The M5 highway is the most emergency section. The most dangerous roads in Russia

Roads are still one of the two main problems in Russia. Getting bogged down in mud and potholes is a common thing for us, but there are worse trails, after which you risk not returning home at all ...

Sochi "skalnik"

Throughout the 20th century, one had to get from Sochi to Krasnaya Polyana along a "rocky" with a length of just over three kilometers - one of the most picturesque, but also the most dangerous road in Russia. The road is so narrow that it is unlikely that two cars will pass on it. In addition, rockfalls here are an almost daily occurrence.

It is not possible to count the number of victims of this road, but every 50-100 meters you can see signs of death - crosses, memorial plates with flowers, tablets, icons. One of the tunnels is called: “Bring me, Lord!”. And at the entrance to it, a huge icon of the Mother of God is driven into the rock.

Just 15 years ago, this road was the main and busy, now there is a normal safe route, but some drivers in the old fashioned way or in pursuit of thrills still drive on the rock at their own peril and risk.

Highway "Kolyma"

The road from Yakutsk to Magadan is a real strength test for a driver. Although it claimed the most lives at the construction stage in the middle of the last century. Then prisoners were sent to build the highway in the wilderness - prisoners worked in unbearable conditions, no one reckoned with losses. They say that the dead were rammed directly into the roadbed.

Nowadays, the road is covered with ice for most of the year, naturally there are no fences on the highway, so it’s not surprising to crash here. An even more dangerous prospect is to get stuck in the middle of the track. Signs of civilization along the 500 kilometers of the route appear very rarely, there are practically no gas stations, so you should definitely take a canister of gasoline with you in reserve.

If, nevertheless, they got stuck, then you can wait for help for a long time - cars rarely drive here, and instead of help, you can run into bandits, who are in bulk in Kolyma.

Route "Lena"

In 2006, the federal highway A360 "Lena" was noted by the world media, putting it in first place in the list of the most dangerous roads in the world. Even the famous "road of death" in Bolivia was left behind. And after all, this is not some kind of rural road, but a federal highway, but almost along its entire length it is a primer, which turns into quicksand from frequent rains.

It would seem that after an injection from the world media, the authorities began to stir and began the reconstruction of the route, but the repair only added to the dangers. So, last summer, photos of the repaired section of the road appeared on the network, which, without any warning signs, is interrupted by a dense forest. An unexpected break in the road caused many accidents.

Road to Kazenoy-Am

Lake Kazenoy-Am in Chechnya is one of the most beautiful places in Russia, but the road there is not a test for the faint of heart. A few years ago, one could run into militants along the road, now everything seems to be calm from this point of view, but the road has not stopped taking lives.

The fact is that the road to the lake is a narrow serpentine, which is very eroded during rain. Therefore, quite often cars, trucks and even entire buses with people do not reach their destination, falling into a cliff.

Kuban "road to hell"

Finally, the most statistically dangerous road in Russia is the A146 Krasnodar - Verkhnebakansky highway. The road to the sea is very popular; every summer tourists go to Anapa and Crimea along it. It would seem that, unlike the road to Sochi, this route runs mostly along the plain, but it is on it that the most deaths occur. There are 5 corpses for every 10 km of the road, so be careful - you can’t relax even on the most harmless sections of the road.

The Interregional Center "For the Safety of Russian Roads" published the TOP of the most dangerous roads in Russia for the first two months of this year. The list includes tracks from 33 regions

The calculations were carried out using a formula that includes the number of inhabitants of the region, road mileage, car fleet, the number of car accidents, deaths and injuries in them, an equalization coefficient that raises or lowers regions with a large population or car fleet in the rating.

As a result, 17 regions are on the "black list". Among the outsiders are Moscow and the Moscow region. On the bottom line was the Perm region. Accidents, according to the center's specialists, in these regions occurred due to the poor condition of highways.

Highway "Lena" - the most dangerous road in Russia

The first place in the ranking of the most dangerous roads in Russia rightfully goes to the Lena highway. The federal highway A360, known to everyone as Lena, passes into the no less dangerous Kolyma highway, as well as the Syktyvkar-Koslan highway. The Lena highway is a federal highway, the length of which is 1,235 km.

In the atlas of Russian highways, the A360 highway is marked with an orange stripe (the same as the highway connecting Moscow with St. Petersburg) and is considered a "hard-surfaced highway of national importance." In reality, the Lena passes mainly through the permafrost. There are many sections on the track where there is no coverage at all. That is why it was awarded the title of the most dangerous road in Russia.

After the rains, the roadbed is washed out, and the equipment sinks in the mud "bath". Many believe that the traffic situation has become more complicated with the start of operation of the railway line on the Berkakit-Tommot section. The road was not designed for 40-60-ton vehicles that transported materials for construction.

The main part of the most dangerous road in Russia is a primer, its width is about 7 m. The section of the Aldan-Tommot highway is considered the most dangerous, despite the good road surface. The State traffic inspectorate explains this by the fact that drivers relax after driving through the pits and constant stress. Behind the Tommot settlement (even if it is dry), the car can still easily get stuck in the sand. The most dangerous interval is located between the village of Kachikatsy and the river. Mundurucci.

When it rains, the road is washed out, and bulldozers rush to the rescue. Some are pulling out stuck cars, others are trying to fill up the hole.

True, there are no problems with roadside service along the federal highway - a fairly large number of cafes have been built in the villages. As for gas stations, there are few of them. Therefore, it is worth taking fuel in reserve.

Second place - track "Kolyma"

Silver in the rating of the most dangerous roads in Russia goes to the Kolyma highway. Kolyma tract officially bears the name of the federal highway "Kolyma". It originates in Magadan, passes through the pole of cold, located in the region of the village of Tomtor, and ends in Yakutsk. The length of another most dangerous road in Russia is 2,032 km. The section between Khandyga and Magadan is called the Road of Bones. During its construction, a large number of Gulag prisoners died.

The second place among the most dangerous roads in Russia is the Kolyma highway

The unpaved road "Kolyma" passes through the plains and mountains. In a week you can meet only one car here, and even then not always. Therefore, if the equipment breaks down here, and there is no one around and the thermometer is 50-60 degrees below zero, then, waiting for help, you can easily die from the cold.

The amount of dust is also surprising, because of which you have to drive, focusing on instruments, even during the day. The road workers say that it is difficult to build and repair the Kolyma tract: either the stream will wash away the ground, or the ground will move.

The most dangerous road in Komi - "Syktyvkar-Koslan"

The third place in the list of the most dangerous roads in Russia is occupied by the Syktyvkar-Koslan highway. The most dangerous route of the Komi Republic is a kind of gift to those who cannot live without extreme sports. Dirt, rotten bridges and deserted taiga - all this can be more than enjoyed while traveling through it. This route is not on the map, but about 10 cars pass through it every day.

About 500 km from Syktyvkar to the Udora region, of which 200 km is asphalt, the rest is off-road. But here's the paradox - in many villages, food can be delivered only along this road.

Here, just like on Lena and Kolyma, the road is washed out, cars get stuck in the mud and wait for help. The wait can take up to a week. But most of all, rotten wooden bridges are frightening. At the entrance to each, knowledgeable drivers first inspect the condition of the bridge and only then make a decision on further movement.

Even A. Pushkin wrote about the troubles of Russia. One of them is bad roads. Since that time, little has changed. Despite the fact that it is the 21st century, the question of the state of most of Russia's highways remains open. In fairness, it must be said that bad roads are not only Russia's problem: Europe also has a list of the most unsafe highways. The most dangerous roads in Europe pass through Slovenia and Hungary.

An article about the 10 most dangerous roads in Russia. Characteristics of dangerous federal highways of the country. At the end of the article - an interesting video about the dangerous roads of the north of Russia.

The content of the article:

Studies of Russian roads are carried out annually by various organizations. The All-Russian People's Front, Rosavtodor, public centers fighting for road safety collect data on the total number of accidents, including fatalities, the level of crime on the roads of Russia and other important information in order to identify sad leaders among dangerous highways for motorists.

On the basis of the conducted studies, it was revealed that more than 6 thousand people die every year on almost a hundred existing routes. Having carried out elementary calculations with the length of the routes and the number of victims of road accidents, depressing statistics were obtained: for every 100 km there are 12 dead people, that is, every 8 km they claim 1 life.

In 2015, the Ural, Volga and Caucasus highways were recognized as anti-leaders among the roads, and the Moscow Region and the Krasnodar Territory took the first places among federal roads.

Experts believe that the main reason for such a high death rate is the illiterate regulation of road safety. Thus, many regions use all allocated funds for the purchase of equipment to fix violations. And the fines introduced thanks to them also do not go to ensure the traffic safety program.

Rosavtodor calls the main causes of accidents driving into the oncoming lane, speeding and lack of driving culture. The first reason is easy to eliminate by installing flow dividers, which currently have only 40% of all federal highways.

Despite the fact that the tasks of the target federal program are not being solved, the state annually reduces the amount of budget funds allocated for it. So, in 2015, it decreased by 600 million rubles.

Anti-rating of federal highways

1. A 146 Krasnodar-Verkhnebakansky

The main Kuban route is recognized as the most dangerous in Russia. It runs through a number of densely populated villages, through which hundreds of thousands of tourists annually travel towards the warm waters of the Black Sea.

The road originates in the capital of the Kuban and deepens into Novorossiysk, passing mostly along the plain, only after Krymsk meeting with low-mountain terrain and the Wolf Gate Pass.

The asphalt highway is 8-18 meters wide for 2-4 traffic lanes, respectively, in some places dividing barriers are installed. However, this did not stop the road from becoming the anti-leader of our rating with 5 victims for every 10 km.

2. R 217 Caucasus

The most picturesque, but also the most difficult track in the country, replete with ascents, descents and serpentines. With a total length of 1118 km, this road crosses the Terek, Kuban and Argun rivers three times, pleases with good coverage and beautiful views. The disadvantages include the width of the track - two-lane traffic does not allow overtaking and any other maneuvers on the road.

Quite recently, there was a big problem on the section of the highway near the village of Korkmaskala, which, for all its danger, did not have a sufficient level of illumination and even a traffic light at the intersection. Only after a prosecutor's check and a corresponding order, the road services brought the highway into proper condition.

3. A 155 Cherkessk-Dombay

The track takes only 143 km, which can be covered in 2.5 hours. It survived a major overhaul and a thorough restoration of the bridge over the Teberda River, has markings. Up to Ust-Dzheguta there is a 4-lane traffic, which then turns into 2 lanes.

The danger of the route lies in the fact that it passes through forest and mountainous areas, which can not always be overcome in bad weather conditions. Although the mountain slopes are reinforced and have a protective net, it is not recommended to go to these sections of the route in winter and late autumn.

The most difficult section of the road is considered to be the section between Karachaevsk and Teberda, which is characterized by a strong narrowing of the road and a large number of sharp turns.

4. A 290 Novorossiysk-Kerch

The 166-kilometer track suffers the most from weather conditions. In summer, the hottest period, the authorities even prohibit trucks from crossing the highway during the daytime in order to avoid damaging the asphalt pavement.

The section of the road on the approach to the Kavkaz port was in a very deplorable state, where there were many minor and major damages, as well as problems with drainage.

With a fairly heavy traffic of 20 thousand cars per day, the route has only 2, in some sections 3 lanes.

5. A 104 Moscow-Dmitrov-Dubna

Laid along the canal. Moscow's 125-meter highway has long exhausted its capacity, forming monstrous traffic jams. The authorities finally undertook a colossal restructuring of the road, including in order to increase its safety. The scope of work includes the reconstruction of utilities, electric lighting lines, retaining walls, spans and beams, widening of the roadway, arrangement of traffic lightless traffic, as well as the division of flows into different levels and the installation of noise barriers.

6. M10 Russia

One of the oldest directions from Moscow through Tver and Veliky Novgorod to the cultural capital of our country also did not escape the shameful rating. The route is securely assigned the title of "emergency and difficult" due to the numerous sharp turns, descents and ascents, places with limited visibility and sections that run along the dams of reservoirs.

As part of the traffic program, the track was equipped with 30,000 reflective elements, and a 42-kilometer cable barrier structure was installed. Its purpose is to separate the flows of oncoming traffic. In just 10 months of operation, the number of accidents at the upgraded site decreased by 20%.

7. A 240 Bryansk-Novozybkov

The highway borders on the Republic of Belarus and often gets into the news reports as one of the most emergency. In winter, mobile emergency stations for motorists have become a familiar sight. Although during the period of snowfalls all road services of the Bryansk region are transferred to emergency mode, the situation with drivers freezing on the highway has been repeated for several years.

During a statistical study of dangerous roads in Russia, it was revealed that out of 74 million rubles allocated for ensuring safe traffic, almost half was spent on equipment for fixing violations, more than 20 million - on updating thermoplastic road markings, 3 million - on the purchase and the installation of road signs, a total of 1 million - for the wire fence described above. There were not enough funds for traffic lights, pedestrian barriers, or accident prevention.

In 2015, a major overhaul of a 13-kilometer section of the route was carried out using the latest technologies. Thus, the laid coating is mixed from foamed bitumen with asphalt concrete warm mixes, and a geogrid is fixed between the layers of asphalt from the potential occurrence of cracks. A lighting system was set up along the route, road signs were installed and drainage systems were installed.

8. M3 Ukraine

Built under Khrushchev, the 500-kilometer highway runs through the Moscow, Kursk and Bryansk regions, looking along the way into the family nest of the Secretary General - the village of Kalinovka.

For 40 years of operation, the road lined with concrete slabs has fallen into an extremely deplorable state. Prior to Kaluga, its condition can be described as tolerable - a site in the Bryansk region has been repaired. The rest of the mileage consists of potholes of varying degrees of depth and width, in some places the road workers laid asphalt on top of the dilapidated concrete, which caused even larger cracks.

Therefore, "Ukraine" is especially dangerous during bad weather, when pits and ruts are insidiously hidden by rain. This is probably why the highway is not the busiest in the country.

9. A 151 Tsivilsk-Ulyanovsk

In general, this is a 3-lane highway of average quality, which runs through flat terrain. Getting into the rating of dangerous roads was due to a steep descent near the village of Shikhazany, where a speed limit of 50 km / h is set, which regulates the traffic police post.

There is a school in the village of Kalaikasy right next to the highway. The section of the road opposite it is equipped with a traffic light and a pedestrian crossing, which, unfortunately, does not always save children from reckless drivers.

10. M7 Volga

One of the most "dacha" directions, leading from Moscow to Vladimir and further to Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Ufa, has over a dozen sections of increased accident rate. Only in the Petushinsky district, 4 places cause concern - at 100, 106, 107 and 120 kilometers.

The main causes of accidents on this road are non-observance of the distance and speed limit by motorists, driving into the oncoming lane, incorrect rebuilding on the lane, as well as pedestrians entering the carriageway.

In Lakinsk, where there are a large number of intersections, pedestrian crossings and numerous junctions to the main highway, pedestrians are very often run over, non-observance of the rules for crossing intersections and speeding.

Conclusion

Other equally popular routes can supplement our tragic list:

  • M-58 Chita - Skovorodino where swampy soil washes away poor-quality coverage, causing "waves" and pits. There are practically no gas stations here, which forces you to stock up on your own fuel. And at night, cases of attacks by criminal gangs on motorists are not uncommon.
  • A360 "Lena" Never - Yakutsk in general it is difficult to call the track. This is a broken road, shrouded in clouds of dust in the summer and impassable even in the "Ural" in the fall. But the main problem is the lack of a bridge across the Lena River. In the summer, there is a queue for the ferry crossing, in winter it is proposed to move directly on the ice with the risk of being under it in case of a thaw.
  • M-5 "Ural" outwardly it is distinguished by high-quality coating, the presence of cafes, hotels and gas stations. But the extreme congestion of the highway leads to a high accident rate, and due to the concentration of correctional camps along the highway, to a frightening percentage of crime.
The great Alexander Sergeevich wrote about the troubles of Russian roads. Since then, 2 centuries have passed, and the situation has not changed much. You can console yourself with the fact that in Europe, especially in Hungary and Slovenia, there are unsafe tracks. But still, next year I would like the rating of dangerous Russian roads to be at least halved.

Video about dangerous roads in the north of Russia:

Topped the list road A-146, leading from Krasnodar to the village of Verkhnebakansky (almost Novorossiysk). On this highway, only 150 km long, running mainly along fields and forests, in 2015, not so many people died - 71, and only 211 accidents occurred. 10 km of the federal highway. According to these data, the figure was 4.75 - the largest among all roads in Russia.

For every 100 km of federal highways, there are 12.3 deaths as a result of road accidents. In second place was the regional highway R-217 "Kavkaz". It starts in the village of Pavlovskaya and stretches a little over 1,100 kilometers to the Dagestan village of Yarag-Kazmalyar on the border with Azerbaijan. 462 people lost their lives on it, and the number of registered accidents was 1,251. According to the statistics proposed by the ONF, this is 3.49 deaths per 10 km.

Russian part of the Military Sukhumi roads A-155 from Cherkessk to the border with the Republic of Abkhazia ranked third with a rating of 3.01. Its length is exactly the same as that of the leader of the sad rating, but the number of deaths in 2015 is less - 45 people, as well as the number of accidents - 153.

The trips of Russians to the Crimean peninsula in 2015 were fraught with considerable dangers. Highway A-290, leading from Novorossiysk to Kerch with a mandatory ferry crossing, took fourth place with a rating of 2.92. At 143.9 km last year there were 128 accidents in which 42 people lost their lives.

Fifth place takes us from the south of Russia to the Moscow region. Highway A-104, passing along the Moscow Canal from the capital to the science city of Dubna through the city of Dmitrov, claimed the lives of 29 people in a year and witnessed 103 accidents. The rating of this highway is 2.9 dead per 10 km.

Almost 740 km from Moscow to St. Petersburg according to the federal highway M-10 familiar to millions of Russians, but this journey is also very risky. 210 people who died in 742 accidents are deplorable evidence of this. The rating of this road is 2.85, sixth place. I would like to believe that with the advent of paid sites, the situation will change for the better.

And again to the south, more precisely, to the southwest. Road A-240, leading from Bryansk to the border with the Republic of Belarus, became the seventh in the list, having received 2.64 points from callous extras. Only 216 km, 115 accidents in 2015 and, alas, 57 dead.

Kyiv highway, which bears the official name M-3 "Ukraine", is listed on the eighth line with 2.62 points. From Moscow to the border with Ukraine - 480 km, where 570 accidents and 126 deaths were registered last year.

Slightly less dangerous 200-kilometer highway A-151 Tsivilsk-Ulyanovsk, she is in ninth place with a score of 2.61. In 2015, there were 130 accidents and 52 deaths on this section of the federal road network.

The leader in the number of deaths in road accidents is Libya: there are 73.4 deaths for every 100 km of roads. The tenth line went to the longest motorway (1,972 km) M-7 "Volga". The largest number of accidents among all ten - two thousand, and the death toll was 494 people, also happened here. Despite the largest figures, in statistical terms, this is 2.5 deaths per 10 km.

In total, there are 96 federal roads on the list (it is possible with it), on which 6,212 people lost their lives in 2015. ONF experts calculated that for every 100 km (the total length is 50.5 thousand kilometers) there are 12.3 deaths in road accidents.

Interestingly, the data of the World Health Organization (WHO) for 2015 for all roads in Russia are different: there are 18.9 deaths for every 100 km. In the US, according to WHO, 10.6 people die on average for every hundred kilometers, in Germany - 4.3, in Great Britain - 2.9, and in Kazakhstan - 24.2. But the leader among all countries of the world is Libya: there are 73.4 deaths for every 100 km.
