The department has accumulated significant experimental material on the study of the patterns and features of the adsorption interaction of multiply charged ions of metals, organic substances (organic dyes, surfactants, etc.) with the surface of solid carriers of various nature. The obtained experimental and theoretical results can be used in the development and creation of express, sensitive test methods for the content of trace amounts of substances - pollutants of inorganic and organic nature in natural and industrial waters. Of considerable interest are the theoretical and experimental developments of the department concerning the study of the features of the direct electrothermal atomic absorption determination of trace amounts of metals in solid, powdery and high-purity materials, as well as the use of matrix modifiers and other chemically active reagents in the analysis of environmental objects, products of non-ferrous metallurgy, biological and plant materials, food products. In recent years, the department has actively explored the possibility of using colorimetric functions for the study and quantitative description of acid-base equilibria in solutions of organic dyes.

Historical information:

The history of the Department of Analytical Chemistry as an independent educational, methodological and scientific unit as part of the Faculty of Chemistry dates back to 1933 after the re-establishment of the Odessa /Novorossiysk/ University. The first head of the department of analytical chemistry and at the same time the dean of the chemical faculty was prof. V.D. Bogatsky. Under his leadership, the staff of the department was engaged in the development of new methods of chemical analysis and, in particular, the use of organic compounds in inorganic analysis. In fact, in the first years of the existence of the department, prof. V.D. Bogatsky laid the foundations for the scientific direction "Organic reagents in analytical chemistry", which in its various versions is being developed to this day by the staff of the department. From 1941 to 1956 the department was headed by Ph.D. chem. Sciences, Associate Professor R.L. Dremlyuk. The scientific research of the department was, in fact, a continuation of the previously begun work on the use of organic reagents in the analysis of the anionic and cationic composition of substances. In the period from 1956 to 1968 at the Department of Analytical Chemistry under the guidance of prof. A.A. Morozova actively develops the scientific direction "Chromatographic analysis and theoretical substantiation of ion exchange processes on liquid and solid ion exchangers". In 1968-1971, under the guidance of prof. A.M. Andrianov, the possibility of using organic reagents for the determination of rare elements was investigated. In 1971-1984 the department was headed by Ph.D. chem. Sciences, Associate Professor N.L. Olenovich. Employees successfully worked on the use of organic reagents for the determination of elements of groups III - V of the periodic system of elements. At the same time, research was started in the field of atomic emission and atomic absorption analysis of non-ferrous metals and alloys, high-purity substances, including oxides of refractory metals and environmental objects. Since 1984, the Department of Analytical Chemistry has been headed by Ph.D. chem. Sciences, Associate Professor A.N. Chebotarev. The main scientific research of the department is aimed at a rational combination of methods of concentration, separation and determination of small amounts of substances in objects of various nature. The most significant scientific achievements are related to the study of the chemical-analytical and sorption properties of polyfunctional sorbents based on ion-exchange resins and amorphous silicas with respect to multiply charged metal ions. Special attention should be paid to the developed sorption-spectroscopic methods for the determination of heavy metals in natural waters, elements-analogues of aluminum and titanium subgroups in industrial materials and natural objects. An important place in the scientific work of the department is occupied by research on the improvement and unification of methods for the atomic absorption determination of heavy metals in food products, physiological fluids and substrates. Since 2006, the department has been intensively working on the theoretical substantiation and practical application in analytical chemistry of the method of chemical colorimetry using colorimetric functions to study acid-base equilibria of organic dyes and complex formation processes in solutions.

History and general characteristics of the department.

A separate department of analytical chemistry was officially established at Omsk State University in 2003. However, effective training of analysts has been going on since the establishment of the university. This training was carried out by the Department of Inorganic Chemistry (1974-1992), then the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Petroleum Chemistry, which was divided in 2003. Regardless of the name of the department, the training of analysts at the Faculty of Chemistry was supervised from the very beginning by Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor V. I. Vershinin, who is now the head of a separate department of analytical chemistry. In 2014, 9 teachers (2 doctors and 7 candidates of sciences) and 5 employees of the teaching and research laboratory work at the department. The department currently has 5 full-time teachers. In the last 5 years, teachers and staff of the department have defended 1 doctoral and 2 candidate dissertations. Now all teachers of the department have academic degrees and titles (1 doctor and 9 candidates of science). They regularly improve their scientific qualifications through internships at leading universities and scientific centers of the country. The department has an area that is quite sufficient for the educational process and scientific research. There are a number of spectrometers, chromatographs, a set of instruments for electrochemical analysis, modern analytical balances, computers, etc. The lack of some modern equipment is compensated by cooperation with an academic institute - the Institute for the Problems of Processing of Problems of Hydrocarbons of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in whose laboratories part of the scientific research, including joint research, is carried out, and some final qualifying works are also carried out.

Academic work

Every year, teachers of the department perform a teaching load with a total volume of about 5 thousand classroom hours. They train students studying undergraduate programs "Chemistry", "Chemical Technology" and "Ecology and Environmental Management", as well as within the framework of the master's program and (until 2015) - a specialist.

Undergraduate.The Department of Analytical Chemistry provides training for future bachelor chemists in three general professional disciplines: "Analytical Chemistry", "Physical Chemistry" and "Planning and Processing the Results of a Chemical Experiment".

For undergraduate students who have chosen the profile "Analytical Chemistry"), teachers of the department give lectures and conduct classes in several special disciplines, namely:

1. Spectrophotometric analysis (associate professor T.V.Antonova).

2. Analysis of environmental objects (Prof. I.V. Vlasova).

3. Metrology and organization of laboratory control (prof. V.I. Vershinin).

4. Electrochemical methods of analysis (associate professor I.A. Nikiforova).

5. Work with literature (associate professor S.V. Usova).

In addition, the specialized disciplines of the chemical-analytical orientation include the courses "Chromatographic Analysis", "Spectral Analysis", "Methods of Analysis and Research of Petroleum Products". And for future ecologists, teachers of the department not only teach basic courses of analytical and physical chemistry, but also teach how to prepare solutions, prepare samples, work with instruments and utensils, and much more, which can be useful not only to an ecologist, but also to a chemical analysis laboratory assistant (additional qualification ).

Master's degree.Bachelor's graduates of Omsk State University can enter the master's program in the field of "Chemistry". Every year, 5 people enter the educational program "Analytical Chemistry" (head of the master's program - Prof. V.I. Vershinin). For undergraduates, teachers of the department give lectures and conduct classes in more than ten academic disciplines. Among them: "History and methodology of analytical chemistry" (V.I. Vershinin), "Chemical metrology" (V.I. Vershinin), "Analysis of medicinal and vitamin preparations" (I.V. Vlasova), "Chemometric algorithms in chemical analysis (A.S. Kazachenko), "Methods of analysis of catalysts" (V.A. Drozdov) and a number of other courses. But the main attention is paid to the management of scientific research undergraduates, the results of which are summarized in the form of scientific articles and a master's thesis.

Methodical work. All the main academic disciplines of the department are provided with original methodological developments, which include textbooks, numerous teaching aids, workshops and problem books, guidelines, visual aids, etc. A number of textbooks and teaching aids created at the department received a recommendation stamp from the relevant all-Russian educational and methodological associations and are widely used not only by students of Omsk State University, but also in other universities.

Scientific research

The department conducts scientific research in three main areas:

Development of new methods for the determination of organic substances in unseparated mixtures using chemometric algorithms and integral indicators. Within the framework of this direction, new methods have been created for the spectrometric determination of medicinal substances in pharmaceutical preparations; phenols and hydrocarbons in natural and waste waters; flocculants in drinking water, etc. Obtained relevant certificates and patents. A number of express and accurate methods have been introduced into the practice of control and analytical laboratories, in particular, at the Omsk oil refinery.

- Modeling the processes used in the analysis. This area includes computer modeling of titration curves and chromatograms, which allows you to identify new promising reagents and optimize analysis conditions. Much attention was paid to the modeling of plasma microdischarges at the phase boundary (T.A. Kalinina, A.V. Syrieva). At present, special attention is paid to the modeling of systematic errors arising in the course of the spectrometric analysis of complex mixtures. On this basis, the theory of computer identification of organic compounds and the theory of integral indicators of chemical composition are successfully developed. The research results are summarized in the monograph by V.I. Vershinin and co-authors “Computer identification of organic compounds” (Moscow: Akademkniga, 2002) and in the doctoral dissertation of I.V. Vlasova (2011). A monograph on integral indicators is being prepared.

- History and methodology of analytical chemistry, as well as the methodology of its teaching in higher education. The results of these studies are reflected in the monograph by V.I. Vershinin and Yu.A. 2011), which received recommendation stamps from a number of UMOs. Within the framework of this direction, new standard programs of academic disciplines are being developed, computer programs for educational purposes are being created, methodological materials for teaching analytical and physical chemistry in universities, etc. are published. The problems associated with the training of analysts within the framework of a multilevel system of higher education are being actively investigated.

The department carries out joint research with the institutes of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and enterprises of the city of Omsk; has stable scientific relations with specialists from the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Tomsk, Kuban and Saratov Universities, as well as some foreign universities. In the above areas, up to 10 articles are published annually in the central scientific press, including in journals included in international databases. Members of the department annually make 10-15 reports at prestigious scientific conferences. Examples are the Euroanalysis conference (2009, Austria), the chemical analysis metrology conference (2003, Israel), international congresses on analytical chemistry (Moscow, 2006, Kyoto, 2013), conferences of analysts in Kazakhstan and Ukraine, Mendeleev congresses on chemistry ( Moscow, 2008; Volgograd, 2011) and others. Just on II C At the Congress of Analysts of Russia (Moscow, 2013), staff and graduate students of the department made 9 reports and held a special seminar on the use of chemometrics in chemical analysis.

The Department of Analytical Chemistry participates in the implementation of a number of targeted scientific programs. In 2009-2011 an all-Russian competition was won and a major state contract was successfully completed related to the development of new methods for monitoring the environment. The scientific team of the department has repeatedly received grants from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and other foundations. V.I.Vershinin, I.V.Vlasova, T.V.Antonova and S.V.Usova are in charge of state budget and contractual research with a total funding of 1-2 million rubles a year. This allows the department to gradually replenish the park of scientific equipment. Students specializing in the department take an active part in the research, they annually present 10-15 scientific reports, are co-authors of scientific publications. Appropriate research leads to the successful defense of theses and master's theses. At the Department of Analytical Chemistry, postgraduate students are trained, mainly in the specialty "Analytical Chemistry". Currently (2015) 2 graduate students are studying at the department.
