The hunt began wow 3.3 5. When the hunt began (3 p.)

I spent most of the morning preparing for the hunt. Gathered, I went to the bookstore. Until the other members of the pack arrive besides Rin, I'll just be another customer. Less than an hour later, wolves entered the store, the same ones we encountered near the cafe. Step out of the shadow of one of the shelves, the werewolves still do not pay attention to me. Ready to get a weapon already, but the hunter's inner instinct keeps saying that these are not the ones who should be hunted. My instinct has never let me down, but this time I'm throwing it away. I drop four balls on the floor and take out two pistols with silver bullets. These seemingly small balls emit signals that only werewolves can hear, and this sound deafens them, does not allow them to concentrate, which is very important to be able to handle. Others have fallen, are too young and cannot control their heightened senses, so they hear these signals louder than more experienced wolves. Alpha is not among them. I bring the gun to one of the wolves, it seems his name is Steve and ... nothing. I can't pull the trigger. The thought that they weren't the killers became even more intrusive and louder.
- Damn it, it's a flair. - I say through my teeth and lower the gun.
- We didn't kill those people, - says one of the wolves, - look at the claw marks on the tree in the park.
- Even if we wanted to leave such traces, we would have to work hard. And you know about it.” Rin continued.
And they are right. All this time, I fought off the thought that these were not who I was looking for. Not the ones who kill people. Not the ones to blame. Then who is behind the killings?
Creak. I hear a creak behind me. Someone is coming, but it's not a wolf, because the werewolves, having sniffed, frowned and tensed. Uninvited guest. Everything was quiet. Many years of hunting taught me that if the evil spirits were walking and abruptly subsided a few meters away, it means that they are preparing to jump. A sharp turn, a shot and someone in a jump, without touching the floor, falls. Coming closer, I remembered the words of the injured girl about the gray creatures. Now I understand who they were. Wendigo. Once they were people, but then for some reason they began to eat people and eventually lost their human appearance, turning into gray tall and very voracious creatures. They cannot be killed with bullets, only decapitation or fire will help here, just burn them. Vendino lay motionless on the floor, for now. Yes, things have taken a new turn. I turn off the balls, and the wolves immediately sighed with relief.
- Well, wolves, does anyone have a lighter? - I ask the werewolves, because I don’t smoke myself and didn’t think that fire would be needed.
- Why?
- You need to burn him, otherwise he will wake up, because a bullet is not a problem for him.
No one answered, but Steve walked up to the wendigo and touched him with his hand. At the same moment, the wendigo was engulfed in fire and after a few seconds only ashes remained from it. That means what feature this werewolf has. Mastery of fire.
- What is this creature? - asked one of the wolves.
- Wendigo.
Why didn't you shoot us right away? - and here is this already asked Rin.
- I do not know. Intuition did not allow.
"Well, since we're all on the same side, then let's join forces against these... um... wendigo."
An interesting proposal, but should they be trusted, suddenly a trap and they are at the same time with the wendigo. No, most likely not. Well worth a try.
- Good. I agree.
- Then let's go to the pack, you will tell everyone about the wendigo and how to deal with them.
And we went. That's how I ended up in an alliance with the wolves.

Someone raided the stud farm in Neuhof and Pan Radzig sent me there with a detachment of his warriors to find out what happened.

Walkthrough

In the mission "The Hunt Begins" you need to investigate the raid on the stud farm in Neuhof. Investigate the footprints in place, interview people who may have witnessed the attack, and track down the bandits who have fled into the nearby woods.

You start the quest in the castle courtyard in Rattay. Speak to Centurion Bernard and tell him you're ready to go. Take your horse (you may have to talk to Bernard twice). Ride out with the Neuhof soldiers. If you delay too long, you will not complete the first part of the mission, because other characters will go to Neuhof without a hero. In such a situation, you need to get there alone in order to continue the quest.

You must start an investigation. Most of the village should be explored, but start from where the other guards are. Examine Smyl's body and the dead horses. Talk to Zora and Yakub (possibility to use unique dialogue options). Ask both of these characters all possible questions.

Keep exploring the area. Along the way, you will encounter other corpses and pools of blood, which will lead Henry to the partially burned out main stable building. Talk to Mark to learn about the bandits. Also interrogate Red in this area.

Head northwest from the main stable building. Examine the broken gate shown above. Henry is convinced that the bandits should be looked for in the forest north of the village.

Continue heading northwest (you'll find more blood trails). After the game narrows down the search area, enter the forest and start sneaking around. You must find two bandits.

You can wait for one of the thugs to kill his comrade. It will be easier for you to deal with one opponent. Search the corpses and take the "Bloody Hook".

With the "bloody hook" return to Neuhof. You must determine who is the owner. Ask Mark, for example. You will learn that this thing belonged to Ginger and that he escaped from the village. Go to Yakub and ask him where to look for Red. The search continues in the next task "". Before we go any further, it is worth reporting on the investigation to the centurion Bernard.

Now Riley's eyes stung too. April had already asked the same question countless times. Riley couldn't even try to imagine an answer, let alone voice it.

Riley's phone rang. She saw that it was Mike Nevins, a forensic psychiatrist and a good friend of hers, calling. He had helped Riley through more than one personal crisis, and he was happy to help this time as well.

“Just wanted to know if you're all right,” Mike said. I hope I didn't call at the wrong time.

“Not at all, Mike. Thank you for calling.

- How is she?

- Seems to be better.

Riley didn't know what she would do without Mike's help. After she pulled April out of Joel's house, there was a flurry of ambulances, medical treatment, police reports. Last night, Mike arranged for April to be admitted to the Corcoran Health and Rehabilitation Center.

It was much better here than in the hospital, even stuffed with medical equipment, the ward looked nice and cozy. Through the window, Riley could see the trees on the perfectly manicured lawn.

At that moment, doctor April entered the room and they ended their conversation. Dr. Ellis Spears was a good-natured man with a young face but gray hair that betrayed age.

He touched April's head and asked:

- How do you feel?

“Not much,” she replied.

“Well, everything takes time,” he said. - You'll get better. Miss Page, may I speak to you alone?

Riley nodded and followed him out into the corridor. Dr. Spears looked at his papers.

“The heroin is practically out of her bloodstream,” he said. That boy gave her a dangerous dose. Fortunately, she quickly recovers. Most likely, she will not have a physical breakdown. Now she is tormented by emotional rather than physical problems.

“Will she…?” Riley couldn't finish the question.

Fortunately, the doctor understood what she wanted to say.

- Relapse or addiction? It's hard to say. For the first time, heroin can seem miraculous—like nothing else in the world. She has not sat down yet, but the feeling is unlikely to be forgotten. There will always be a risk that she will seek those emotions again.

Riley gasped. From now on, it will be vital that April not be given the slightest chance to use drugs. The prospect is terrible. April was no longer allowed to smoke weed and take some pills - even painkillers, very dangerous opioids.

Spears, I...

Riley struggled to formulate her question.

“I don't understand what happened,” she said. Why did she do that?

The Doctor smiled sympathetically at her. Riley thought he heard that question very often.

“Escape,” he said. “But not a complete escape from life. She's not like that. In fact, I don't think she's an addict at all by nature. Like all teenagers, she lacks control over her emotions - but this is only because the brain is not yet fully formed. She liked this short-term euphoria. Fortunately, the dose was too small to cause irreparable harm to her.

Dr. Spears was silent for a moment.

“Her experience was unusually painful,” he said. “I'm talking about how that boy wanted to sexually exploit her. One such memory may be enough to make her never want to go back to drugs again. But emotional stress can also be dangerous.

Riley lost heart. Emotional stress lately seemed to be an integral part of their family life.

“We'll keep an eye on her for a few days,” Dr. Spears said, “after which she'll need care, rest, and help with introspection.

The doctor excused himself and returned to his rounds, while Riley remained standing in the hallway, feeling alone and exhausted.

Isn't that what happened to Jilly? she thought. Will April end up like this desperate girl?

Two months ago in Phoenix, Arizona, Riley rescued a girl even younger than April from prostitution. A strange emotional connection formed between them, and Riley tried to keep in touch with her, placing her in a teenage shelter. But a couple of days ago, Riley was informed that Jilly had fled. Riley could not return to Phoenix, but asked for help from a local FBI agent. She knew that he felt indebted to her, and expected news from him today.

In the meantime, Riley is where she should be, with April.

She went to her daughter's room when she heard someone call out to her in the hallway. She turned to see the worried face of her ex-husband, Ryan, walking towards her. When she called him yesterday to tell him what had happened, he was working on a case in Minneapolis.

Riley was surprised to see him. The daughter was not at the top of Ryan's priority list - she was below his work as a lawyer and far below the bachelor freedom that he enjoyed. She doubted he would show up at all.

And now he ran up to Riley, hugged her, and his face was written with concern.

- How is she? How is she?

Ryan kept repeating his question so that Riley couldn't even answer.

"She'll be fine," she finally managed to say.

Ryan released Riley from his embrace and looked at her with an anguished expression.

“I'm sorry,” he said. - I am so sorry. You told me April was in trouble, but I didn't listen to you. I should have been with you.

Riley didn't know what to say. Apologies were not Ryan's style. She rather expected that he would throw out a mountain of accusations at her for what happened - this is how he usually reacted to family crises. Obviously, what happened to April was so terrible that it hurt even him. Apparently, he had already talked to the doctors and was aware of everything.

He nodded towards the door.

– May I see her? - he asked.

“Of course,” Riley replied.

Standing in the doorway, Riley watched as Ryan ran to April's bed, wrapped his arms around her, and held her tight for a few moments. Riley thought his back shook with a sob. He then sat on the bed next to April and took her hand.

April was crying again.

“Oh, dad, I messed up,” she said. You see, I dated this guy...

Ryan touched her lips to silence her.

- Shsh. You don't need to tell me anything. Everything is fine.

Riley felt a lump in her throat. She suddenly felt for the first time in a long time that the three of them were family. Is it good or bad? A sign that everything will be fixed or preparation for another disappointment and trouble? She didn't know the answer.

Riley watched from the door as Ryan gently stroked her daughter's hair while April closed her eyes and relaxed. A touching spectacle.

"When did it all go wrong?" she thought.

She realized that she wished she could go back to that critical moment when she had made a terrible mistake and make things right, make sure that didn't happen. She was sure Ryan was thinking the same thing.

She knew the thought was ironic. The maniac she'd taken a couple of days ago was a time freak, laying out the bodies of his victims like they were clock hands. And now she wants to turn back time herself.

If only I could keep her safe from Peterson, she thought with a shudder.

Like Riley, the sadistic monster caged April and threatened her with a propane torch. The poor girl still hasn't recovered from PTSD.

But Riley knew the problem ran much deeper.

"Maybe if Ryan and I hadn't broken up..." she mused.

But how could they avoid it? Ryan acted aloof and disinterested both as a husband and as a father, all he liked was to lure someone. But she didn't think he was the only one to blame. She made enough mistakes herself. She's never been able to strike a balance between working for the FBI and motherhood, and because of that, she's missed a lot of the warning signs that April is in trouble.

Her sadness intensified. No, she could not choose one moment in the past that she would like to correct - there were too many mistakes and missed opportunities in her life. In addition, she knew perfectly well that the past could not be returned. So what's the point of wanting the impossible?

Riley's phone rang and she stepped out into the corridor again. When she saw it was Garrett Holbrook, the FRR agent she had assigned to look for Gilly, her heart began to beat faster.

- Garrett! she exclaimed, taking the call. - How is it going?

- I have good news.

Riley immediately found it easier to breathe;

“The cops found her,” Garrett said. She spent the whole night on the street, without money and not knowing where to go. She was caught trying to steal something from a grocery store. Now she is next to me in the station. I'll post bail for her, but...

Garrett trailed off, Riley not liking the way his "but" sounded.

“Maybe you should talk to her.

A few seconds later, Riley heard a familiar voice.

- Hi, Riley.

Now that Riley's anxiety had subsided, she began to get angry.

- Don't "hello" me. What were you thinking when you ran away like that, huh?

"I'm not going back there," Jilly said.

- We'll see.

Please don't make me go back there.

Riley was silent. She didn't know what to say. She knew that the orphanage where Jilly lived was good, she was taken care of. Riley knew some of the local staff and they were all very nice people.
