Ways to combine study and work. How to combine work and study: personal experience Ways to combine study and work

Today it is difficult for a student to live only on a scholarship, therefore, starting from the 2nd or 3rd year, many of them are looking for work. Is this an out or nonsense? Here are some thoughts out loud on the topic: how to combine studies with a money-making job.

Why does a student need money?

Even if a “crust” is very necessary for later life and priorities were set even in the first years, one should not put up with the position of a “poor student”. It's hard to balance work and study. During this period, students are very busy, they are adapting to student life, which is fundamentally different from studying at school. There are many deductions due to poor progress, so in order to earn “authority” for yourself, you need to not shirk your studies and even not allow opportunities not to attend classes.

But sophomores, having carefully studied the schedule, can look for a permanent income. Additional work will not only allow you to pay off old debts and make it possible not to get into new ones, but will also help you feel financially independent of your parents and the state. In order not to save on food, housing, fashionable clothes, entertainment and other joys of life, you can go to "work".

The “financial problem” is especially acute for paying students. Tuition fees can suddenly skyrocket, and neither your parents nor you will be prepared for this. Here's an extra "money" and come in handy.

Study or experience

Sometimes students get a job to gain practical skills in their specialty. Ideally, if your new workplace requires the knowledge that you get at the university. But if you have been hired for a job that is completely different from the one you will be able to do after graduation, the experience gained will still come in handy. Indeed, for successful activity in any field, discipline, organization, and the ability to work in a team are needed, and, as you know, these skills are not taught at universities.

What problems can there be?

There are two ways to learn and work in parallel:

  1. agree on selective attendance of classes with each teacher individually;
  2. formalize free attendance of lectures and seminars in the dean's office.

Naturally, the world does not revolve around student problems, so not all teachers will be happy that you have found a part-time job. Of course, many will meet you halfway, welcoming your desire to gain financial independence and practical skills. Others, sincerely convinced that the student should only study, will be categorically against your employment.

Most often, teachers will not interfere with a free visiting schedule if:

  1. the knowledge and academic performance of the future “auditor” is beyond doubt;
  2. The job seeker is a senior student.

To officially combine work with the process of acquiring knowledge, you can arrange free attendance at classes. To do this, you need to very clearly and reasonably explain to the dean's office why you need a free schedule.

After that, you should discuss the current situation with each teacher. After all, no one needs problems in a test or exam, and you won’t have to wait for understanding and concessions from teachers who disagree with your decision. So, if you decide to find a job without dropping out of school, then first of all it is worth evaluating your capabilities. After all, often such a pursuit of “two birds with one stone” does not lead to anything good and you will have to say goodbye to something.

Ways to combine study and work

A student who has finally decided to receive additional income must take into account some of the nuances. To pass the session without problems, you need to find a job that:

  • provides a free work schedule;
  • has days off;
  • offers to work part-time or part-time;
  • paid on time and on time.

It is very important that your boss is loyal to the work of the student and understands his situation. In the case when the boss is a tyrant, requiring the presence of an employee at the workplace “from call to call”, it is better not to consider such an employment option.

If you're unsure if the perfect job actually exists, there are a few other options to consider:

  1. Promoter. Work without days off and holidays. Its advantages are a good income, employment for several hours a week, hourly pay. This work does not require any special mental or great physical effort, it helps to find new acquaintances and teaches communication.
  2. Courier. A very responsible job that requires good health and excellent physical fitness, although it does not require communication skills and does not take much time.
  3. . Home work gives an unlimited number of orders, provides the opportunity to adjust your work schedule to the study mode and at the same time brings a good income. The only thing is that you need internet.

These are just a few of the most common student employment options. If you wish, you can always find opportunities to combine study and work without any loss on your part.

We develop multitasking.

If you are currently in school, you probably do not have any thoughts of finding a job. Well, only if it's summer. Lessons, homework, preparation for the exam - all this really takes a lot of effort, especially in the senior class. However, when you go to university and study in the specialty that interests you, you will gradually begin to have thoughts about work.

The day will not stretch for another couple of hours, but the desire to quickly plunge into the profession and move from theory to practice will definitely appear.

Although there are different cases: many students do not work in their specialty during their student years, because at this stage money may be needed much more than experience. Everything is individual, and I don’t know which path you will follow: for experience, for money, or maybe you prefer not to work in your student years. But during my study and working time, I have collected several life hacks to combine these two difficult worlds, and I will be happy to share them with you - so that you learn from my mistakes;)

By the way, we wrote about how to work, how to behave on the first day and how to face the dirt on the first working day. Be sure to read these materials if you do not know where to start. I was not going to work and study at the same time, it seemed to me some kind of masochism. However, more and more of my classmates began to do something, settle down somewhere and disappear from class with the words “oh, I have a job, I have to run.” This, of course, bothered me, but not that much: I decided to take an internship, maybe even a few, in order to understand what I really want. One was enough for me to understand, and to the offer to work, I answered “yes” without hesitation. A few days later, in horror, I began to flip through the schedule for the new module, the terrible word “kursach” loomed ahead, but it was too late to reverse. Yes, I didn't want to.

Universes must not overlap

This is a very important point. No matter how wonderful and interesting the upcoming work is, you can’t completely score on study. I know many examples when a person was so addicted to a new activity that he stopped meeting all study deadlines and flew out after the first session. But you did it for a reason, and it would be better to finish what you started. Think about how much effort it took you to enter, or how much your parents spent on your studies (if you study on a paid basis). Enivey, how to make sure that studies do not interfere with work and vice versa?

In my opinion, the ideal option is freelancing.

I work as a freelancer: I don’t need to come to the office, I can be anywhere in the world, as long as I have a laptop, a charging outlet and coffee nearby. Okay, coffee is not necessary, just nice.

Freelance pros:

  • You can work directly in pairs.

I have a rather stupid schedule at the university: it happens that they put 2 pairs in the morning, then 2 windows, and then 2 more pairs. Classmates often complain and leave immediately after the second class, without waiting for the rest. And it’s useless for me to blame, I have to have time to do a certain number of different tasks before the evening, so I calmly spend 2 windows at work and appear at evening classes too. Comfortable? Cool, my attendance is now better than it was before work.

  • You take breaks whenever you want.

Well, these are freelancers, and student freelancers usually take breaks when teachers ask to "put away all the equipment and get out the papers." In any case, you can be distracted when it is convenient for you, most importantly, do not forget to warn your immediate supervisor that you will go away for a break. I usually use it to run from the coffee shop to the university and back :)

  • Trips.

During study time, of course, it is difficult to dump somewhere for a long time, but in the summer students have as many as 2 months of vacation. Therefore, without giving up work, you can change the situation and sit hugging your laptop somewhere on the rocks of Moher.

  • Paradise for introverts

No need to communicate with colleagues. Joining a new team, looking at employees, feeling uncomfortable in a new environment… All this can be avoided by freelancing.

Freelancing cons

(Don't be afraid that there are more of them than pluses in terms of volume, I'm just sharing life hacks in parallel).

  • Hell for extroverts.

All the same communication with colleagues, only its reverse side. But what about general hangouts, conversations at lunchtime, new acquaintances? You won’t get all these charms on freelancing. I am not an extrovert or an introvert, but some kind of ambivert monster, so on the one hand I regret not working in a team, and on the other, I enjoy my loneliness. Therefore, I do not know whether to attribute this item to pluses or minuses.

  • floating schedule.

If everything is clear with work, you sit and do your main duties from morning to evening, then couples at the university are usually made up of ardent haters of time management. Example: I have to work from nine, and classes only start at three in the afternoon. The problem is that the road to the university takes about an hour, and during the work process I simply do not have this hour to spend it on the road. And sitting in the dining room for 6 hours ... Not cool at all. I share a hack.

Find some good cafe near the university and work there quietly, and then change the location.

I usually choose Starbucks or Surf not only because I am addicted to coffee. Firstly, there are always free sockets, and Wi-Fi catches without interruption. And secondly (and most importantly) you can take a glass of coffee and sit there for at least 10 hours: the waiter will not approach you, politely asking “anything else?”, As if gently hinting that it would be time to honor know.

  • Situation.

For freelancers, it is simply non-working - you sit at home in an armchair, drink tea, knock on the keyboard. Of course, this can get boring too. But sitting in seminars, simultaneously trying to do a work assignment and answer a teacher's question, is not very cool. On the one hand, it develops multitasking, which is good: you can eventually turn into Julius Caesar. On the other hand, you can confuse everything in the world, screw up the work assignment and blurt out some utter nonsense at the seminar. How to adapt? First, honestly, it takes time.

It is convenient in this case to start not with work, but with an internship: this is the same job, just in a lighter mode and, most likely, not every day.

Over the course of a few months of internship, I adapted to such “distractions” in class, I understood when it’s okay to let the information go past your ears, and when it’s worth leaving online business for a couple of minutes and listening to the teacher. Secondly, if it's hard to concentrate and you need to work, put on headphones. Yes, this is not very polite to the teacher, but a familiar melody will help you collect your thoughts in a heap. If possible, grab a laptop and leave the office for a while - just not for 40 minutes, of course.

  • Self-organization.

Freelancing can be a real challenge for those who don't know how to plan. If you like to do everything at the last minute, and sometimes you just forget about training deadlines, deciding: “Oh, it will do!”, Then it’s better to deal with it first, and then take responsibility in the form of work. But, in fact, I myself am not a god of planning. Let's deal with him.

Planning

Believe me, you will need a diary. If everything is structured enough in your head, and your thoughts do not get confused every minute, you can get by with a regular calendar on your phone (you can enter all sorts of events there by date and time). And if you, like me, are always floundering in numbers, deeds and information, it’s better to take any notebook or even a notebook and start making out a diary. You can make a bunch of different lists / trackers etc. in it, or you can get by with the usual schedule. More about how the diary, we have already written. So here I will just explain the main points to you.

  • Break big things into small ones.

This is the first thing I took out for myself, faced with a bunch of deadlines for my studies. Deadlines, deadlines, and no one canceled the work. What to do, Houston? Walk in small steps. Kursach in 60 thousand characters? How much literature should be read for it? .. It sounds scary, and I don’t really want to take it on. There is a book in front of me, and it has 800 pages. Without it, the course cannot start, but 800 pages ?? But in each part - 100. 100 is generally some kind of nonsense. I bookmark at the end of each section and force myself to read 100 pages. 100 to 8 times is not scary at all. But 800 at a time is somehow creepy. Even though it's the same book.

  • Write down everything you need to do.

Nothing invigorates like the deadlines painted on the page. In fact, when you keep everything in your head, it may seem that there are a lot of them, and you don’t want to start them at all. But as soon as you write them out, put down the dates, figure out which of the works it would be better to start as soon as possible, and which one you can take your time with, everything will fall into place.

  • Find time for something else.

Work mixed with study is an explosive mixture, but you don’t want to reduce life to only these two components, right? Homework, of course, must be done, but it is not at all necessary to spend all your free evenings and weekends on them. Write down in detail when and what you will do, forget about procrastination on social networks, and you will see that you will have time for walks with friends, favorite hobbies and learning something new.

How to combine work and sports? We have prepared several recommendations for those who are wondering "how to do everything at once"?

The life of many athletes is not only endless training. The vast majority of amateurs and professionals in the field of sports have a main job. It can sometimes be very difficult to break out of the work routine and conduct a workout: there is absolutely not enough time and energy after a hard day’s work, and I really don’t want to miss sports, because where there is one missed workout, there is a second one, which is then extremely difficult to compensate.

What to do? How to combine work and sports? Of course, some lucky ones can boast of a free work schedule and unlimited time for training, but, unfortunately, not everyone is lucky. We have prepared several recommendations for those who are wondering " how to do it all at once»?

Important: even if you find time for sports, do not forget about the most important things - nutrition before and after training. Remember that muscle growth is more than 80% dependent on what and how you eat.

1) Some athletes have the opportunity exercise in the morning, before work. But there are some nuances here - you can’t train hungry, as before 2 hours after eating. It is also undesirable to be late for work, and with such a schedule, you will have to get up for training at 4-5 in the morning. What to do? After all, before physical activity, you need to sleep and be full of energy. There is a solution – despite the fact that breakfast should be the most nutritious meal of the day, on the day of training, simplify the menu to a protein shake immediately before training.

Many people ask themselves the question - is it necessary to have breakfast before a morning workout, or can you get by with a cup of coffee and wait for lunch in order to have a good meal after physical activity? We have an unequivocal answer to this question - you need to have breakfast, and you need to do it efficiently, but without loading the body with heavy, poorly digestible food.

In order for your breakfast to bring only benefits to the body, energize you for the whole day and provide you with a feeling of satiety for a long time, we recommend adding Herbalife oat-apple drink to it. The drink can be used as a standalone addition to your usual breakfast, or combined with a Formula 1 Shake or Aloe based drink and Herbalife Herbal Drink. This healthy, high-carbohydrate breakfast is perfect for those who are struggling with being overweight, as well as maintaining optimal functioning of the digestive system.

2) The most influx of athletes in the gym usually starts at 19.00, after work. At the end of the day, closer to 21.00-22.00 there is a decline in activity. The most convenient time for training, the only thing that can interfere is fatigue after a working day and laziness. Many want to quickly come home, have a quiet dinner, relax and unwind. If you overcome your laziness, evening training will be the best option. After training, you should definitely have dinner, reducing the amount of simple carbohydrates and not overeating. Therefore, try to cook meals for dinner that are low in fat and carbohydrates. Chicken breast, lean meat, fresh vegetables are the ingredients from which you can cook many delicious and healthy dishes.

3) Some athletes choose lunch break workout, time is allocated for it in any organization. This is an ideal option: you can have a normal breakfast and a hearty lunch after class. The main disadvantage is the lack of time. The lunch break usually lasts an hour, and, unfortunately, it is not always possible to conduct a high-quality workout in an hour: not everyone has a gym close to work, you need to get to it, have time to change clothes and warm up, work out, warm up again, change clothes, take a shower and be sure - eat.

4) When work on weekdays categorically does not allow you to train, there is a way out - weekend workouts. But here, too, laziness can overcome you, because days off are given to a person to relax. On weekends, you can gather a group of friends and acquaintances who will be happy to keep you company - it’s more fun together, and hours of training will not ruin your weekend, but, on the contrary, will improve your mood, provide energy for the whole day and give you confidence.

Today, the life of every woman rests on three "pillars": work, home and family. Many in a constant hurry live on autopilot: they run to work in the morning, from work in the evening, then to the store, then to pick up the children, then at home the race continues - washing, cleaning, cooking, doing homework with the children! And this whole marathon continues day after day!

What about your hobbies? Sewing, knitting, scrapbooking, felting and more? Wouldn't you like to stop, sit down in a cozy chair and pick up soft balls and knitting needles? And then loop by loop, row by row, knit the conceived masterpiece to the surprise of all relatives and friends?

And how much moral satisfaction and happiness you will get!

Science has proven that a person who finds time to engage in his hobby feels happier, more confident and in demand. And no matter how you think that the modern rhythm of life does not leave you the slightest chance to do what you love, this is not at all the case! Just try to properly distribute your time throughout the day.

Many lucky people successfully combine hobby and work, and some have turned their hobby into their main occupation, which is the main income. To be honest, making a hobby my main job is also my dream (so far, unfortunately, I'm only going to this)!

So, what does it take to pursue your passion without sacrificing your main job, and also without harming your home and family?

First, take a picture of your day. This is done very simply: you need to write down all your actions during the day, and side by side how much it takes your time.

Now analyze and prioritize.

Is the TV eating up the lion's share of your free time? Just do not turn it on and you will see how many free hours are freed up for creative work! Well, or another option, you can combine watching your favorite programs and, for example, embroidery or knitting.

The main thing is not to be bored! Learn new techniques, move from simple to complex, improve your skills! Fortunately, now there is a lot of information - tutorials, videos, master classes - the Internet to help!

And having stuffed your hand and having trained “on hares”, go to a new level! Go to the Internet, register at the so-called hand-made fairs and sell your exclusive! Thus, you can get not only pleasure from the process, but also a well-deserved monetary reward!

Believe in yourself!

Develop your technique, use non-standard materials and do not limit your imagination! High-quality and interesting hand-made goods are very popular, their prices are growing every day, and there are more and more customers.

Work without hobbies turns your life into a miserable and monotonous existence! Enjoy every day!

Love yourself and do only things that are interesting for you, because life is so beautiful and so short!

Difficult life situations sometimes force us to work twice as much, namely, two jobs at once. Working 8 hours at the office, we return home and take on a part-time job, and our husbands, instead of relaxing on weekends, get behind the wheel of their car and “taxi” all Saturday and Sunday. Such a rhythm of life is so exhausting that sometimes you want to quit from everywhere at once, spitting on money and need.

Russian legislation does not prohibit us from working in several places at the same time, it is enough just to arrange part-time work, which, as a rule, is carried out on a contractual basis. The work book at this time is kept at the main job. If an employee performs his duties efficiently and on time at all duty stations, then the authorities will not have any complaints against him, but the employee himself will have a lot of problems. For a rare hard worker, such a combination is easy and simple, most part-time workers really tear themselves up, do not sleep at night, absorb coffee in liters and curse everything around. Such workers also face difficulties when it comes to vacation: it is far from always possible to take a break from two jobs at the same time. So it turns out that such a person may simply not have a vacation.

There are many reasons that make people work in several jobs at once: this is a banal lack of money, and the desire to change their occupation, as well as open their own business.

Someone, even becoming an entrepreneur, continues to work in the office, realizing that his business is only developing and cannot yet bring a stable income. The daily worries of an accountant of a small firm are replaced by evening meetings with clients who sign up for makeup and hair. Such a whirlwind draws a person, and after some time he can no longer work effectively either at the main job or at the additional one. In such a rhythm of life, it is very easy to lose yourself, get depressed and really get sick. If you find yourself in a situation where combining two or more jobs is simply necessary, then you should pay attention to our recommendations - with their help you can correctly plan your time and save such fragile mental health.

Remember the reasons

The feeling that everything is done for good reason can spur on new achievements.

Always keep in mind the idea of why you need it - why did you get a second job, what will it give you and what result will you get at the end. The feeling that everything is done for good reason can spur on new achievements. For example, in the evenings after the main work, you become a designer who completes his orders via the Internet. Why are you doing this? Most likely, in order to subsequently completely switch to a remote form of work or open your own design bureau in your hometown. Whatever goal you pursue, always remember it, so that one day you don’t start to hate both jobs.

Rest on the weekend

Do not try to make all days of the week work, you must have days off. Let it be only 4-5 days a month - you can’t ignore them in any case. And try to spend the weekend with the maximum benefit for your mental health: be lazy to the fullest! Walk, watch movies, meet friends and don't think about work for a minute. If possible, it's best to turn off your phone altogether and forget about the Internet.

Talk to superiors

Feel free to discuss with your superiors the issues of a convenient work schedule for you. Of course, not every boss wants to enter the position of an employee, but there are much more adequate and understanding people than “ordinary tyrants”. Therefore, take courage and tell your “part-time” supervisor that you need an individual work schedule, but you undertake to complete all assignments efficiently and on time.

Assess your strength

Not everyone manages to work effectively in several places at once.

No matter how strong your inspiration is, try to realistically assess your capabilities. Not everyone manages to work effectively in several places at once. Some people have to make a choice in favor of one or another type of income, because they simply cannot combine two or three jobs. Perhaps you will understand this after a month of exhausting work. The main thing is to be able to listen to yourself and not ignore the abilities and needs of your body.
