For English classes with kids in kindergarten (see, for example, ) you will need a loto with the image of various animals, namely: squirrel, deer, bird, wolf, fox, owl, hedgehog, bear, hare, raccoon, cow, horse, pig, sheep, goat, rooster, chicken, chicken, duck, cat, dog, guinea pig (or rat), parrot, fish. In subsequent lessons, the loto can be “expanded” by adding new cards as you progress through a particular topic (“Family”, “Home”, “Toys”, etc.).

Cards designed for English lessons are larger than in regular lotto. Depending on the age of the children and the amount of vocabulary they learn, you can decide for yourself what the optimal number of pictures should be on each card (from 4 or more). You can arrange the pictures in one row (I used just such cards in my lessons) or in two rows. Too many pictures on the card, in my opinion, it is inappropriate to do so as not to drag out the game too much. You can always give the children, for example, two cards in a row.

So, buy a set of cardboard (white or colored - at your discretion). Each card will be equal in size to a sheet of A4 cardboard cut lengthwise (you can, of course, make them larger or smaller, but, in my opinion, this one is optimal). Now we need the same pictures of animals, the names of which you passed with the children. Where can you find such pictures? Once upon a time, I sat and drew them myself, or cut out the silhouettes of animals from colored paper and pasted them on cards, spending a lot of time on it. Basically, you can use this method. Another way is to use Internet sites that offer children's coloring pages or just pictures. We type in a search engine, for example, “guinea pig, coloring” or"hedgehog, picture (drawing)» , find the image, reduce it to the desired size. If you have a color printer, great, if not, you can just print the coloring and then color the picture manually. Count how many pictures you will need. For example, if there are 4 pictures on each card, you are going to make 10 cards, so you will need 40 pictures in total. Pictures are carefully cut out and pasted onto cardboard.

Keep the following points in mind when posting pictures:

  • the number of pictures depicting the same animal can be any, you can make, for example, 3 dogs, 5 cats, 6 guinea pigs, so long as the total number of pictures is 4 times more than the cards (in our case, there should be 40 ).
  • images of animals should not be repeated on one card
  • it is desirable that there are no absolutely identical cards

After you have prepared large cards and glued pictures of animals on them (separating them with a line), make 40 more small cards from colored cardboard so that each one can completely cover the image of one animal. (Children will cover the pictures on large cards with small cards when they hear the name of the animal and find its image on their large card).

You will also need separate pictures of the same animals that are shown on the large lotto cards (one picture of each animal). Children will draw these pictures from a special bag. They can be replaced partially or completely with toys.

Everything counted, cut, glued? Lotto for an English lesson in kindergarten is ready! During the English class, give each child one (or two) large and four (or eight) small cards. The educator (or the children themselves in turn)) pull out pictures of animals, people, objects (or similar toys) from the bag. The facilitator loudly calls in English the object shown in the picture, the children close the pictures with the image of the desired object, the person of the animal, if they have them on a large card, with small cards. For more information on the use of loto in English lessons, see .

I note that such a lotto can be useful for parents to independently study English words at home with a child. Why only English? Lotto can also be used to expand the child's vocabulary in their native language. If ayou know other interesting games suitable for learning English with toddlers, we will be happy and pleasantly surprised if you are talking about them. Good luck to you!

Methodological rationale for the use of the game in the lesson

The game, along with work and learning, is the main form of human activity. By definition, a gameit's a type of meaningful unproductive activity, where the motive lies not in its result, but in the process itself.

Speaking about the use of the game in the classroom, first of all, we must say that the motive, and in this case motivation, is an integral part, the engine in the successful mastering of a particular subject by a student.

Currently, a large amount of information is superimposed on schoolchildren, which leads to mental overload and physical fatigue. So, over time, the child may lose the desire and motivation to study a particular subject. The impetus for increasing motivation in a child can be the use of the game in the lesson.

The use of the game in the lesson is undoubtedly an additional bonus in the lesson, which has a number of positive factors, namely, the game:

    Helps psycho-emotional and physical unloading of the child;

    Increases the child's motivation to study the subject;

    Allows you to reveal the talents of the child;

    Contributes to the rapid memorization of new information and its consolidation;

    Gives the child the opportunity to make the necessary decisions independently;

    Helps to "merge" with other activities, enriching them;

    Allows you to show the "personality" of the child;

    Promotes the development of imagination, figurative thinking;

    Contributes to the solution of life problems that have arisen in knowledge, work and creativity;

    Helps the child learn to trust himself and people, to recognize what should be accepted and what should be discarded, because. filter the received information;

    Helps to get closer to the team and make friends with new people.

Summarizing all of the above, we can note the fact that the game only contributes to the successful study of the subject and is not just recommended, but necessary for use in the classroom, because. the result of mastering the desired topic or the necessary information will not keep you waiting.

Game description

    Name of the game: English lotto on the example of the phrasal verb "togo».

    Age of participants: 14 years

    Number of participants: 10-12 people

    Expected results : students are expected to learn how to correctly select and apply the phrasal verb "togo”, as well as to recognize its grammatical form and lexical meaning in a sentence.

    Method and form of the game : the intellectual and situational game "English loto" is played in the classical way, i.e. like the usual lotto game, only special cards are used instead of kegs. Students are given blank sheets of paper on which they draw a two-story house in which they place 3 windows on the top floor and 4 windows on the bottom floor, i.e. only 7 windows, because fix 7 phrasal verbs. Students must number the boxes and sign them, for example, 1 box - “godownwith”, 2nd window -“ gowithout" etc. (you can sign on the house "goand then sign only a pretext).

The teacher has a series of sentences in which one or another phrasal verb must be inserted. The sentences are read out by the teacher and if the child knows which phrasal verb to insert, he raises his hand and calls the number of the box with this verb, for example "1". If this answer is correct, then the teacher gives the card to the child and the child closes the appropriate window. As a result, the children must close all the windows in the house. It is important that the students do not shout out from their seats, but rather raise their hands so that the rest can listen carefully to the teacher and focus on the game.

    The level of complexity of intellectual activity : average level

    Game duration : 20-25 minutes (including 5 minutes for preparation for the game)

    The degree of complexity of the actions performed : complex (polysituational) game.

conclusions

The goal of the English Lotto game has been achieved. By the end of the game, students are easily oriented in phrasal verbs, namely: they remember and consolidate their forms and meanings., and also easily isolate them in a sentence.

Reflection

The game "English loto" was played several times, and the children love this game very much, despite the average level of difficulty. Accordingly, characterizing the game as a medium difficulty, it is likely to expect some difficulties that schoolchildren may encounter. It is also necessary to be aware of the fact that the game "English Lotto" cannot be played in every lesson, because it requires careful preparation on the part of the subject teacher, as well as a basic knowledge of the material with which the students will work. Those. schoolchildren should study this material carefully in order to be well versed in phrasal verbs in different sentences, as well as to be able to isolate them.

As recommendations, you can consider more simplified material, for example "differentwaysofcookingfood"and then consider such adjectives as"scrambled, mixed, grated" etc. and match them with pictures that show products cooked in different ways. Images are always easier to work with and children thus remember words even better. In fact, you can consider different options for the game and adapt it to different levels of classes, it all depends on the skill of the subject teacher.
