It is not so difficult to make a portfolio for a student with your own hands, you will need imagination and a desire to create, as well as the cooperation of the child with his parents.

The structure of any portfolio includes a title page, sections and appendices. You can buy pre-made forms at a bookstore and fill them out by hand. Alternatively, design your own in Photoshop, CorelDraw, or Word.

Over time, the child's portfolio needs to be replenished with new demonstrations of success and achievement.

Tips for Building an Elementary Student Portfolio

Do not include in your student's portfolio children's photos of the child, where he is in a stroller, with a pacifier, and the like. It is clear that they are dear to you, but remember that this portfolio, although a small schoolboy, is already an adult. Leave absolutely children's photos for the home archive.

Let your child do some simple operations, put down asterisks, leaves, chickens, change the background on the portfolio pages, all that you can show him, and he is able to do.

When writing text for photographs, ask your child what to write. A first grader can formulate what he would like to see in his portfolio. At the same time, the portfolio will still look not like the work of an adult, but the work of a child.

Be sure to add My Goals, My Dreams section to your portfolio, or combine My Goals and Dreams for example. Let's get acquainted: in this section of the portfolio, you must place a close-up photo of the child, preferably in a business suit, write his last name and first name, birthday, place of residence, history of his name (optional).

Preparation for school- my kindergarten: in this section of the student's portfolio, it is worth remembering the teachers of the kindergarten where your child received preschool education. Of course, they have made a significant contribution to your children. The feeling of gratitude must be instilled from childhood.

My first class: All parents have photos of first graders on their first line, first bell. In this portfolio section, you can place a photo of this event and, of course, photos of the first teacher. Therefore, do not miss the moment - a portfolio can become your common cause.

Our class activities: This section should be lined, as well as the next two. Here you can write down what activities your child participated in in your class, and what results he achieved with the class: collection of waste paper, various sports events, theatrical performances - the school is full of such events in abundance.

It is necessary to start compiling a portfolio already from the first grade, of course, the child himself at this age simply cannot cope with such a task, so the main work goes to the parents. But even they cannot always imagine how to properly draw up this document.

What does a student's portfolio look like?

Various documents, photographs, works that reflect everything that a person knows and can do - all this together is a portfolio. The child's portfolio includes all the information about him, about his grades and performance at school.

If a student takes part in any sports competitions, is engaged in circles, is active in extracurricular activities, has interesting hobbies, this is also recorded in the documents.

The portfolio is created so that the student gradually begins to comprehend and realize his achievements, successes, awards, as a result of this, the child has an incentive to develop his abilities and abilities.

And if for some reason he moves to another school, the documents will tell new teachers and classmates about him. And when entering the institute, the portfolio of talented schoolchildren can play a significant role.

A student's portfolio can be of three types:

1. Portfolio of documents. It includes diplomas, awards, certificates and other materials that document the achievements of the child.
2. Portfolio of works. It contains various creative and educational works, research projects, etc.

How to make a student portfolio?

If approached with a creative approach and imagination, designing a portfolio will not be difficult, the main thing is that both the child and the parents equally take part in this interesting business.

Any portfolio is drawn up according to the scheme: title page, various sections, applications. All sheets can be made by yourself on a computer in graphic or text programs and printed, or you can purchase sheets and ready-made forms in a store.

The title page must contain a photograph of the child, his name and surname, age, as well as class and school numbers.

The section "My portrait" ("My world") is filled in as follows. It indicates the biography of the child, information about his parents, friends. You can also write here the child's hobbies, a short story about his hometown and school, etc. It is best to do this in the form of small notes (essays) and back up with photographs.

The section "My studies" indicates the grades and progress of the student. Also here you can put information about your favorite subjects and teachers, add examples of your performance (essays, tests, etc.).

The “My Achievements” section will tell you about all kinds of certificates, medals, awards, diplomas. You can attach real documents, or you can make copies of them. Also in this section, you can write short stories about participation in events (sports, intellectual, competitions, olympiads) indicating the date of the event and the award received. Portfolio Creationis an exciting joint painstaking work of children and their parents. The creation of it should be taken carefully and seriously - after all, this is the face of your child. To get started, purchase the most beautiful folder in the stationery store, with a large number of empty files (at least 90 sheets), let the child choose it himself. The folder is bought for many years, it must be durable. You will need felt-tip pens, pencils, glue, a ruler and several sheets with various stickers (stars, flowers, cars, etc.).

Portfolio should consist of two sections, which in turn are divided into several subsections.

First section - introductory, in which the child talks about himself.

First page of the section- this is a beautifully designed title page with a photo of the student, as well as information about the educational institution where he studies.

All kinds of postcards and congratulations presented to the first grader by the beginning of the school year are included in the 2nd file.

On sheet 3 (subsection “My name”), the child gives a transcript of his name (origin, meaning), who and why exactly called him that.

On sheet 4 (subsection "My family") - writes a short essay about his family, if there are photographs, then attaches them.

On the 5th sheet (subsection "This is me") draws his portrait.
