die of hunger every day. Food waste is also a huge depletion of natural resources and a contributor to negative environmental impacts.

Ecologists named 10 pearls of Russia's nature under the threat of destructionOn the eve of World Environment Day and the All-Russian Day of the Ecologist, WWF named ten natural places in Russia that may lose their ecological value in the coming years due to human fault.

Mongolia was chosen as the host for World Environment Day 2013. The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) reported that Mongolia was given this honor due to its efforts to promote a green economy, including green technologies in the mining sector. The country's government has imposed a moratorium on the development of new coal deposits, and also announced plans to switch to energy from renewable sources. In addition, the achievements of Mongolia in the environmental education of young people were noted.
On World Environment Day in many countries of the world, environmental events and actions aimed at protecting the environment and ecology are held.

Domestic ecologists also celebrate their professional holiday on June 5 . The corresponding decree was signed on June 21, 2007 by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Ecologist Day was first held in 2008.
The appearance of this holiday in Russia emphasizes the importance of the professional activities of state environmental institutions at all levels, non-governmental environmental organizations and everyone who contributes to the conservation of nature and the environment.
The issues of environmental protection are among the priority issues of the political, economic and social life of the country, being one of the tasks of national security. The right of citizens of the Russian Federation to a favorable environment is enshrined in the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

10 natural gems of Russia that may disappearOn the eve of World Environment Day, he named ten unique places in our country that may lose their ecological value in the coming years. RIA Novosti brings to your attention a map of the natural pearls of Russia, which are in serious danger due to human fault.

In Russia, according to estimates for 2012, there are about 12 thousand specially protected natural areas (SPNA) of various levels and categories. The basis of the federal system of protected areas is 102 reserves, 43 national parks and 70 federal reserves. According to the Concept for the Development of the Protected Area System, which was approved in 2011, it is planned to create 11 more reserves, 20 national parks and one federal reserve in the next eight years.

Within the framework of the World Environment Day and Ecologist's Day, actions are organized annually in nature reserves and national parks in order to attract public attention to environmental problems. Guided tours, clean-up events, environmental education programs and open days are held in specially protected areas.

The material was prepared on the basis of information from RIA Novosti and open sources

World Environment Day (Environmentalist Day) is celebrated on June 5th. The international holiday for the protection of the environment was adopted in 1972 by a resolution adopted at the Stockholm Conference concerning environmental problems. The main purpose of this holiday is the desire to awaken in people the desire to take care of the environment. In Russia, on this day, it was decided to proclaim the professional day of ecologists and environmentalists. The holiday was adopted on July 21, 2007 by the Decree of the President V.V. Putin No. 933 "On the Day of the Ecologist" thanks to the initiative of the Committee on Ecology, working under the State Duma. These holidays are celebrated by holding rallies, competitions of drawings, posters and essays among schoolchildren, parades, events for planting green spaces and cleaning up territories.

Today is a professional holiday for those who have taken on a great responsibility - the responsibility of caring for our environment. On the day of the ecologist, we wish everyone transparent air, clean water and a balance of all environmental variables. Your work makes our life better!

Author

World Environment Day is perhaps one of the most important holidays of the year. Today, everyone thinks about the harm humanity causes to nature and how everyone can help it: do not throw a used battery in the trash, take a burned-out fluorescent lamp for recycling, or simply turn off the light. On this day, I want to sincerely congratulate all ecologists on the holiday, because they are the ones who are trying to save the world as it is today, for our children. So let good luck and understanding in business accompany you, and humanity will direct its forces not to develop another weapon, but to save the planet.

Author

Ecologists make an invaluable contribution to the improvement of the entire planet. You watch forests, seas and lakes. For your work, not only people express gratitude to you, but also other inhabitants of the whole Earth. We wish you health and prosperity. Let the number of air pollution be reduced to a minimum. Let poaching disappear completely. Thank you for your invaluable work and once again Happy Holidays!

Protect native nature
Do not burn the fires of autumn leaves,
Do not pour gasoline and oil into water,
Protect your loved ones from mercury

The whole list of good deeds is long,
But he is on the alert, wherever he is,
The ecologist will save our world from troubles,
He is the guardian of earth and sky.

From the depths of the deep to the star,
King of the core and noosphere,
For the environment
He will take action.

And on the day of the ecologist, let
He will accept our congratulations!
Who will save our land from trouble?
Ecologist! This is our opinion!

Author

We will celebrate the day of the ecologist
Cleaning our yard
And we wanted to say this
That cleanliness is important.

Don't throw plastic in the forest
And throw away the batteries
It is necessary to bring order to the masses,
Our world needs to be saved!

Global warming is
Coming soon
There will be a big flood
Everything living in the world will die!

Author

The ecologist walked slowly around the city.
June. Summer unfolded.
It seemed that even the soul was stained
In shades of green.

Adjusting his glasses, he looked closely,
Recording observations in a notebook
How an important process was performed by chlorophyll
In the spreading crown of trees.

Leaves rustled, giving oxygen.
The flowing photosynthesis phase.
Cars on the road round dance
Released exhaust fumes...

The ecologist sat thoughtfully on the bench.
And nearby, ringing on the guitar,
The teenagers squealed their "ah love yu"
And they threw cigarette butts on the ground ...

Mother and child walking in the park
Showing off her dress
And left a trail of candy wrappers
To dazzle on the sad pavement...

The ecologist sighed. Salt woke up
Him on spiritual wounds.
And he screamed, ignoring the pain:
"People, today is the day of protection
Environment! Cast your gaze
Are you under your feet or something ...
Let your ears burn with shame!
Let the conscience prick with a needle!

The teenagers were quiet. The foliage has subsided.
And the lady turned purple.
I picked up all the candy wrappers from the asphalt
And silently threw it into the trash.

As we often forget
What is purity
We remember too late
The word "life" and "beauty".

How I wanted to dive
On the primeval day of the Earth,
To face innocence
What they couldn't ruin.

Even if on the day of protection,
environment,
Everyone will remember, no offense,
What have you done for your life?

What did you do to breathe
Always clean air
To live, and life appeared,
With clear skies all year round.

Author

It would seem that trees, a field
And weed is your circle of work
But everything is more difficult: as in captivity
The ecologist works hard.

It will calculate the release into the air
And concentrations of substances
But he wants to dream of the stars,
Get bogged down in a series of celebrations.

And there is still water, waste -
They need to be watched
And think about the fate of nature,
About what to eat and drink.

If suddenly there will be no ecologists,
Problems will pour a whole pond,
So appreciate people
Sometimes thankless work.

Author

The planet is breathing hard
She is tired of us
The earth is a living organism
Not enough room for ugliness
Plants and fauna
As well as air and water
Everything turned into a terrible shooting gallery
It's time to get rid of us!
When there are such people
... environmentalists - let's remind right away!
Home planet is given honor
They have a goal - to save Nature!

Author

Congratulations on the day of the ecologist,
You store everything for the world,
What has become more expensive than gold -
Purity, originality.

So let chance help you
May you always be lucky in life
Everything planned will work
And trouble will never come.

Author

On Environment Day
Let me congratulate you
And work worthy of praise,
Truly glorify!

To keep the river clean
The blade of grass is green
For the earth to breathe
You work hard!

May good luck and success
Escorted everywhere
Without delay and interference
They let you go everywhere!

Let there be joy from the heart
For a righteous cause
You conquer the frontiers
And go into battle boldly!

Author

May our planet be safe
This fact alone makes life more beautiful.
Your covenants, so that officials appreciate,
Yes, filters were installed on the pipe as soon as possible.
Dawn, so that ours is pure and wonderful,
And the world is big, diverse, interesting
Good luck to you in your noble cause,
So that the violation does not hide from you, do not hide it.
To find paths to success.
Work slowly and slowly.
Good luck rowing with a huge spoon.

Man destroys nature
Sparing no means and effort,
If you give him freedom
If only he could chop wood!
The planet would go bald
The ocean would dry up
But the ecologist said menacingly,
That's it, I won't let you ruin it anymore!
Protects, protects, the ecology of the Earth,
So that people unknowingly
They couldn't ruin everything!
Happy Ecologist's Day, brothers,
You are tough, you are fighters
You always have something to do
You are great fellows!
protected nature,
Thank you for your work
And great weather.
Beckons from home on a holiday!

Author

He is both a lawyer and a biologist at the same time...
Combines everything in itself ecologist!
And his directed labors
For the preservation of the environment:
So that the forests still rustle,
So that the meadows bloom and the birds sing,
To breathe clean air
All living beings would be respected
To make the river flow transparent ...
Congratulations to all ecologists!

Author

Oh, how difficult it is for environmentalists
Make sure that everything in nature is safe.
And on weekdays and on holidays a lot of work,
There is just no turning back.

Who else will follow the river,
So that people can drink without fear?
Who will filter emissions like that,
To be able to breathe calmly cape?

So, ecologists, time to work.
We will be proud of your work.
More aspirations and higher income
May the environment bring you...

Such a holiday date as World Environment Day is not a day off. However, every conscious person understands the importance of this holiday, created in order to draw the attention of the world's population to environmental problems.

history of the holiday

The reason for the creation of a new holiday was an appeal from world figures of art and culture, sent in May 1971 to the UN. This document contains a warning about the danger hanging over all of humanity due to the widespread deterioration of the environmental situation. After all, every sensible person understands that either people will stop polluting the environment, or humanity will simply cease to exist.

The response to the appeal received was a world conference held in 1972. This conference, held in Stockholm, was attended by delegates representing 113 countries of the world. One of the results of the meeting was the establishment of a new holiday date - June 5, for the Day of Nature Protection.

Purpose of the holiday

The main purpose of the holiday is to attract the attention of ordinary people from different countries to environmental issues and promote the process of protecting natural resources.

Activities aimed at protecting and maintaining the purity of the environment are also called applied ecology. They include a whole range of measures aimed at minimizing the adverse impact of human activities on nature.

The main measures of applied ecology are:

  • limitation of emissions carried out by enterprises into the atmosphere and water resources;
  • creation of national parks and nature reserves;
  • introduction of restrictions on catching fish and commercial hunting;
  • exclusion of illegal waste disposal, as well as the construction of enterprises for the disposal of household waste.

You should not think that the problems of applied ecology are only the business of the ruling elite, much depends on ordinary people. After all, the future of each person depends on the possibility of preserving the purity of the environment.

The meaning of the holiday

The environmental holiday, which can be designated as the day of the ecologist, is of significant importance. This day is singled out from everyday life to understand that any person should actively contribute to the cause of protecting the purity of the surrounding world.

Nature protection is not only large-scale events, but such actions as:

  • refusal to constantly use disposable bags made of polyethylene;
  • recycling;
  • cleaning of public beaches, forest squares, etc.

All these cases are available to ordinary people who do not have power.

How are the celebrations going?

Nature Conservation Day is celebrated every year at the beginning of summer. The plan of festive events can be the most diverse. Can be carried out:

  • public rallies;
  • bike rides;
  • charity concerts and performances, the proceeds from which are used for environmental events;
  • mass actions for garbage collection or planting of green spaces;
  • contests of posters or drawings on asphalt, etc.

The main thing is that the events held could draw the attention of ordinary people to environmental problems. And at the highest level, on the Day of Nature Protection, various treaties and conventions are traditionally signed and ratified, aimed at preserving and maintaining a clean environment.
