The writer was so amazed that he decided to write a series of stories - a kind of sermons, in an entertaining way moving people to compassion, to actively improve the lot of the poor, to the moral "correction of the rich." "Summer of the Lord", I. Shmelev

The well-known book reviewer Evgenia Shaffert writes about the Christmas chapter of this book: “... You will not find such a poetic description of Russian holidays and traditions anywhere else. I would start my “Christmas reading” with the chapter on Christmas from the book by I. Shmelev: Before Christmas, three days, in the markets, in the squares, there is a forest of Christmas trees. And what trees! This goodness in Russia as much as you want. Not like here - stamens. At our Christmas tree ... as it warms up, spreads its paws, - a thicket. There used to be a forest on Theater Square. They stand in the snow. And the snow will fall - lost the way! Guys, in sheepskin coats, as in the forest. People walk, choose. Dogs in Christmas trees are like wolves, right. Bonfires are burning, get warm. Smoke pillars. Sbitenshchiki walk, go round in the trees

Publishing house "White Crow"

Hello everyone, I am writing the promised list of New Year and winter books for our children.

I'll start with books for ages 1-3.

1) I. Surikov "Childhood". On a fragment of the well-known poem "Here is my village ..." artist Mikhail Bychkov wrote absolutely incredible illustrations. They convey the atmosphere of a Russian village in winter so subtly that one even seems to feel the tingling of frost on the cheeks, and the howl of a blizzard is heard outside the window. So much warmth, light, comfort. I already wrote about this book in a previous post, but I decided to remind you of it again, because it suits our subject just in time.

For an adult, this book is nostalgic, reading it, as if plunging into childhood, remembering something dear and long forgotten. For a child, this is a magical and very beautiful fairy tale with many amazing details, as well as an opportunity to get acquainted with the peasant life.

2) Nick Butterworth "One Winter Night"

A book with a simple but very sweet story about a good watchman Uncle Willie. The plot is in many ways reminiscent of "Teremok": the poor frozen little animals came on a icy winter night to the watchman, who did not refuse anyone an overnight stay and was ready to warm everyone under his blanket. Most of all, the book captivates with a cozy and very winter mood: when the greatest pleasure is to go home from the cold and quickly warm up in an embrace with your loved ones. The book can be started from 1.5 years. The important point is the paperback book.

3) Anu Shtoner "Little Santa Claus"

The book will briefly tell the child who Santa Clauses are, where they live (although some may be confused by the fact that there are many Santa Clauses here). But this is not the main thing. This story is not about the usual Santa Claus, but about a very small one. So small that he was not even allowed to do the main thing in his life - to give gifts to children. However, every person, big or small, can find their happiness and place in life, one has only to look around. It turned out this and the little Santa Claus. In other words, the main idea of the book is that any person is significant and useful in this world, regardless of their size, age, financial situation.

4) Collection "Big New Year's gift"

Advantages of this collection:

First, it's as much as 500 pages of New Year's reading! Really New Year's, and not as often happens in manypseudo-winter books, where anything is collected, but not fairy tales about the New Year and winter. Secondly, finding a collection for a two-year-old is not so easy, basically all publications are designed for older children. And in this book, almost half of the content is quite understandable for a child of 2 years old, the rest can be read later (so the book is not for one year). And, thirdly, this, of course, is the magnificent content of the book - all the most beloved writers of our childhood in excellent design.

The downside, for me personally, is the price. There are almost 1000 Russians on the Labyrinth. rubles. But for such a book you should not spare money!

On the forums, they also write one drawback - due to the large size, weight and integral binding, the book can suffer very quickly, for example, due to a fall.

5) Tim Dawley "Christmas Night"

The perfect book to introduce your child to the holiday of Christmas. And not just dating, but very exciting and interesting. Here, the child is briefly and clearly told about the main biblical events. Each page of the book has movable elements and opening windows that make the book very alive. You can knock with a hammer together with Joseph, shake the baby Jesus in Mary's arms, open the window and see an angel appear. And on the last page you can also see a large voluminous nativity scene!

6) Book with patchwork inserts "Snow Maiden"

The well-known winter Russian folk tale. The book is suitable for kids with 1+, because the text is simplified.

7) "Snow Maiden" with a longer text, and for older children, publishing house "Rech"

8) Russian folk tale "The Mitten" (illustrated by Luke Koopmans)

The plot is very simple and familiar to everyone. But the main value of the book is, of course, illustrations by Luke Koopmans. They are gentle and calm. It is very interesting to follow them as the story progresses, the mitten becomes larger and larger, and the autumn landscape turns into winter, acquiring ever deeper snowdrifts.

9) Poems "What will happen in the New Year"

A very good collection of poems about the New Year and winter. There are Usachev, Barto, Cherny, Grigorieva. The illustrations are pleasant, very colorful, though they do not differ too much in the variety of emotions on the faces of the characters.

10) A. Schmachtl "The Adventures of Julius Dandelion. Save the New Year"

In the rabbit family, preparations for the New Year are in full swing, only in the pre-holiday bustle everyone forgot about the most important thing - the New Year tree. Little rabbit Julius decides to save the New Year and go in search of a Christmas tree on his own. Having overcome all difficulties, he, of course, copes with this difficult task, and the whole family celebrates the New Year next to the Christmas tree, decorated with carrots and apples.

Delicate watercolor illustrations in the book are beyond praise. A good book to create a magical pre-holiday mood.

11) Nancy Walker Guy "Best Christmas Present"

The narrative here is calm and measured, there are few events taking place. But the topic of friendship comes up. A bear, a raccoon and a hare went to visit their friend the badger, but on the way the wind carried away all the gifts that the friends themselves made for the badger. Naturally, this could not but upset friends. However, the badger, meeting the guests, is not at all upset and says very correct and important words that "Christmas with best friends is the most wonderful gift."

12) Rotraut Suzanne Berner "The Winter Book" - the famous Wimmelbuch. This book is very atmospheric: fluffy pre-New Year's snow falls asleep on the streets, the heroes rush to buy and decorate holiday trees, prepare gifts, go skating, skiing, and even Santa Claus himself appears in the city! There are an incredible amount of events and details in the book; it is simply not possible to revise them all at once. Therefore, watch and watch the whole of December!

13) Yu. Kumykov "New Year's story"

Book-toy with 1+. Here the baby has the opportunity to learn the skills of lacing. The kid is invited to "lace up" the mitten to the girl's palm and perform other interesting tasks, for example, tie a bag to Santa Claus. In addition, a very sweet, kind and understandable poem is attached here.

14) Barto, Lagzdyn, Tokmakova “New Year. Bookmark Poems»

Bright beautiful book, suitable from 1+. In the book5 spreads, 5 short poems with fairly large illustrations
(poems by I. Tokmakova, K. Ivanova, G. Lagzdyn, S. Drozhzhin and A. Barto). Fivebookmarks are interesting to turn over to the baby. Wonderful drawings, pages fromthick and durable cardboard.

15) Natalia Migunova "New Year's Tale"

A wonderful verse about how forest animals celebrated the New Year in the forest, decorated the Christmas tree and received gifts from Santa Claus, a good rhyme pleases. O blozhka - dense white cardboard, pages are white compacted, smooth.Suitable for children 1+

16) Alf Preussen "Merry New Year" publishing house Melik Pashaev. Illustrations by V. Suteev.

A short story-in-verse by Norwegian author Alf Preussen.About how the family of mice was preparing for the meeting, and met the New Year! The story is in an excellent translation by Yuri Petrovich Vronsky. Many adults, I'm sure, will remember howAs a child, we celebrated the New Year with just such a book.

17) Raisa Kudashova "A Christmas tree was born in the forest" - Nigma publishing house.

The book contains five wonderful winter poems by Raisa Adamovna Kudasheva, the author of the unforgettable "A Christmas Tree Was Born in the Forest."

The book is illustrated with delicate and airy drawings by Maria Sutyagina.

Books for children 3-5 years old:

1) V. Odoevsky "Moroz Ivanovich"

A fairy tale with an instructive plot, not at all boring, but kind and magical. Once upon a time there was a lazy daughter and a hard-working one. Both of them in turn, descending into the well, fall into the service of the "winter steward" (Moroz Ivanovich). And each of them eventually receives an appropriate reward for their work: a needlewoman - a bucket with silver patches, and a sloth - an ingot of mercury.

2)D. Donaldson "Chelovetkin"

This book is about the fact that everything in nature is alive. And even an ordinary stick can have its own opinion, feelings, and even a family. Wherever the protagonist of Chelovetkin's book was brought: the dog played with him, and the children threw him into the river, and the swan used to build his nest. And in the end, Chelovetkin generally found himself among the firewood in the New Year's fireplace. Being away from home, Chelovetkin dreamed of only one thing - to return to his cane family. So he would have died ingloriously if Santa Claus, who climbed through the fireplace, had not saved him. In other words, a very touching New Year's Eve story.

3) I. Thai "Santa Claus"

The tale is very New Year's, very atmospheric. The plot is not hackneyed, and familiar characters are shown not only from the side we are used to. In addition to Santa Claus, the Snow Maiden and classic little animals, there is a new interesting character Yegor-despite. And the Nightingale the Robber is the main violator of public peace here, he can’t come to terms with the fact that Santa Claus took the best Christmas tree in the forest. The book is divided into chapters, and therefore, if desired, you can read it in parts.

The disadvantage is, in my opinion, not bright enough, large illustrations.

4) V. Zotov "New Year's story"

The illustrations in the book are colorful, bright, with interesting details that you can look at with pleasure. Good book, well written and easy to read. In this "New Year's story", Santa Claus, watching the guys, chose for everyone the most suitable gifts that they had long dreamed of. But the boy Vitya, who behaved badly, did not obey and did not want to study, he left without a gift. The moral of the book is clear. But this model of education is not suitable for every family.

5) Sven Nurdqvist "Christmas in Petson's house"

Sweet, kind New Year's Eve story. The plot of the book is quite simple - before Christmas, the protagonist of the book, Petson, injured his leg, and therefore could not go into the forest for a Christmas tree and shop for holiday treats. Petson was already resigned to the fact that his holiday was ruined, but then the neighbors, having learned about his trouble, began to come in turn, congratulating him on the holiday, and giving him various delicious gifts. Thus, a holiday that promised to be so dreary turned into a merry celebration of Christmas, which Petson had never had before.

I really like the bright, warm illustrations with lots of detail.

6) P. Bazhov "Silver Hoof"

The fairy tale "Silver Hoof" is simply magical, it is about winter, about a miracle, about kindness and patience. Of course, for a modern child, something in the text will turn out to be incomprehensible, something will have to be explained, something will have to be paraphrased. But in general, the plot is understandable and interesting for a three-year-old child. It is from this tale, it seems to me, that it is best to start acquaintance with Bazhov's work. Mikhail Bychkov's illustrations made the fairy tale even more magical and colorful, adding interesting details about the time and place where the events of the fairy tale take place. The disadvantage of the book is the layout. Several spreads in the book have no text at all, which means that you must first read the text, and only then turn the page and look at the picture. In my opinion, this is very inconvenient for children's perception.

7) A. Usachev "Winter's Tale"

You won't get bored reading this book. The lyrics are funny and humorous. Olga Demidova's illustrations are also not boring. Yes, they are not classic, perhaps not everyone will like long-nosed and somewhat angular characters, but, in my opinion, the pictures perfectly complement the funny text, create a cheerful mood.

8) "New Year in reverse"

A wonderful thin collection from the publishing house "Foma". Here are collected poems mainly by contemporary authors, whose names I personally have not yet known. But the poems made me very happy, they are touching and cozy, with humor and a really winter atmosphere.

9) Ulrike Motshiunig "How the fox celebrated the New Year"

The book is not just a beautiful story about how a little fox stuck his nose out of a mink in the winter and went to look for a holiday, but about what a holiday is for every living being! For connoisseurs of magical illustrations.

It is impossible to list all the books with the New Year theme, their number is huge! I would be glad if you add some of your favorite books in the comments. Thank you for your attention.

Safe New Year! Recommendations for parents

Safe New Year

New year is an amazing time when wishes come true and miracles happen. The main thing is to make sure that for your kids the spell does not dissipate from completely non-holiday problems. Therefore, consider how to arrange safe festivities.

On holidays, it is sometimes quite difficult to remember all kinds of "little things". But then we are adults to think about important things. It concerns security children during the long New Year holidays.

Parents should be more careful.

Don't forget that there are general rules that will come in handy always: basics no one canceled fire protection.

You certainly know a lot about this. But it is never out of place to learn something new, and even more important, to organize the information you know and create several algorithms for each specific situation.

safe tree.

Well, what is a holiday without a Christmas tree? None! Someone cannot imagine the New Year without a real tree, but for someone a fluffy artificial substitute is enough. But in both cases, quality matters.

Both buy in specially designated places. Try to get as much information as possible regarding the source of income (or manufacturer) beauties.

Check the artificial Christmas tree for fire resistance security. Ask for permission to present the lighter to the twigs, Rub the twigs (they should not crumble, smell (any unpleasant synthetic smell is a bad sign) If you are not driven away from the goods, there is hope that the tree is genuine. In addition, you must present the conclusion of the sanitary and epidemiological examination.

Don't put your tree near an open flame. (fireplace, heater). Fasten her (especially if there are small children or animals in the house).

Jewelry for beauty. fire fighting security.

Toys, garlands, tinsel... Jewelry must have documentation that indicates that the products are made from environmentally friendly materials. In our country, they have the same requirements as for children's toys. Therefore, feel free to ask for documents that confirm this.

About garlands a special conversation. They must have quality certificates. Pay attention to which company the document was issued. In addition, it must contain a link to a fire certificate.

Be sure to check for exposed wires or any damage to the product or packaging.

Never hang homemade garlands on the Christmas tree.

If the children are small, it is better to get by with toys that do not break.

We hope that you understand that candles are not decoration ... But why not remind you again? Even candles on the New Year's table, which will stand not far from the flammable beauty, is not a very good solution.

Proper use of fireworks

Indoors, you can only indulge in sparklers and crackers. Everything else - on the street, after a detailed study of the instructions.

And main points security(Let the children read):

Do not carry firecrackers in your pockets!

· Do not throw under your feet!

· Do not launch fireworks in strong winds.

· Do not point at people.

· Do not use products that did not work the first time.

· When lighting the wick, do not lean over the box.

· After ignition, move back to the distance indicated in the instructions.

In fact, a lot depends on your inner feeling. A holiday should be a holiday for everyone. The main thing is to think over everything so that New Year was pleasant and safe for everyone.

Happy New Year!

In a distant northern country - in Lapland, in the realm of ice and snow, there is a white palace. Cold beauty and eternal peace surround him. Once upon a time, the Snow Queen lived here, but evil destroyed her. Now Santa Claus lives in her palace. He recently moved here from an old abandoned well. Hurricane winds hid all roads and roads to the palace. And only the Reindeer remembers how to find the palace, and delivers letters to the old Grandfather, which are written to him by adults and children.

On New Year's Eve, the deer had a particularly busy day of work. Letters came from all over the world. Suddenly, the weather began to deteriorate. A gale-force wind came up and swirled in the whirlwinds of the blizzard. “It would be nice to wait until morning,” thought the deer, but after looking at the letter, he decided to immediately set off. The letter was extraordinary. It came along with a package from the guys from Siberia. They sent Santa Claus a gift.

The snow blinded his eyes, but the deer went forward, now sinking into snowdrifts, now sliding on smooth ice. The deer's old enemy, the hungry wolf, also did not sleep that night. He had been waiting for his prey for a long time, hiding behind a huge snowdrift. Opening his mouth and flashing his eyes, the wolf rushed at the deer. From an unexpected attack, the deer dropped the package. The wolf grabbed her and rushed to run. The deer didn't budge. Suddenly, the ice began to crack underfoot. The chase was getting dangerous. The ice cover became too thin, and then the deer decided to return home.

The hungry wolf opened the package and salivated. There were gingerbread, cakes, rolls, berries and fruits. The wolf began to eat sweets. "Ugh, how disgusting!" the wolf spat. He realized that all these "sweets" were made of plasticine and threw the parcel away.

The storm calmed down in the morning. The sun has risen. Snow and ice shone dazzlingly in its rays. A friendly family of penguins noticed the package, and they took it to the deer. The deer rushed the parcel to Santa Claus in a whirlwind. Old Grandfather was very happy with the parcel. He carefully examined the children's crafts, rejoiced at their imagination. Santa Claus walked along the ice corridors of the palace for a long time and was surprised: “Can children really make patterns better than me? I build ice palaces, draw ice patterns, and they mold outlandish crafts from plasticine. I will definitely send them the best plasticine in the peace they ask for in the letter."

He walked around his domain. What is there just not here: toys, sweets, Snickers. Kinder Surprises, Lego constructors, but there was no plasticine. Then Santa Claus opened his magic book and found a recipe for making plasticine, compiled by the most skilled craftsmen, and set to work. When the gift was ready, Santa Claus sent it to the guys in Siberia. The children received a New Year's gift and were very happy.
