The profession of educator appeared in the 19th century. Due to the fact that a woman began to engage in social work, it became necessary to create a network of preschool institutions. In the process of developing the system of kindergartens, a new profession appeared - a teacher of preschool education. And in modern society, this is one of the most important professions. Of course, no one can replace a child with communication with their parents, but the reality of our life is that modern parents, grandparents are busy most of the time at work. Therefore, the teacher teaches the child independence, the rules of behavior, it is the educator who prepares for school.

Educator of preschool education is not just a profession, but a vocation and everyday great work. Many very quickly leave this profession, because they do not see themselves in it.

Where Can You Get a Career as an Early Childhood Educator?

In modern society, serious requirements are imposed on the teacher of preschool education. Therefore, the kindergarten teacher must have a special education. Secondary vocational education can be obtained at the Pedagogical College. Or you need to undergo appropriate training at a pedagogical institute or university at the faculty of preschool pedagogy and psychology. You can get education in educational institutions on a full-time or part-time basis on the basis of incomplete secondary and secondary education. In addition, training is possible on a budgetary and paid basis.

In any preschool institution, not only a specialist with a diploma of secondary or higher professional education will be welcome, but also specialist with additional specialization. For example, a physical education instructor, speech therapist, visual arts specialist, and others.

What are the duties of an educator?

A number of regulatory documents clearly spell out the duties of the educator. These are legal documents such as:

  • an employment contract concluded by the preschool teacher and the employer;
  • job description;
  • sanitary and epidemiological rules and regulations SanPiN 2.4.1.3049-13.

In accordance with these documents, the teacher of preschool education will perform his duties.

The current stage of development of preschool education is characterized by the rapid pace of introduction of innovative technologies into the practice of kindergartens. The federal state educational standards (FSES) that are being put into practice impose certain requirements on the structure of the general education program and the four educational areas identified in it (communicative-personal, cognitive-speech, artistic-aesthetic and the field of physical development). And also, based on the interaction between an adult and a child, it is planned to build an educational process in kindergarten. Therefore, the requirements for the professional qualities of the educator are also being improved.

A new concept has emerged "professional competence", which manifests itself in the ability to effectively carry out pedagogical activities, defined by official duties, and is based on scientific education and an emotional and value attitude to pedagogical activities. Professional competence assumes that the preschool teacher has the necessary base of professionally significant attitudes and personal qualities, theoretical knowledge, professional skills and abilities that he will improve in the process of self-education.

Up for discussion project called "Professional standard of the teacher"(concept and content), which is scheduled to be operational by September 2014. In this project, in paragraph 4.5. lists the professional competencies of a preschool teacher (educator), reflecting the specifics of work at the preschool level of education.

According to this project, the teacher of preschool education should:

What qualities should a teacher have?

The specifics of professional activity imposes certain requirements on the teacher of preschool education. And in order to fulfill his professional duties, he must have certain personality traits. Here are some of them:

  • professional orientation.

At the heart of such a quality of a person as a professional orientation lies an interest in the profession of an educator and love for children, a pedagogical vocation, professional and pedagogical intentions and inclinations. It is these factors that encourage the desire to acquire pedagogical knowledge and constantly improve their professional level.

  • Empathy.

This feeling is characterized by the ability to empathize and sympathize, emotionally respond to the experiences of the child. The teacher of preschool education, knowing the age characteristics of preschoolers, must carefully notice the slightest changes in the behavior of the child, show sensitivity, caring, goodwill, tact in relationships.

  • Pedagogical tact.

Tact is a sense of proportion, which is manifested in the ability to observe the rules of decency and behave properly. When the optimal combination of affection and firmness, kindness and exactingness, trust and control, joke and strictness, flexibility of behavior and educational actions are found in the actions of the educator, we can talk about the tactfulness of the educator.

Along with the demands on the participants in the educational process (children, parents, colleagues), the preschool teacher remains friendly to them, believes in their strengths and capabilities.

  • pedagogical optimism.

The basis of pedagogical optimism is the educator's faith in the strength and capabilities of each child. A preschool teacher who loves children is always tuned in to the perception of their positive qualities. By creating conditions for the manifestation of the abilities of each child, the educator helps to reveal the personal potential of the preschooler. An optimistic educator will not talk badly about the child, complain about him to his parents. An optimistic educator is characterized by the ability to inspire, cheerfulness, and a sense of humor.

  • Culture of professional communication.

The teacher of preschool education must be able to build the right relationships with children, parents, colleagues, that is, with all participants in the pedagogical process.

First, to have a high cultural level and impeccable behavior. Children are good "imitators", it is the behavior of the educator that they imitate in the first place.

Secondly, try to establish partnerships with parents, be able to prevent and resolve conflict situations.

Thirdly, treat colleagues with respect and attention, share experiences, and accept criticism.

  • Pedagogical reflection.

The success of the teacher's professional activity largely depends on the ability for pedagogical reflection. Reflection implies the ability to analyze the steps taken, evaluate the results obtained and compare them with the planned goal. Based on the findings, the early childhood educator adjusts the follow-up activities in order to get better results.

  • Authority.

The trust of parents is the first step towards gaining authority. To enjoy authority among children, parents and colleagues means to get an assessment of one's moral qualities, culture, erudition, devotion to the profession. The ability to fight for one's authority, to cherish it, to maintain the authority of parents and colleagues, is given only to an educator dedicated to his work.

Of the necessary qualities of the personality of the educator, one can also single out: conscientiousness, exactingness to oneself, initiative, patience and endurance. It is good if the preschool teacher knows how to make, draw, sing well, has acting skills. In this case, he will always be interesting to his pupils. Not the last role belongs to the appearance of the educator. Children like charming, neat educators who have fashionable hairstyles and dress stylishly.

Thus, it can be noted that a modern educator today needs special professional training.

A preschool teacher must be proficient in the latest technologies in the field of teaching and raising children, as well as have broad erudition, pedagogical intuition, a highly developed intellect and a high level of moral culture.

Education is a great thing: it decides the fate of a person

History of the profession Educator

The emergence of the teaching profession has objective grounds. Society could not exist and develop if the younger generation, replacing the older one, had to start all over again, without creative assimilation and use of the experience that it inherited.

Profession of an educator- one of the most ancient and honorable in the history of mankind. However, it is not possible to determine the exact timing of its appearance. The history of the profession of an educator originated in Ancient Greece, but in those days a slave was engaged in raising a child in wealthy families, who took him to school and carried all the necessary supplies for his studies. The rest of the time, the slave followed the development of the child, protected from dangers and unwittingly shaped the child's actions and his behavior in general. Such a slave was called a teacher, which literally translated from Greek (paidagogos) means schoolmaster. Some time later, the work of a slave was continued by a home educator, and subsequently, after the popularization of public education, the profession of an educator appeared.

An interesting etymology of the Russian word "educator". It comes from the stem "supply". The words "bring up" and "nourish" not without reason are now often considered as synonyms. In modern dictionaries, an educator is defined as a person engaged in educating someone, taking responsibility for the living conditions and development of the personality of another person.

The profession of an educator belongs to the type "Man - Man", which is focused on communication and interaction with people (in this case, with children). Profession educator belongs to the class of heuristic, because it has to do with the upbringing and education of children.

An employee who works with children in a preschool, monitors the safety of the child's life, creates conditions for his all-round development.

The teacher is educating the child: his upbringing, training and development. Conducts exercises, speech development classes, teaches oral counting, reading, drawing, modeling, natural history. Develops children's attention, memory, thinking, ingenuity, initiative, communication skills. Introduces ethical and aesthetic norms of behavior in society. Organizes children's pastime: games, daily walks, other activities in accordance with the daily routine. Responsible for the life and health of children.

The teacher works in the premises of the kindergarten: in the group, the gym, also in the air, on the territory for a walk. Trips to museums, out of town, etc. are possible. Sometimes it is very difficult to cope with one child, and when there are more than twenty of them, then one adult cannot do it at all. That is why there are always two people in the group who supervise the pupils: the senior and junior educators.

The work of the senior kindergarten teacher is as follows:

  • taking children to the garden in the morning and returning the kids to their parents in the evening;
  • conducting games, dramatizations and other activities for the development of motor skills, speech, memory, their organization and development of the methodological base necessary for this;
  • visiting excursions, theaters, museums. Conducting various activities together with the music director: matinees, holidays, games;
  • the educator with the health worker is also required to ensure that all babies are given the necessary vaccinations to prevent diseases;
  • taking children outside
  • carrying out recreational activities together with a physical education teacher;
  • helping babies with changing clothes, going to the toilet, washing hands, etc.

Profession of an educator quite painstaking, requiring patience, attentiveness, perseverance. After all, in addition to organizing the pedagogical and educational processes, the teacher is also involved in the preparation of teaching aids. senior caregiver develops visual materials, conducts not only all kinds of seminars for his colleagues, but also open classes for parents.

An important aspect that indicates the presence of professional experience is teacher portfolio. This document describes the entire history of his activities, achievements and successes related to the upbringing of children.

The day of the educator is very busy, and no one can cope alone. That is why teachers work in shifts. Most often they replace each other at noon. In some kindergartens, both teachers are together in a group from 12 to 14 hours.

junior caregiver helps the elder to monitor the proper and healthy nutrition of children and the organization of their sleep. The duties of an assistant educator, in other words, a junior educator, include providing assistance in the educational process:

  • bring and distribute food;
  • clean dishes from the table, wash them;
  • the head teacher and his assistant wash the kids and wash their hands;
  • twice a day in the group it is necessary to carry out both wet cleaning and ventilate the room;
  • change bed linen on time
  • clean walking areas;
  • the junior caregiver helps dress the children, take them outside and undress the kids after the walk.

In everyday life, such educators are called nannies. All teachers work in a friendly team, in close contact with each other in order to create the best atmosphere for the full development of their students.

  • nervous and mental diseases;
  • dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system;
  • diseases of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems;
  • persistent visual and hearing impairments;
  • chronic infectious and skin-venereal diseases;
  • bad habits

In the process of vocational education, personality-oriented technologies, problem-based learning technology, and modular learning technology are implemented. The teacher becomes the organizer of the learning process, acting as a diagnostician, consultant, motivator.

The position of the student is active, independent. He learns goal-setting, self-planning, self-organization and self-control in practical activities.

External examination of the results of the State Final Attestation (reviews of educators-mentors, administrative workers of educational institutions - heads of preschool educational institutions, senior educators) notes the success of graduates in their professional activities: the ability to plan and implement the educational process, based on the age and psychological and pedagogical characteristics of the child's personality; creation of a psychologically comfortable developing environment; the formation of positive motivation of preschoolers for educational activities; the ability to conduct individual work with pupils; promote a healthy lifestyle; cooperate effectively with parents.

In 2010 SOMEK hosted a conference dedicated to the Year of the Teacher and the 30th anniversary of the specialty Preschool Education, "Professional training of a preschool education specialist in a competency-based approach: achievements and problems." The following questions were discussed during the conference: What are the current requirements of the pedagogical labor market for a specialist in the field of preschool education? What are the ways to improve the professional training of a preschool education specialist in accordance with the requirements of the new generation of the Federal State Educational Standards?

The conference made it possible to identify effective forms of social partnership to improve the quality of vocational education in modern conditions. During the conference, modern approaches to the preparation of a highly competent specialist in preschool education were identified. The exchange of professional experience on the introduction of innovative technologies in the educational process made it possible to design the conditions for the implementation of the main professional educational program in the specialty.

Today leaders and teachers of SOMEPC create a set of conditions for the development of the specialty Preschool education: a comprehensive software and methodological support is being developed in accordance with the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard of a new generation, information and communication technologies are being actively introduced, social partnership is expanding, methodological seminars are held on topical issues of preschool education at the city level and areas.
