Tests to test the knowledge of the child. School Readiness Tests

6-7 years is a crucial period for a child and his parents, because it is at this age that a preschooler is most actively preparing for school. The child is already more organized, he has mastered some numbers and letters, learned to think logically, find the sequence and the excess in the chain of objects. Is your child ready for school and how to check it? We provide you with some tests that will show the readiness of a preschooler for school, indicate weaknesses and indicate to parents where more work needs to be done.

Tests will also help parents of "winter" children who are considering whether to send their child to school this year or next.

What a child of 6-7 years old entering school should know and be able to:

  1. Your first name, middle name and last name.
  2. Your age and date of birth.
  3. The country in which he lives, city and home address.
  4. Surname, name, patronymic of the parents.
  5. Professions of mom and dad.
  6. Determine the time by the clock.
  7. Names of seasons, months, days of the week, time of day.
  8. Weather conditions.
  9. Primary colors.
  10. Names of domestic, wild animals and their cubs.
  11. To be able to combine objects into groups: transport, clothes, shoes, birds, vegetables, fruits, berries.
  12. Know and be able to tell poems, folk tales, works of children's writers.
  13. Distinguish and correctly name geometric shapes.
  14. Navigate in space and on a sheet of paper (right, left, top, bottom), write a graphic dictation.
  15. To be able to fully and consistently retell the listened or read story, compose a story from the picture.
  16. Remember and name 6–8 objects, pictures, words.
  17. Divide words into syllables according to the number of vowels.
  18. Determine the number, sequence and place of sounds in a word.
  19. Know and be able to write block letters of the Russian alphabet.
  20. It is good to use scissors, a pencil: draw lines without a ruler, draw geometric shapes, carefully paint over and shade.
  21. Know the numbers. Count from 1 to 10, restore the number series with gaps. Count down from 5 to 1, perform counting operations within 10.
  22. Know the concepts of "more, less, equally".

Express test in pictures to determine readiness for school:

You can get an overall picture of your child’s readiness for school by taking into account the above and answering the following questions:

  • Can a child combine several items into one group according to the main feature? For example, a car, a bus, an electric train are transport; apples, pears, plums - fruits.
  • Can it identify an extra item, for example, in the chain: "plate, pan, brush, spoon"?
  • Can a simple pattern be accurately copied?
  • Can he tell a story from a picture, highlight the main idea, trace connections and sequence of events?
  • Can you describe any incident that happened to him?
  • Is it easy for him to answer questions from adults?
  • Does the child know how to work independently, compete in completing tasks with others?
  • Does he get involved in other children's play?
  • Does he take turns when the situation calls for it?
  • Does the child have a desire to look at books on their own?
  • Does he listen carefully when people read to him?

How to determine the intelligence of a child? How to understand what to pay more attention to when teaching a preschooler, how to prevent difficulties when a child enters school? In the new books by Galina Shalaeva, you will find tests that will help you understand whether your child is ready for the next age period of study. The fulfillment by the child of the proposed tasks will make it possible to determine: whether he has the necessary stock of knowledge, skills and abilities; whether he owns mental operations; whether the baby can understand the task assigned to him and complete it on his own. All tests are presented in the form of game tasks that children usually perform with interest and pleasure.

Our babies do not grow and develop at the same rate, so the level of development of each of them cannot be determined on the basis of general parameters such as age, height and others, although they undoubtedly play a role in achieving a certain level of development. However, now more attention is paid to the individual development of the child, and not to its patterns. Each kid is ahead of others in some ways, and behind them in some ways.

A variety of tests to determine the level of children's abilities appeared at the beginning of the 20th century, the results obtained showed that all children are not the same. However, such tests did not allow assessing the imagination, aspiration, emotionality and other qualities that make up the individuality of the individual.

The tests that are offered in this book are designed precisely with these qualities in mind and show the general level at which the child performs tasks. Thus, in addition to the level of development (sufficient, high and gifted), parents can also calculate the so-called IQ of their child based on the test results. [ IQ]. This coefficient can be calculated by dividing the child's so-called mental age by his actual age. For example, a child with a mental age of 7 and an actual 5 has an IQ of (7:5 = 1,40 or 140, as it is commonly believed in the international dimension).

Videos puzzles for kids

I. Questions aimed at studying the general outlook:

What needs to be done to make the water boil? (the best answer is to put it on the fire, on the stove, light the gas, turn on the stove, etc.).

Give me the four seasons. (answer - winter, spring, autumn - in any order; hint - what season is it now? what do we have now?).

II. Questions aimed at studying the ability to make independent decisions, ingenuity:

What will you do if you lose a toy that was given to you for a while to play, for example, your friend? (the best answer is I’ll give mine away, I’ll get the same one and give it back, I’ll ask my parents to buy such a toy and give me another one, etc.)

What will you do if you come to the store for bread and there is no bread in the store? (the best answer is - I'll go to another store, ask when they will bring it and come back later, buy something in return - a bun, etc.).

III. Questions aimed at studying the child's ability to generalize, to find common features of objects:

How are a cat and a mouse similar, and what do they have in common? (the best answer is animals, mammals, living beings, animals. It is acceptable to list individual common features: tail, mustache, 4 paws, etc. Hint: Who is this, how can they be called in one word?).

How are the piano and violin similar? (the best answer is musical instruments).

The child must correctly answer at least three questions, one from each group.

Children who are not able to answer these questions correctly need an additional examination by a psychoneurologist or psychologist. They are hardly ready for schooling according to the general curriculum.

Examination of children 9-10 years old

Assessment of the formation of abstract-logical operations, logical judgments:

I. The child is asked to find common ground in two compared objects. Instruction: “I will name two objects for you, and you think and tell me what is common between them? How can they be called in one word?

Pairs for comparison:

Plum - peach (Correct answers: fruits, fruit trees, fruits).

Cat - mouse (Animals, mammals, living beings).

    Piano - violin (Musical instruments).

II. The child is asked a series of questions, for each of them there are three possible answers, the child must choose one of them.

What word would be opposite in meaning to the word "collect"? (Correct answers: distribute or accumulate or save).

Given a number series: 7, 5, 3, what is the next number in this series? 2 or 1 or 9.

Three boys live in the same house: Vova, Petya and Seryozha. Vova is younger than Petya, and Seryozha is younger than Vova. Who is the oldest? Vova or Petya or Seryozha.

For children of this age, the implementation of these tasks is mandatory.

Correct answers testify to the formation of abstract-logical judgments. If a child experiences difficulties, then we can talk about the prevalence of forms of thinking, about a developmental delay.

In addition, children of this age can be offered tasks related to counting operations and problem solving.

Tasks:

The seller had 12 newspapers, he sold 5. How many are left?

How much do 3 pencils cost 7 kopecks each?

Four boys had 73 kopecks. They divided them equally among themselves. How much did each one have?

The proposed tasks a child of this age must solve without errors. If he experiences difficulties, it is necessary to find out what kind they are.

The impossibility to draw up a solution plan and choose the necessary mathematical operation speaks of the unformed mental plan of action, which testifies in favor of mental retardation.
