Plug in mouth for clear speech. School of Imbuilding and Body Practices in Novosibirsk

One event prompted me to write this short article.

I needed to record certain phrases on a dictaphone so that I could listen to myself later. I wrote down the text, began to listen to it, and realized that I like the way my voice sounds (and for this, of course, thanks to the Natural Voice School :)), but I don’t really like my diction.

And I decided to do one very simple exercise that allows you to literally in a few minutes significantly improve diction and, moreover, greatly increase the energy of speech!

I call him "An exercise with a pen in the teeth."

Need take a ballpoint pen or pencil in your teeth along the entire length(that is, so that the ends of the pen stick out of the mouth to the right and left) and start speaking any text(prose or poem).

At the same time, it is still necessary make the most of facial expressions and articulate. That is, specially very diligently pronounce both vowels and consonants.

This should be done for 3-4 minutes, and then remove the pen and say the same thing, but without it.

After the exercise, you will find that:

1) it became much easier to speak;
2) diction has become much better,
3) the voice began to sound fuller;
4) the energy of speech has increased several times!!
Here is a transcript of the poem before the exercise:
Here, in fact, is how a poem sounds with a pen in its teeth :)
And here is the recording after the exercise! The result ... I wanted to write "obvious", but, probably, it would be more correct to say "in the ear" :)

The bottom line here is that we first give a load to the articulatory apparatus, and force it to work in an enhanced mode. And then we remove the load, and voila!

You probably know how it happens when you carry a backpack on your back for a long time, and then take it off at a halt, and it seems that you are about to fly! :) Here the effect is very similar.

And also the active work of the articulatory muscles causes a general flow of energy to the conversational apparatus, and voice starts to sound louder and deeper!

Just do not do it for a long time, 3-4 minutes is enough, otherwise the muscles, on the contrary, will get very tired, and the effect will be the opposite!

The exercise is very simple and incredibly useful if you do it before speaking in front of people, or recording a speech on audio or video.

And the singers are great too will help to make singing more expressive, and the words of the song clear and understandable!

There are also similar exercises to improve diction with cork, or with stones in the mouth. But, firstly, you hardly always carry a cork with you, stones can be accidentally swallowed, and you usually always have a pen with you, you can wipe it with a damp cloth and use it :)

Besides, it is the exercise with the pen that works out the clamps of the lips very well, which almost all of us have, and they really interfere with good diction.

BUT good diction is a guarantee that others perceive you as a self-confident person!

These exercises, with regular training, will help to keep the lower part of the face in great shape for a long time (a clear contour, the absence of a double chin, plump lips), and will also significantly improve the quality of the blowjob.

1. Mona Lisa exercise (with wine cork).

Pick up a cork from a wine that is suitable for your mouth, about 3 cm high. Hold the cork in height between your teeth and close your lips in front of it. First, do it in front of a mirror, making sure that your lips do not crinkle. To do this, you can slightly stretch your lips in a Mona Lisa smile, again making sure that the nasolabial folds are not aggravated. 60 times in a row.

2. Spaghetti exercise (with an empty plastic bottle).

You will need an empty bottle of 0.5 l and a cotton cord about 1 m long. Tie one end of the cord to the neck of the bottle and put it on the floor. The second end is placed in the mouth. Working only with your lips, as if you are sucking spaghetti into your mouth, we try to tear the bottle off the floor, raising it at least 10-15 cm. You can help with your tongue, pressing the cord in your mouth to your teeth, gums, winding the cord around your tongue. Teeth are not involved in the exercise! 5-10 lifts in a row. Lips will be irresistible!

3. Exercise Cloud (with a bottle filled with water).

Fill the same bottle with water. First, try pouring half. Grasp the neck of the bottle with your lips and hold it, not helping with either vacuum or teeth. It is better to do it over a sink or bathtub so that the cloud does not burst into torrential streams on the floor. Pick up such a volume of water in the bottle so that the first hold lasts 20-25 seconds. 5-10 holds in a row. Add a small amount of water every day. Learn how to hold a 1.5 L, get a black belt in blowjob.

4. Exercise Tao.

The teeth are open, the lips are closed. We circle the tongue along the inner surface of the lips: 72 times in one direction, then the same number in the other direction. There is no need to hurry - try to do the exercise with high quality, so that the lower jaw does not move simultaneously with the tongue. Only after the exercise is completed, you can swallow saliva. If at first 72 times will be difficult, start with 36. In the future, the exercise can be done lying down.

5. Exercise Long tongue.

We pull the tongue for 5 seconds, as far as possible, in different directions in this order: forward-removed, up-removed, forward-removed, down-removed, to the left (while looking to the right) -removed, forward-removed, to the right (with we look to the left) - removed, forward - removed. 5 cycles in a row.

6. Exercise Scoop.

Put the relaxed tongue on the lower lip. With a tense lower lip, wrap the tongue, folding it in half. In the future, learn to fold the tongue without the help of the lower lip. 60 times in a row.

7. Exercise Rotate the tongue.

Rotate the tongue in the mouth, trying to turn up its lower part. To do this, rest the edge of the tongue against the nearest row of teeth and wrap it in the same direction. Then we repeat the same thing, turning the tongue in the other direction. First, we study in front of a mirror with an open mouth. In the future, we do with a closed mouth. 60 times in a row.

By nature, only a few have a clear, correct pronunciation. In childhood, almost every second child faces the problem of speech, but it is much easier to solve it. An adult who thinks about how to improve diction is faced with his own habit of speaking incorrectly. This complicates the work on oneself, and correcting speech takes more time.

Gives you 5 steps to improve your speech quality. If you decide to work on your speech, you should fight the desire to postpone it for later: only frequent classes will give results.

Step 1: train the organs of articulation

These exercises were developed by speech therapists and are aimed at correcting children's pronunciation deficiencies. But for adults, they work just as well.

The organs of articulation include lips, teeth, jaws, palate, alveoli, and tongue. Repetition of exercises: for children - 5 times, for adults - 25-30 times.

  • we open our mouth as wide as possible, straining the muscles of the face and neck, hold it and close it at the expense of “5”;

  • fold closed lips into a tube, pull forward, hold for 5-10 seconds;

  • game of "snake": quickly show and hide the tongue, smiling;

  • show the tongue, “drag” it through closed teeth back and forth, massaging it;

  • alternately inflate your cheeks and tap on them with your fingertips, massaging;

  • “explore” the mouth with the tongue: drive the tip along the palate, cheeks, teeth;

  • swing: open your mouth wide, smiling, at the expense of "one" - lower your tongue to the lower jaw, "two" - raise it to the upper teeth;

  • hold the protruding tongue on the lower jaw motionless and relaxed for at least 5-10 seconds.

For an adult, this training is not as difficult as for a child. If the baby is tired and does not want to perform the required number of repetitions, you can continue after a couple of hours. You can’t force him to study: this will only aggravate the situation, and the child will simply close from you.

Step 2: advanced articulation training

All classes are done at home and are suitable for adults and children. If the child already knows how to read or recite poetry, you can adapt all the activities for him.

Reading aloud to increase the clarity of speech is great, but for better practice of sounds, it is recommended to use a regular cork. We bite it with our teeth (not much, just hold it) and read the book aloud, sing your favorite song, repeat after the audiobook announcer. The lips should be tight. It is enough to practice 10-20 minutes a day.

We read a poem or a book aloud, trying to clearly pronounce all the sounds and perform physical exercises. Running, squats, leg and arm swings will do. It is important that the breath begins to go astray. Then it will become harder to pronounce familiar words, additional efforts will be required. You can't imagine better gymnastics.

This exercise is for adults only, as children should not be allowed to lick small objects. We need simple, smooth, clean pebbles. These can be bought or found in the river and boiled.

We put a few stones in our mouths to make it difficult to speak, and we begin to read, talk to ourselves. Such an activity perfectly trains the clarity of pronunciation.

Pronunciation of strange nonsense gives an excellent result. “BDTTTRZ, VVGGRRRRKHS, MRTSTSEPN” - it is important to pronounce the middle of these words well, not to swallow the ending.

This exercise allows you to quickly improve diction. For a child, you can, among other things, be advised to put clean mother's beads on a clean thread around the neck, take the lower end of them in your mouth and sort through the beads with your tongue, first in one direction, then in the other. Many parents make special beads for this exercise, stringing beads of different textures and sizes.

If a child speaks very poorly for his age, do not rush to take him to a neurologist. Visit a dentist for an examination of the mouth, measurement of the frenulum under the tongue and lips.

Step 3: speech therapy massage

Massage will increase blood flow in the organs of speech, improve diction and clarity of speech. Working through every centimeter of the tongue, we increase blood flow, make even the weakest parts of the muscle work. Massage can be done by adults, the main thing is to know how to do it right.

  • for young children, it is important to carry out massage with communication, an interesting fairy tale, in order to prevent the appearance of rejection;

  • maintain a smooth transition from massaging the face and neck to working with the tongue;

  • the movements are soft, gentle: alternately stroking, then knocking with your fingertips to get a vibration;

  • you can use a spoon, a toothbrush to massage the tongue;

  • with our thumbs we make circular movements on both sides of the tongue, draw figure eights;

  • a handkerchief or napkin is placed under the tongue to avoid dripping saliva.

Step 4: tongue twisters

A lot has been written about speech exercises with the help of tongue twisters. It is a pity that many stubbornly ignore this simple training of the speech apparatus. Even a few repetitions a day will help in improving articulation. By adding an exercise with pebbles in the mouth or a cork, you can double the effect of the tongue twister.

The main rule for choosing text for a lesson is an emphasis on sounds with which the child has problems. To improve classes, you can come up with your own tongue twisters.

Step 5: watch your breath

To find out how things are going with the improvement of speech, it will be very useful to record the story on video or audio. Sometimes it seems to us that we speak clearly, but others do not think so. To correct speech errors, it is important to learn how to breathe fully. It happens that words and letters are confused, because a person is used to speaking by swallowing half of the words. Train yourself to maintain even breathing while speaking.

How quickly we speak depends on the understanding of our speech by others. With children, this problem is solved by the example of adults. If everyone in the family speaks correctly, measuredly, then the child will have the right example before his eyes.

Do not neglect the opportunity to improve your speech and the speech of children. The ability to express your thoughts clearly, clearly, and in an accessible way will come in handy in all life situations!

Voice can convince listeners, gain trust or alienate. This is especially important in telephone conferences and telephone conversations, when the voice is your only tool.

The great ancient Greek orator Demosthenes had a weak voice, fuzzy diction, burr and lisp. He made speeches by rolling pebbles in his mouth and achieved great success. Today, there is a safer way to improve diction - to speak with a cork in your teeth. This is the best exercise for diction, it is practiced by everyone who works on TV. In acting schools, the cork is even tied to a string and hung around the neck to practice at any time.

The wine cork should be clamped between the front teeth (2-3 mm beyond the line of the teeth), the mouth should be ajar, the teeth should be exposed. In this position, speak and read loudly for 5 to 10 minutes several times a day. The exercise develops the articulation apparatus and vocal cords (they bear part of the load, when the articulation apparatus cannot cope, they have to compensate for the fact that "the lips cannot").

Running with headphones in your ears is effective, repeating everything that he says after the speaker. When running, you are out of breath, this will create additional difficulties for the speech and respiratory apparatus. At the end of the workout, you will be able to enjoy clear diction, which will turn out by itself.

If you suffer from stuttering, take note of the proven method: rewrite several pages of book text every day. While writing, a person pronounces the text in his thoughts, and mentally it is impossible to stutter. Gradually, you will begin to speak out loud without hesitation.

Tongue twisters - not very pleasant, but perfectly improves diction. The results are already audible on the 3rd day and they remain for a long time if you continue to develop diction. An important condition: you need to speak them loudly.

There are two types of tongue twisters:
- for the brain - it is easy to pronounce, but the words are confused (Clara stole corals from Karl
- for the language - if it is difficult for you to speak hissing words (Varvara, who became emotional, felt the unsympathetic Vavila).
Do not try to pronounce the tongue twister immediately quickly. First, master it at a slow pace, read syllable by syllable, then switch to an average pace, and only then pronounce the tongue twister with acceleration.

Try pronouncing the tongue twister with different intonations (surprised, indignant, interrogative, etc.) or hum it to the tune of the song.

Connect movement to the tongue twister: squat, jump, dance.

In addition to tongue twisters, write down and work out phrases and words that you are often asked again - in these words there is a combination of letters that is not good for you, you need to bring it to clarity.

Sleep in glasses for sleep - they help to relax all the muscles of the face, including the lips and jaw. This improves diction.

Development of the articulatory apparatus

Your audience cares about the sound of your voice and the clarity of your words. Voice training is easy if you do articulation exercises. It develops the tongue, lips, cheeks, palate, lower jaw and helps make your speech clear and easy to hear.

The development of the articulatory apparatus is facilitated by reading aloud, it helps to correctly place accents, make the necessary stresses and intonations.

For the pure formation of sounds, develop the tongue: “clean” the gums with the tongue, make “pricks” with the tongue on the cheeks, move along the palate, stretch the tongue, click it.

Warm-up for the jaw: take yourself with both hands on the lower jaw and open it several times, effortlessly, not abruptly, only with the help of your hands - this exercise helps to relieve tension from the submandibular muscles.

Warm-up for the cheeks: inflate the cheeks, “roll” the air inside the mouth, then release the tension by making a “whoa”.

To make speech clear and easy, develop your lips: stretch your lips with a “tube” and rotate in a circle in both directions, say “ooty - ooty”, stretch with a tube and grab the air with them, slap with relaxed lips “five-five-five” and collect them on "p-b-p-b", pull your lips over your teeth.

Say "ma", "mama" to yourself, and also "ha" on the half of the exhalation. At the same time, the palate should be raised, the position of the mouth as with the sound “O” - these exercises make the sound deeper and louder.

Setting up the speaker's voice

You need to train your voice regularly - this is the main tool in public speaking, which must be used with benefit.

Voice training includes exercises that need to be practiced every day, standing in front of a mirror.

For training lower diaphragmatic breathing (“belly”). Stand straight, feet shoulder-width apart, relax your shoulders and head. Wrap your arms around your shoulders, squeezing your chest, press your fingers tightly against your shoulder blades. Breathe in the belly, inhaling through the nose, exhaling through the mouth, the fingers should not move, the shoulders should not rise and the elbows should not move.

Stand straight, straighten your arms in front of your chest, turn your palms towards each other. Inhale deeply through the nose and sharply spread the arms to the sides, then slowly bring the arms together and exhale through the mouth with the sound “zzzzzz”. When the palms touch each other, let go of the breath.

To “warm up” the voice, you need to stand straight, relax, breathe with your stomach. Fold your palms like a mouthpiece, "show" your throat to the doctor, lower your larynx, inhale and say "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaars". Do it several times, increasing the volume, but without straining.

If the voice sounds tense and needs to be relaxed, open your mouth, relax your facial muscles, inhale and exhale, shake your jaw up and down 4-5 times. You can also make a creak, similar to the sound of an opening door, while the jaw is lowered, and the teeth should not be closed.

Use a tongue twister - say "lri-lre-lra-lro-lru-lry", at first slowly then speed up. It is important to articulate well, pronounce with different intonation, like a question and an answer. Then relax the muscles of the mouth - say “Truu” as you exhale.

To make the sound free and concentrated, you need to catch the low position of the larynx. To do this, you need to lower your jaw to your chest, open your mouth wide, lower the root of your tongue down, as if you are showing your throat to a doctor, lower tension and yawn 2-3 times.

How to improve diction? This problem is very relevant today for many people. After all, a person who is naturally capable of talking beautifully is a rarity. That is why for centuries oratory was considered the highest art, which, it was believed, could only be mastered by the elite. Fortunately, today it is quite easy to eliminate various speech defects. Special exercises can help with this.

However, in order to solve the problem as efficiently as possible, you first need to understand its very essence. Diction is the pronunciation of syllables and letters by the speech organs of a person. Diction is considered good if it is clear and smooth, if the words are pronounced clearly and at the same time loudly enough.
Among the main causes of problems with diction are weak jaw mobility and the inability to open the mouth normally. As a result, a person’s speech begins to sound muffled, crumpled and unintelligible. Pay attention to how you speak. Do you manage to pronounce syllables and letters correctly every time, and does your speech always sound loud and clear? If you find yourself having any problems - take care of yourself immediately!

How to improve diction with training?

Exercises to improve diction were invented many years ago. Even the Roman orator Cicero always put 3-4 small round stones in his mouth before speaking in public and read fragments of texts. By the way, this method is still used today by many speech therapists, although today stones are usually replaced with wine corks or walnuts.
In addition, there are also a number of modern exercises that can improve diction:

  1. Open your mouth and start moving your lower jaw left and right. Try to keep your head as still as possible. After 2-3 minutes, try moving your jaw back and forth. Continue doing the exercise for another 2 minutes.
  2. Smile as wide as you can. Circle the top and bottom teeth with your tongue. Count each one in this way, while twisting the jaw is not recommended.
  3. Smile again. After that, draw the edge of the tongue along the inner surface of the upper lip. Repeat for the bottom lip. In conclusion, “slip” the tongue along the border of the lips in a circle. Try to maintain maximum immobility of the jaw.
  4. Smile while showing your teeth. Then move your tongue from one side of your mouth to the other. Try not to move your facial muscles, keep your tongue between your upper and lower lip and not touch your lower jaw.
  5. Now stand on your feet and place your hands on your chest. Gradually tilt your torso forward and pronounce the sound "O" and "U". Gradually try to make the voice lower and lower.

Basic rules for improving the quality of spoken language

By following these simple rules, after a few weeks you will be able to improve your diction and speech. In order to achieve maximum results in the shortest possible time, try to do the exercises daily for at least 15 minutes. At the same time, keep in mind that until noon the muscles of the face still continue to “sleep”. By working on yourself, you can also become a great speaker.
