World Arbor Day. Irkutsk regional branch of the all-Russian public organization

On May 21, 2016, the central action "All-Russian Forest Planting Day" will take place. The campaign has been held by the Federal Forestry Agency for the sixth consecutive year since 2011. As part of the action, events are being held throughout Russia to plant forests, create squares, alleys, parks, plant greenery in cities, towns, hospitals, schools, kindergartens, and arrange recreation areas in the forest.

On May 21, 2016, 656.7 hectares of forest or 2.6 million trees will be planted in the forests of the Baikal natural zone affected by forest fires. The action will unite three regions at once: the Irkutsk Region, Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory. The action starts simultaneously at three venues: in Irkutsk, Chita and Ulan-Ude. Scotch pine will be the main species to be planted on the sites.

The main platform for the action will be the 21 quarter of the Gorokhovsky district forestry of the Irkutsk forestry near the village of Ust-Baley, not far from Irkutsk. Here, on an area of 45 hectares, 188,000 pines will be planted. It is planned that up to 1,000 people will take part in the action at the central site. When selecting sites for the action in 2016, the task was set to bring tree planting sites as close as possible to settlements so that citizens could participate not only in planting forests, but also in the subsequent care of the created forests.

The action will be attended by the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation Sergey Donskoy, the head of the Federal Forestry Agency Ivan Valentik, the Government of the Irkutsk region and the chairman of the All-Russian environmental public movement "Green Russia" K.Yu. Kurchenkov. Front-line soldiers of the All-Russian Popular Front and volunteers from Green Russia and Detachment 1508, who helped put out forest fires, will also make their contribution.

In 2015, 3.5 million people took part in the action, 44 million trees were planted, as a result of which 13.7 thousand hectares of new forests appeared, 8.3 thousand hectares of which were on forest fund lands and 5.4 thousand hectares in the territory of municipal districts.

This year, more than 50 million trees are planned to be planted as part of the campaign. The action started in April in the Crimean, Southern, North Caucasian and southern regions of the Central and Volga federal districts. In Sevastopol, lilac bushes were planted in the area of the Sapun Gora memorial complex, in the Oryol region, on the eve of the 450th anniversary of the Eagle, symbolic 450 trees and shrubs were planted, in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, oaks and ash trees were planted in the Victory Park. In the Stavropol region, the action was held under the slogan "Let's save the nature of the Stavropol region." In the Volgograd region, this day is held under the auspices of the "Forest of Victory" action. In the Kursk region, landscaping was carried out on the territory of the Poklonnaya Vysota 269 memorial complex at the Teplovskie Heights. In the Saratov region, the action was held under the title "Planting a tree is a good deed." In the Moscow Region, 1.2 million trees were planted on an area of 320 hectares last weekend. Military foresters have planted an alley of memory of 800 lindens and planted a memorial grove of 6,500 pines and birches, and they are still planting forests.

The spring forestry season is in full swing. Reforestation is planned for this year on a total area of 762.8 thousand hectares. Work has already been completed on 97.5 thousand hectares, that is, 341.3 million trees have already been planted.

“This year, the silvicultural and forest fire seasons began almost simultaneously. Despite the fact that we need to extinguish the forests now, we must not forget our work as foresters. It is important not to miss the time of spring planting - it gives the highest survival rate. It's nice that hundreds of thousands of people throughout the country responded to our call - from statesmen and volunteers of public organizations to ordinary residents. Last year, the action, passing through Russia, united 4.5 million people - from the Crimea to Murmansk and from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok. We hope that this year the number of participants will be even greater. The person who planted the forest himself will always take care of it, treat it with respect and love,” Ivan Valentik, Head of Rosleskhoz, commented on the action.

The information support department of the Federal Forestry Agency (Rosleskhoz) announced that on May 21 this year the central action "All-Russian Forest Planting Day" will take place.

The annual campaign "All-Russian Forest Planting Day" was first held by the Federal Forestry Agency in 2011. During this campaign, events are held throughout the Russian Federation aimed at planting new seedlings of forest trees, creating squares, alleys, parks, planting greenery in urban areas, villages, hospitals, schools, kindergartens, etc.

On May 21 this year, 656.7 hectares of forest (2.6 million trees) will be planted on the territory of the Baikal natural zone. Recall that the Baikal forests were badly damaged by forest fires. The main species for planting on the sites will be Scots pine. The action will be held simultaneously in three regions: the Irkutsk region, Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory.

It should be noted that last year 3.5 million people took part in the All-Russian Forest Planting Day. As a result of last year's campaign, 44 million new seedlings were planted, which contributed to the emergence of 13.7 thousand hectares of new forests. In 2016, it is planned to increase the number of planted trees to 50 million.

“Noise, noise, green forest! I know your majestic noise,
And your peace, and the brilliance of heaven above your curly head.
From childhood I used to understand your silent silence
And your mysterious language is like something close, dear ... "

Ivan Nikitin sincerely loved nature, however, like many other lyric poets: for example, Sergei Yesenin, Mikhail Lermontov, Afanasy Fet - otherwise the abundance of poems about the beauty of native spaces cannot be explained in any way. It is a pity that such a reverent attitude towards green spaces can be traced exclusively in theory - at least today.

In practice, the planet's forests, and Russian ones in particular, are mercilessly cut down in order to obtain high-quality wood, for the manufacture of paper, furniture, building materials, in order to clear the territory for the construction of various buildings, laying roads. But still there is hope that our country will not turn into a continuous steppe in one "beautiful" day. Every year in Russia, a great event for the domestic nature is celebrated - Forest Planting Day. And this happens not at home, sitting at the festive table, but in the fresh air - with a shovel and young seedlings in their hands.

The history of the holiday All-Russian forest planting day

All-Russian Forest Planting Day falls on the second Saturday of May each year. In 2020, the holiday is scheduled for May 9, but this decision is not final, because the weather can present a not too pleasant surprise and thus mix all the cards.

Traditionally, Forest Planting Day is more of a public action than a solemn event. It goes as follows: forestry enterprises prepare in advance for the holiday, allocate territories for landscaping and the required amount of planting material. Then they recruit a group of volunteers who want to take part in the elimination of the deplorable consequences of widespread deforestation, hand them the required tools, inform them about the rules for planting young trees and give them the opportunity to feel like a creator, not a destroyer.

Everyone can join in an act of goodwill that is useful for the entire Russian population. It is not at all necessary to go to the forestry - it is enough to go out on your own personal plot that day, if you live in a private house, or to the courtyard of a high-rise building and work a little for the benefit of others. Even if the quality and quantity of your seedlings does not fit in with the concept of the forest, all the same, such efforts will not be in vain.

Who came up with the idea of choosing one day a year to restore the regularly destroyed "green lungs" of the planet? This is John Morton from the US state of Nebraska, who arrived in the Wild West in the century before last and was unable to come to terms with the massive destruction of vegetation by the colonists during the settlement on the new land. "Tree Day" was the name of the annual action, which was started by a resourceful Briton. This holiday provoked the emergence of another important event - the International Day of the Earth.

However, people followed the example of Morton not only on a general scale, but also within the framework of individual states. The All-Russian Day of the Forest appeared thanks to the UN, whose representatives declared the recent 2011 the International Year of Green Spaces. This important step for the whole world was approved by the Government of the Russian Federation - and this is how a holiday similar to Tree Day appeared directly in our country.

The benefits of forests and the harm of their deforestation

The All-Russian Forest Planting Day holiday is a great occasion to look into biology.

Even a child knows why we plant trees. They are called the "green lungs" of the Earth in all school biology textbooks and absolutely deservedly so. The main purpose of forests is indeed the release of oxygen into the atmosphere and the absorption of carbon dioxide, the absorption of dust. In addition, certain tree species generously share with us their useful components, for example, phytoncides, due to which a large number of pathogenic bacteria die in the air.

An interesting function is performed by tropical forests. They regulate air temperature, influencing the formation of weather conditions and the supply of drinking water on the planet. Although there is an opinion that a decrease in temperature near slender trunks with lush crowns is the ability of green spaces of any kind, regardless of their qualitative composition and location. In terms of the volume of carbon absorbed, the first place on Earth is occupied by the forests of the Arctic, the last by the sparse vegetation of the tundra. If you look at green spaces from the point of view of practical benefits for humans, then forests make it possible to conduct agricultural work, in particular, the cultivation of crops. Forest belts hold back winds and snow, being natural barriers to adverse environmental factors.

Few people know about the ability of green spaces to reduce the overall level of radiation caused both by the intense solar activity of the daylight, and by various structures made of granite, concrete, etc. In addition to photosynthesis, a breathing process occurs in plant organisms, as a result of which the environmental air is saturated with moisture . Just imagine, a single beech emits more than half a ton of water in the form of water gas per day!

And the human body recognizes an increase in air humidity as a slight decrease in temperature, which is indispensable in the hot season for normal health. The crowns of trees even absorb sounds - you must admit, this fact is a direct recommendation for planting green giants within settlements, especially cities.

Forests, squares, parks during a stay in these territories make a person forget about pressing problems, give aesthetic pleasure to the eyes, peace to the soul, give rise to a taste for life. This must be taken into account by all those who are tired of the monotony of everyday life, as well as the initiators of cutting down trees - so that they think about what they are depriving the population of the Earth.

Clusters of woody plants, called forests, in addition to performing useful functions, keep hundreds of secrets. Cutting down natural healers can lead to tragic consequences not only for nearby settlements, but for the planet as a whole. Thus, scientists have found that the mass destruction of forests provokes the melting of ice in the northern latitudes of the Earth, and the cleansing of territories from tree crops affects the entire ecosystem functioning under the forest canopy, disrupts the microclimate, and deprives many species of animals and plants of their place of residence. Today, according to the results of regular cuttings, every fifth representative of the flora is on the verge of extinction.

So for health and good mood we pay the forest with murder. Yes, yes, a real murder, forgetting that trees are living organisms, quite ancient, capable of even “talking” with each other. Meanwhile, over the past 10 thousand years, Eurasia has lost more than half of its natural wealth in the form of forests.

For the first time on the territory of the Irkutsk region, the All-Russian Forest Planting Day was held under the leadership of the Forestry Agency in 2011, and the number of participants in this important event is increasing every year.

About 1,200 people gathered for the All-Russian Forest Planting Day-2016 - over the past 5 years, this is the largest number of participants!

Flags, colorful streamers, music, a spacious stage with the invocative slogan "Plant a tree - save Baikal" - all this is evidence of the special importance of the event. Sunny weather, atmosphere of unity and friendliness. On this day, colleagues, friends and just acquaintances met and congratulated each other on the holiday on the forest plot.

At the opening ceremony of the All-Russian Forest Planting Day, the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation S.E. Donskoy, head of the Federal Forestry Agency I.V. Valentik, Chairman of the Government of the Irkutsk region A.S. Bitarov, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk Region K.R. Aldarov. All speeches emphasized the special importance of joint actions in the conservation and restoration of forests, the prevention of forest and peat fires.

S.E. Donskoy gave a positive assessment to the public environmental movement, wished success and even greater perseverance in preserving the nature of the Baikal region, and I.V. Valentik presented educational and public organizations with commemorative awards with the inscription "For active participation in the conservation and restoration of Baikal forests." The Irkutsk Regional Branch of the All-Russian Society for the Conservation of Nature was named the first among the 4 awarded, then the Palace of Creativity of the city of Irkutsk, the Center for the Development of Additional Education for Children of the Irkutsk Region and the All-Russian Movement "Green Russia".

The Regional Society for the Protection of Nature is a permanent and most numerous participant in the All-Russian Forest Planting Day. By tradition, the VOOP team includes students from universities and technical schools, the Youth Ecological Center named after. V.P. Bryansky, teachers of the Irkutsk regional station of young naturalists, as well as representatives of socially active residents of Irkutsk - a total of 90 people.

More than 18,000 pine seedlings have been planted in the allotment allotted to the society for nature protection - this is our common contribution to the restoration of the forests of the Baikal region.

On behalf of the head of the forestry agency of the Irkutsk region S.V. Sheverda, the regional branch of the VOOP was awarded with Gratitude with the words: “2016 has been declared the Year of Forest Regeneration. Forest planting day has become a good and bright tradition! On this day we give life to new trees! Through the efforts of more than a thousand people, 45 hectares of forest crops were created in the Irkutsk forestry, 188 thousand seedlings were planted. In 100 years there will be a pine forest here, and each of us will have good memories of the useful work done together!”
