Biographies Characteristics Analysis

Every teacher should have. A real teacher will make an unloved subject a favorite

What qualities should a teacher have? This question opens before us an abyss of others: which teacher? For what and to whom? Qualities personal or professional, and which of them is more important? For example, can a teacher be required to love children, or is it enough that he treats them with respect and teaches his subject well? Should a teacher be a sociable ringleader? Which teacher is better - kind or strict? Which one will be more successful - a rebel or a conformist?

We can endlessly argue, argue and prove. This is because there is no “spherical teacher in a vacuum”. Each teacher exists in a specific social, economic, cultural situation where he has certain goals and needs certain qualities to successfully achieve them.

What should be the ideal teacher? Maybe like this? Frame from the film "The School of Rock" (2003)

And if you do not argue, but ask others: what qualities of a teacher do they consider important? Such a conversation will help some participants in education to look at others in a new way.

Once again, we were able to verify this a little research undertaken in 2015 by 11th grader Gohar Sargsyan. Goar spent it among high school students, their parents and teachers of the Shchelkovo gymnasium (the city of Shchelkovo, Moscow region), where she herself studied. The purpose of the study was to compare "the requirements of the state, reflected in the professional standard of the teacher, and the needs of society to identify the priority qualities of the teacher."

Or like this? Frame from the film "We'll Live Until Monday" (1968)

There is a document that defines the list of professional and personal requirements for a teacher on the territory of the Russian Federation - this is a professional teacher standard, which entered into force on January 1, 2015. Based on these requirements, it is possible to identify those qualities that the state would like to see in a teacher.

It is always interesting to compare official expectations with real life. This is what Gohar Sargsyan decided to do.

The idea for the study came from observing students and teachers. different schools. At that time, I had already decided to become a teacher myself and wanted to learn more about the profession. Seeing that sometimes even the most talented and inquisitive children lose interest in learning, I decided to find the root of the problem and how future teacher, to model the image of the ideal teacher. The image of a teacher who will help students become better.

More than a hundred high school students, 40 parents and 25 gymnasium teachers took part in the survey. elementary school, middle and senior level. All respondents were asked to freely answer the question: “What qualities should an ideal teacher have?”

Respondents independently named or wrote down the qualities and explained what they meant. The answers were systematized in summary tables.

Ideal teacher for students

100% of the students who took part in the survey believe that the ideal teacher should be strict and patient. Also, all the students-respondents were unanimous in the fact that the teacher should be able to interest the material.

80% of respondents - for an unbiased attitude on the part of the teacher and individual approach(“everyone wants to be judged fairly and helped to achieve better results”).

The students explained the word "fairness" as an assessment based on knowledge, not nationality, appearance etc. Approximately the same words describe tolerance in the answers of other respondents.

Ideal teacher for parents

For all interviewed parents, the ideal teacher is one who knows his subject perfectly. As a separate quality, 100% of parents indicated "love for their profession and children."

In the questionnaires of parents, an item appeared that the students did not single out for themselves: indifference.

Indifference was explained by parents as a sympathetic attitude towards students. A caring teacher, firstly, always makes sure that the children have learned the material, and secondly, provides emotional support when necessary.

Ideal teacher from the point of view of… teachers

But the teachers seem to be sure that patience and work will grind everything. 100% of the surveyed teachers of all levels - for excellent knowledge of the subject and patience.

But the main thing is that it was the survey of teachers, according to Gohar, that turned out to be the most interesting part of the study for her.

After talking with the teachers, learning about their feelings, I saw them from a new perspective. Most of all, I was struck by the teachers, who, instead of the “correct” words suitable for the situation, spoke honestly and frankly about all the complexities of this profession. It turned out that in teaching practice there are many situations in which an inexperienced person is simply confused. And all that can make a good teacher out of a person is indifference. “If you have a desire to make the world a better place, then this is for you,” a computer science teacher said to me about the teaching profession.

Gohar compared all the answers of her respondents with the requirements of the professional standard. The result turned out to be consistent. Unless, of course, no standard can require a teacher to have a sense of humor, indifference, love for children and patience. But people in their non-standard, living human relationships have the right to expect this from each other.

My study did not give a fundamentally new answer, but it showed me how important personal qualities are for this profession: my respondents spoke about personal, not professional qualities.
Now I am studying to be a teacher, I have chosen a specialty foreign language. What qualities of a teacher do I single out now? The ideal teacher is not a template model. It's interesting, charismatic, educated person, charged with creative energy, which brings up the same active, caring and thinking children.

And we propose to continue the conversation on a given topic. What qualities of a teacher are valued in your environment? Which ones are right for you?

Good teacher- this is probably main feature by which we define the school. But what a good teacher should be, sometimes it is not easy to answer even to yourself. A good teacher can be different: an elderly lady with a kind heart, and a fidgety university graduate, but he must be a person in his place. Competent, mentally adequate and able to transfer knowledge to the student. "Mel" has collected 12 signs, as it seems to us, of a good teacher. Not that all of them are mandatory, but usually a good teacher knows all or almost all of this in practice.

For those who work at school and love their profession very much

1. A good teacher asks questions often and knows how to listen to answers.

This is an absolutely universal skill that highlights many aspects of teaching at once. A good teacher does not ask students stupid questions that do not need answers (“Petrov, why are you under the desk? Tear you out, or what?”). He does not ask intimidatingly difficult or formal questions that make the blood run cold (instead of such questions, he can use requests. For example: “ Prove the Riemann hypothesis". Smile).

A good teacher asks questions often, one might say, they are his main tool. And his questions always arouse greater or lesser interest, at least among some of the students. These can be slightly leading questions or such questions that, as it were, open up before the students a view of the further educational “road”. His questions simply cannot remain without an attempt to answer, at least mentally.

2. All students in a good teacher's class are people.

It will be superfluous to remind that a good teacher does not humiliate students physical punishment, bullying, scolding, does not troll them, does not incite one part of the class to another. These are the basics. But a genuine such teacher also knows how to treat normally those who for some reason do not like his subject. And he knows how to give a fitting rebuff to students who are trying to fight him for power in the classroom or to mock him.

Even if the student is a real enemy whose goal is to suppress and humiliate the teacher, a good teacher will not use his methods in the fight against him. Because where, again, will such a psychopathic student learn other methods of interaction if the teacher does not give him an example?

3. A good teacher uses the properties of his temperament to the benefit of the case.

We know that he can be a man with nerves of steel and an icy eye. And he can be a fidgety bastard and a caustic wit. And maybe a sedate lady with a slow mind and a kind heart. Or a young blushing girl. Absent-minded autistic professor, peppy crowd entertainer ... Anyone.

One thing is important. Whatever a good teacher in his psychophysiology, he always falls into his own plate. He makes for himself such a world in which he looks appropriate and natural and where the spectrum of his normal reactions and emotions works in plus. In the classroom of such a teacher, students tune in to “his” atmosphere. They calm down, but do not slow down, but better absorb the material, it “wakes them up” and even makes them laugh, but they are not naughty and, again, absorb the material better. Silence? Better concentration. Violent controversy? The search for truth.

Not a very good teacher, his temperament can interfere, and he easily burns out. The character of such a teacher always “clings” a little, touches educational process. On the contrary, the character of a good teacher is always clearly inscribed in the work, it serves as a lubricant for it, so a good teacher does not burn out so quickly. And all because he is realistic about himself and does not try to look better or remake schoolchildren.

4. A good teacher is an honest, noble person

Well, with children and especially teenagers, there is no other way. It must be said that in modern Russian school to remain honest and noble is sometimes not easy. But, as practice shows, it is possible. And there are people like that in our schools. Please breathe, dear teachers!

Frame from the film "Teacher", 2013

5. A good teacher has some kind of life, except for school-subject

For example, he loves modern art-house cinema or teaches at the university… Or all of these at once. Of course, there are among good teachers those who live exclusively for the school. But let's look at the matter from the other side: such teachers, as a rule, arrange for themselves a varied and complex life in the school itself. Lead some kind of circle or theater. Go skiing with students. That is, a school for them is not only a school, and this is a suitable version of the same “to have a different life, except for the subject and class.”

6. A good teacher has a sense of humor

No, we are not about to joke and joke, to poison stories and suck up to children. Humor is a synonym for the concept of "adequacy to the state environment". That is a sense of humor broad sense- this is the ability to manage the situation or adapt flexibly to it, look at it broadly, extract unexpected meanings. Sometimes, why not, these meanings are funny.

Dancing is known to be the best prevention of insanity, as the dance requires a lot of urgent little movements in order to adjust to the partner. The brain works very intensively as a result. The work of a good teacher in the classroom is also such a dance, only he has a couple of dozen or more partners.

7. A good teacher is an adult

Whatever, but an adult, already mature. A good teacher is not equal to his students, even if their age difference is several years. He is qualitatively older. This is manifested in his ability to take responsibility for the momentary situation in the classroom, and in the case of elementary school - for the long-term atmosphere in it.

He may get angry, even break loose, may not hold back laughter or other "inappropriate" manifestations. But what definitely never happens is situations of his impotence. He chooses his reactions, and not the students provoke him to them. In the presence of a good teacher, there are no informal class leaders, there is only one leader - himself.

Frame from the film "Teacher", 2013

8. A good teacher knows how to transfer knowledge along with emotions.

It is assumed that he has this knowledge and these emotions, that is, a good teacher knows and loves his subject. The information itself has no special value and is not remembered. Physics will have to fall in love first, and only then learn. To be able to convey emotions, you need to have empathy, to be able to give out this information “in the language” of the listener.

In general, this point is probably the most important. This is the essence of what a good teacher does in the classroom: fall in love with his subject. Of course, not everyone, although it also happens that, as a result, the whole class is rushing to enter the biological faculty and medical science. The contrast between the enthusiasm of one teacher and the boring serving of a lesson from others is too great. And in any case, even those who “do not like biology”, if the biologist is a good teacher, listen to him with pleasure, which means they will learn at least something.

Frame from the film "Teacher", 2013

9. A good teacher is a survivalist in the school environment.

School is a place where everything is done slowly and wrong. The efficiency of teaching and learning at school is low, the teacher is littered with a pile of papers, the kids, colleagues and bosses get it, the pay is low - it seems like it’s not up to ideals. Our mythical hero knows how to maneuver between all these pitfalls, achieving some kind of effectiveness of his lessons. He does not despair and does not believe that he can do nothing. He does not merge borders, uses diplomacy, saves his space and time. He knows from experience: even from such rubbish as modern school may grow something good. And grow as best he can.

Frame from the film "Teacher", 2013

10. A good teacher is not burned out

Everyone is at risk of burnout, but main character of this text has the instinct of self-preservation, which, with all the devotion to the profession, will not let it wear out to complete zero. It happens that a good teacher for some time enters the first and even the second stage of burnout (fatigue, apathy, emptiness), but always finds a way to replenish his strength and not reach the terrible irreversible stage number three, at which all students will forever seem like idiots, bastards and enemies. And point five helps a good teacher to replenish his strength - about a different life outside of school. Well, the ninth point is the ability to maneuver and give yourself a break. Otherwise, he will not survive.

Frame from the film "Teacher", 2013

11. A good teacher is smart in a way

It is important that in some sense. He doesn't have to be an intellectual. He may even be intellectually inferior to his students. Probably, it is important not to be limited, that is, to understand with any amount of mind that there is still a lot, very much, beyond the understanding of the teacher. And it is desirable to want to go there with your students. Or at least not prevent them from doing this path themselves.

There are good teachers of very modest abilities who absolutely lack the stars from the sky and are well aware of this. Stars grab their students.

Frame from the film "Teacher", 2013

12. A good teacher does not think only in terms of school categories.

A good teacher will not assume that three years of a teenager's life should be completely devoted to preparing for the exam. He is calm about formalities, of which there are so many in school life. He understands that there can be many reasons for not wanting to learn. And not all of them are subject to immediate eradication. Accepts that not all students must necessarily love the school, his subject and him personally.

He distinguishes malicious mess from the working mess, disturbing noise from the working rumble. In general, he slows down a lot, otherwise he will not hold out and not focus on the main thing. He does not pull the children over trifles and does not pull on them himself.

A teacher is a person who teaches and educates students. But, of course, such a definition cannot reveal all that a teacher needs to do and for which he is responsible during the educational process. And not everyone can become one. It is necessary for a person to have special type personality. What qualities of a teacher help him in transferring knowledge to other generations?

Professional readiness

Briefly list the qualities of a teacher, they will be as follows:

  • love for children;
  • humanism;
  • intelligence;
  • creative approach to work;
  • high civic responsibility and social activity;
  • physical and mental health.

Together, they constitute professional readiness for pedagogical activity. It distinguishes psychophysiological and theoretical and practical aspects. They describe the requirements for determining the competence of a teacher. Pedagogical competence is the definition of the theoretical and practical readiness of the teacher to carry out his professional activities. At the same time, the requirements for an elementary school teacher are somewhat different from other teachers.

Qualities of the first school teacher

AT modern system education, the concept of "primary school teacher" has become more widely used than before. If once its functions were limited only by what it gave basic knowledge children, now his field of activity has expanded significantly.

Therefore, the requirements for the qualities of a teacher primary school now the following:

  • he is not only a teacher, but also an educator;
  • must know the psychophysiological characteristics of children;
  • he must be able to organize the activities of his wards;
  • the teacher actively interacts with children and their parents;
  • readiness for constant self-development;
  • the teacher must create optimal conditions for learning;
  • helps students interact with the environment;
  • owns modern methods learning.

The primary school teacher is not comparable with the teachers of the middle and senior levels. Its functions are even wider, since it is always class teacher and teaches several disciplines. Of course, the qualities of a teacher, both professional and personal, are important.

What skills and abilities does the teacher have?

What should a teacher be like? This is determined by the standards that are prescribed in the Federal State Educational Standard, as well as the qualities listed by others. famous personalities in pedagogy. For example, such an employee must constantly educate himself and improve his skills. Professional quality teachers identify the following:

  • a broad outlook and the ability to correctly present the material;
  • training taking into account individual characteristics students;
  • competent, delivered speech and clear diction;
  • the ability to use facial expressions and gestures during performances;
  • focus on working with students;
  • the ability to quickly respond to situations, resourcefulness;
  • the ability to correctly formulate goals;
  • must have organizational skills;
  • quality control of students' knowledge.

Important qualities of a teacher are his knowledge and skills acquired during his studies and during his professional activities. He should also be able to apply them in his work as a teacher.

Personal qualities of a teacher

It is very important that the teacher had a theoretical base, which is the basis of the educational process. But even if a person knows everything about raising and educating children, he may not become a good teacher. What should be a teacher from a personal point of view? A qualified specialist is defined by the following qualities:

Leading abilities in pedagogical activity

  1. The activity of the teacher is of a successive and promising nature. Having the knowledge of past generations, he must master modern techniques and follow new trends. The teacher must also see personal potential students.
  2. Interactions between a teacher and a student are subjective-subjective in nature. The "object" of the teacher's activity is a group of students or a pupil who at the same time are the subject of their own activity with their own needs and interests.
  3. AT educational process it is difficult to appreciate the contribution made by all those involved in the upbringing and education of the child. So pedagogical activity is collective.
  4. The process of upbringing and education takes place in the natural and social environment in which it is difficult to take into account all the factors. Therefore, the teacher has to constantly create optimal conditions for learning.
  5. Pedagogical activity is creative. The teacher has to constantly look for non-standard solutions for the assigned tasks, various ways increasing the motivation of pupils. Also, the mentor must be proactive, observant, he must strive for excellence.
  6. All professional activity teacher is built on humanistic principles: respect for the individual, trust, the ability to empathize with students, faith in the child's abilities.
  7. The teacher cannot immediately see the result of his work.
  8. The teacher is constantly engaged in self-education and improves the level of his qualifications, that is, there is continuous learning.

The teaching profession involves constant interaction with large quantity people, namely children. He must be able to organize their activities and keep their attention in class. The teacher must know the psychophysiological characteristics of each age period children and put them into practice. Also, the teacher must be able to cope with a large amount of information.

Or maybe it's a calling?

It is difficult to determine what is more important: to get Teacher Education or love children and have a sincere desire to teach and educate them. For many, teaching is not a job, it's a calling. Because if you want to build trusting relationship with a child, you need to stay a little small yourself.

A teacher should be like a child who is always interested in everything, who is always in search of something new. And being a teacher is a great talent, you need to be able to discern in each pupil his potential and help realize it. Also, the teacher must be highly spiritual and cultured person in order to bring up the right life guidelines in their wards.

Essay

What should a teacher be like for his students?

A teacher is not only an educator,

A teacher is a friend of a person who

Helping our society to rise

To the highest level of culture.

Ya. Kolas

The position of a teacher is excellent, like no other, “higher than which nothing can be under the sun,” wrote the great teacher Ya.A. Komensky. Even as a child, the word "teacher" made me irresistible desire connect your life with this wonderful profession. Teacher... What is behind this familiar word? Even Anton Pavlovich Chekhov wrote: "A teacher should be an artist, an artist who is passionately in love with his work." I agree with this statement. But where do we, teachers, draw inspiration to be both an educator and a teacher, an artist and an artist? Only in oneself, only in the consciousness of the greatness of one's work, only in love for children! To teach and warm the soul - that is the essence of the teaching profession. Unlimited love for children, goodwill, sensitivity, attentiveness, the ability to correctly assess the pedagogical situation and quickly find best option does the job of a teacher necessary profession. Speaking about the relationship between a teacher and students, we all understand that they cannot be equal, due to age and life experience. But in one respect, equality between them is indispensable - in the degree of sincerity. A good teacher for his students should be best friend and assistant. The teacher must know and respect the interests of his students. The teacher must be able to listen and understand the student, to find the right approach to him.A child is a fragile flower that needs care and help. And the teacher is a gardener who knows about every flower in the garden. This one is strong and strong, but the first frosts can destroy it if not hardened. And this one is quiet and inconspicuous, but it can become fairy prince if conditions are created for it. The teacher should to some extent become like his students - put himself in their place, understand what they are interested in learning, and what, on the contrary, is boring. A teacher is something high, important, and at the same time, something close and dear. That's the kind of teacher I try to be for my students. At the same time, a good teacher should be strict, kind, demanding and cheerful. This helps create a warm, inviting microclimate in the classroom. Thus, there is every chance to achieve the respect of children. And if there is respect, then there will be mutual understanding and obedience. Mutual understanding… What could be more precious for any teacher?! And it is not easy for a teacher to get recognition from children. Little people can't be fooled. Here you can not do without sincerity, openness, special morality in relationships. If a teacher is a friend to a student, then together they can move mountains! I try to build relationships with my students on mutual understanding, because opening up to the child and gaining access to his inner world, the teacher thereby pushes the boundaries and enriches the content of his own "I". Only in a benevolent atmosphere can a talented teacher fully realize his potential and open up any, even the weakest student. The teacher should love all children: noisy and quiet, obedient and capricious, neat and slovenly. For the simple reason that they are children! Love, trust, understanding and kindness - best qualities teachers in dealing with children. We must not forget this while the child is in need of communication and emotional contact. You must always support the student, even when he does not succeed. It helps build self-confidence and makes you want to learn. For me, in the first place is the child with his interests, desires and opportunities! I try to interest the student, surround him with warmth, in order to properly educate, guide him along the right way. After all, only the teacher whom the children respect, love, whose way of life they secretly or openly imitate, educates.

To the children and his subject keeps our teachers in school for a long time. The profession of a teacher is one of the most stressful, a person is constantly in emotional stress. The ability to endure such loads is one of the requirements of a teacher's professional suitability, which brings this matter closer to what should a teacher be like in order to become not an ordinary, but a good teacher, to whom students come long after graduation?

give hope

The most important quality without which a good teacher is unthinkable is faith in his students. Not so often, but still sometimes we see how a strong belief in the best in a child makes a strong good student, or even an excellent student, out of an inveterate threesome. A brilliant teacher is not a winner of competitions, but a winner of students' laziness, their despair. This is someone who knows how to give hope even in difficult situations. What should a teacher be like? The most important quality is to see the intellectual and moral potential in a child.

The team as a big personality

Working as a teacher requires special sensitivity, caution, sensitivity to the mood of children, the ability to understand children as a team as a whole, because large group children gathered together, it's like one person. Experienced teachers know that each class has its own identity. What works in one team may not work in another. Therefore, a teacher who knows how to guess the best strategy and tactics of behavior with different teams will be a good specialist.

relationship professional

What should a teacher be like to deserve the title of an excellent teacher? Building professional human relations. If the teacher does not have a relationship with the student, this is a sign of insufficient formation of this skill. It is very difficult to choose and maintain the correct distance so that on the one hand there is no coldness, and on the other hand, so that the student does not adopt an over-familiar model of behavior. Partnerships are possible only with high school students, but at the same time, the student must remember that he is the junior partner, and the teacher is the senior.

Consistency as a guarantee of respect

What should a teacher be like for students to respect him? Thinking, doing and saying the same thing. A teacher can be authoritarian, harsh, wayward, but if his words do not diverge from his deeds and thoughts, the students will still respect such a teacher. There will be many who will feel sympathy for such a teacher. It is very important to be fair so that the students are sure that the teacher does not give grades in accordance with likes and dislikes. In this case, the transparency of the grades given by the teacher helps a lot. When a student knows the requirements and sees how they are implemented, he feels much calmer. This gives him the feeling that his performance directly depends on his efforts. Increases motivation and self-confidence.

To be a good teacher, you need to meet many requirements. Not everything works out right away, but over time, every person who enters the profession can learn to become a teacher with a capital letter.
