We know a lot of expressions, ideas wise thinker philosopher Confucius. But do we understand them all correctly? I would like to write about one of his words that touched me: “Cowardice is knowing what to do and not doing it.” What does this saying mean?

Many people think that cowardly people are stupid. But it's not. They know when to do something, as well as when it's better to step back and not ask for trouble.

These people want to help a person who is in trouble, but realizing that they are in danger, they retreat. And as you understand, such people are extremely unreliable and cannot be relied upon.

Consider an example from the work of Eugene Onegin. The protagonist Eugene accepts the duel simply because he is afraid of falling in the eyes of people who love him and consider him perfect. He makes the wrong choice and brutally kills his friend.

Unfortunately, there have been and are many examples of people who are ready to hide in order not to risk with themselves. How many people died in the war because of one person who chickened out in front of the danger of being killed.

Confucius' expression is very accurate. I believe that every person should compare their actions with this expression. And when you change, everything around you will change.
