The shape of the medal has already been approved: it is a disk with a diameter of 40 mm, a thickness of 3 mm, of golden color. On the reverse there is a relief image of an open book framed by two crossed laurel branches, on top - the inscription "For special achievements in education". The medal will not give the applicant any advantages in admission, but its presence will be taken into account only ceteris paribus.

The Moscow authorities decided to keep the tradition of awarding medals in schools, as they believe that this is an additional incentive for schoolchildren to study better.

Meanwhile, a group of deputies and senators introduced State Duma bill that supplements existing forms encouraging schoolchildren for special achievements in their studies, as well as in physical culture, sports, social, scientific, scientific and technical, creative, experimental and innovation activities. The bill is planned to be assigned to the federal executive body, which performs the functions of developing public policy and legal regulation in the field of education, the authority to determine the conditions for encouraging a gold medal and a commendable diploma.
