Think globally, act locally on ecology. Think globally, act locally

08:19 11-12-2015

On December 10, a youth discussion on the topic “Thinking Globally – Acting Locally” was held at the office of the Eurasianists - New Wave Foundation, during which participants in the Foundation’s youth projects discussed how to write essays correctly and design their projects.

Alina Dzhanetova outlined general points on how to write essays and why they are needed within the framework of the AKM and IEC classes.

The purpose of the essay is to develop skills such as independent creative thinking and written presentation of their own thoughts.

Writing an essay is extremely useful because it allows the author to learn how to clearly and competently formulate thoughts, structure information, use basic concepts, highlight cause-and-effect relationships, illustrate experience with relevant examples, and argue their conclusions.

Most hot topic for an essay young specialist is the theme "Me and my career". The topic of the essay is given so that it is easy for the commission (employer) to assess the features of your thinking, Creative skills, enthusiasm and potential. The best way to achieve such a result - to write directly and frankly, remaining honest with oneself. If you are not honest, there is every chance that your writing will be considered unnatural.

The structure of the essay is determined by the requirements for it:

Arguments are facts, phenomena public life, events, life situations and life experience, scientific evidence, references to the opinions of scientists, etc. It is better to give two arguments in favor of each thesis: one argument seems unconvincing, three arguments can confirm and reinforce your thoughts.

Thus, the essay acquires a circular structure (the number of theses and arguments depends on the topic, the chosen plan, the logic of thought development):

introduction
thesis, arguments
thesis, arguments
thesis, arguments
conclusion.

When writing an essay, it is also important to consider the following points:

The introduction and conclusion should focus on the problem (in the introduction it is put, in the conclusion - the opinion of the author is summarized);

It is necessary to highlight paragraphs, red lines, establish a logical connection between paragraphs: this is how the integrity of the work is achieved.

Presentation style: the essay is characterized by emotionality, expressiveness, artistry. Experts believe that short, simple sentences of various intonations, skillful use of the "most modern" punctuation mark - a dash - provide the proper effect. However, the style reflects the characteristics of the individual, it is also useful to remember this.

To practice skills public speaking, the participants tried their hand as speakers at the debate on the topic: Do You Need a Ministry of Youth for Youth itself. Participants of AKM and IEC, within 2 minutes, tried to convince all the participants of their point of view.

Also, within the framework of the meeting, the youth suggested topics for discussion and holding lectures, trainings, business games on them:

1) Fighting corruption in Kyrgyzstan: problems, world experience, what youth can do (round table);
2) What foreign policy beneficial and necessary for Kyrgyzstan (lecture-discussion with an expert);
3) Political socialization of youth in the Kyrgyz Republic: risks and untapped opportunities (round table);
4) Youth policy in the Kyrgyz Republic: does Kyrgyzstan need a youth ministry, and what should it be like? (round table)
5) Youth employment: problems and solutions (lecture);
6) Who should be the richest population or state? (debate);
7) financial literacy for youth: loans, investments, financial pyramids (training);
8) How to work with information from open sources (training);
9) Business ideas for youth (Meeting with young businessmen);
10) Time management for students (training).

The road of civilization is paved with tin cans.

To date, the relevance of the issue environmental safety can be traced at the regional, national and global levels.

The significance of this issue is due to the deterioration of a number of key environmental indicators. According to the website statistic.su, the top five countries with the most favorable environment includes: Switzerland, Latvia, Norway, Luxembourg and Costa Rica. Unfortunately, Russia this list takes only 106th place (among 132 participating countries!!!). However, measures to improve the environment in the Russian Federation are being taken. (So, for example, on April 29 from the press service of the Ministry natural resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation received information that from April 22 to April 28, 781 unauthorized dumps of municipal solid waste were liquidated in the country).

However, in order to significantly improve ecological situation in the Russian Federation, it is necessary to build this problem to the rank of priority.

According to ecologrf.ru, the main environmental problems are deforestation, air pollution, acidification of the oceans and pollution fresh water, global warming, melting glaciers. Another the most important factor, affecting the ecology of the country, are unauthorized dumps of MSW (solid household waste).

It is on this ordinary and such a topical problem that I would like to dwell in more detail.

Many of us rely on bad ecology and inefficient cleaning of the city/village/district from garbage. However, there is hardly a person who has never thrown garbage in the wrong place. Some do it unconsciously, others - on purpose and systematically. And what is the result? Landfills, rubbish, dirt.

On this site in the forest, children play ball

From this follow two eternal Russian questions: who is to blame, and what to do? It turns out that everyone who does not adhere to elementary environmental norms and rules is to blame, and there is only one way out of the situation - to regularly hold subbotniks and stop throwing garbage in the wrong places.

In order to improve the ecological situation in the city of Shadrinsk, from April 15 to May 15, the traditional month of sanitary cleaning of the city is held. In order to get more complete information About the work for this period, I turned to the head of the administrative and technical inspection of the city of Shadrinsk Sormachev Alexei Anatolyevich.

- Dear Alexey Anatolyevich, tell us more about the month of cleaning up the city.

On the this moment all institutions of the city have planned work to clean up the surrounding areas. Work on the street. Sverdlov is being conducted by the public. (Representatives of Tyumen State University cleared the territory from Volodarsky St. to St. 4 of the Ural Regiment, students of SHAMTA cleared the territory on the site from Stepan Razin St. to Shchetkin St.). City schools also accept Active participation in the traditional month. We cooperate with a small enterprise "Spetsavtotrans", which is engaged in the removal of garbage from the streets of the city. This company provides transport, but loading must be done on its own. Garbage from the private sector cannot be taken out into the territory of the city. You should take it out on your own in a car with a canopy (so that the garbage does not scatter through the streets of the city). As part of the community work day, you can take a free ticket to Spetsavtotrans (at 20 Avtomobilistov Street) for free entry to the dump.

Officially, the subbotnik will end on May 15, but what measures will be taken to clean up the city after it ends?

Cleanliness and order in the city must be observed all year round whether it's winter, spring, summer or autumn. Free garbage vouchers will expire on May 15, but each of us must take care of cleanliness every day hometown. Residents, as well as individual entrepreneurs, should “heartache” for cleanliness and order in the city of Shadrinsk.

I talked about the environmental situation in the city of Shadrinsk with Anatoly Gennadievich Sychugov, head of the housing and communal services department.

- Anatoly Gennadievich, describe ecological situation in the city of Shadrinsk.

First of all, I would like to note two main components that can ensure a healthy ecology of our city. This is the timely removal of solid waste and a decrease in the number of stray dogs. Despite the fact that we have an agreement with the Center for the Protection of Animals to catch stray dogs, the number of stray animals is still exceeded. The environmental danger posed by homeless animals lies in the spread of zooanthroponoses and the possibility of infection with rabies.

Organizing subbotniks and monthly clean-ups of the city, of course, gives a noticeable result. I also believe that subbotniks should be a "labor holiday" for citizens. If all tenants of apartment buildings come out for a clean-up day, and residents from the private sector put things in order in the territory adjacent to the house, then the city of Shadrinsk will be transformed.

Every resident of our city should know that “it’s not clean where they clean it, but where they don’t litter” .

An example of a reverent and even fanatical attitude to the problems of environmental security are such countries as China and Korea. In the territory Russian Federation propaganda is also required careful attitude to the ecosystem. In order for the city of Shadrinsk to remain clean, the citizens must observe a certain internal ecological culture.

But where is it - ecological culture? I decided to talk about this urgent problem with Gubina Galina Vladimirovna, a methodologist in educational work SUN of Shadrinsk.

- Galina Vladimirovna, tell us more about the ecological culture of the townspeople.

In general, culture (including ecological) should be instilled in children in childhood. However, today many young parents are busy and do not have enough time to explain elementary things to their children. environmental regulations behavior. I am deeply convinced that culture comes from the family.

In order to avoid unauthorized dumps, people must learn to take care of their surroundings. I want to note that a special program has been developed at the state level for patriotic education. The results of this program should be actively used to improve the environmental and civic culture. It will be clean in our city when the ecological culture for each inhabitant becomes a habit, a dogma, a rule.

A conversation with people competent in the field of city ecology prompted me to the following conclusion - the responsibility for the ecological situation of our cozy provincial city should lie both on the city administration and on the shoulders of every Shadrinsk citizen.

Taking care of the environment begins with taking care of the cleanliness of your home, yard, district, city, region. From the love of cleanliness and order, care for nature, as well as from the daily habit of removing trash and garbage, a true ecological culture can develop, which will serve as a guarantor of the preservation of the ecosystem of our city, country and planet as a whole.

"Think globally, act locally" - proclaimed a quarter of a century ago in the Club of Rome, believing and hoping that local actions taken in accordance with system views about the environment as a whole in the aggregate will avoid ecological disaster. At the same time, global thinking was supposed to not only serve as an incentive and guide for actions, but also help to choose the means used, ways to achieve goals.

An analysis of the events of past years forces us to state that the principle of the "Club of Rome" has not had any noticeable effect on practice. Almost all specific environmental actions are directed by local interests (or national, but for the purposes of this analysis, everything that is not global will have to be considered local), justified by local assessments, and, most importantly, carried out without regard to environmental losses from the standpoint of the biosphere as a whole. As a result, a unit of environmental result obtained in one place is paid by more than a unit of total environmental loss in all those places where energy and materials are received, where waste is sent, where transport passes, etc. Of course, it is difficult to measure environmental results and losses, but this does not justify the absence of real attempts to obtain such estimates and use them in decision making.

Nevertheless, implicitly environmental assessments are used all the time, and above all in cases where the local environment is improved at the expense of the biosphere. At first glance, the main role is played by economic assessments. Indeed, let the goal be to reduce emissions at some enterprise, reduce pollution in the city, carry out "repair" of the disturbed ecosystem, etc.; planned necessary measures, money is allocated, the sources of everything necessary for the production of work are determined, naturally, the most economical, cheap, etc. Any economist will say: how could it be otherwise? However, if in this case the environmental damage in the "sources" exceeds the result, then, consequently, the cleanliness factor environment there it is estimated lower than at the range of environmental activities, the safety of "foreign" ecosystems, biospheric effects, and at all receive a zero rating.

Is it necessary to prove that this approach has nothing to do with global thinking, and yet it is he who dominates. Even in cases where global goals are proclaimed (and at least partially achieved) (for example, protection of the ozone layer), the inadequacy environmental assessments and non-environmental economics lead to very significant distortions of environmental policy and its results.

So, global ecological thinking does not yet have a significant impact on local environmental, especially general economic actions. Moreover, these actions, as soon as they are relied upon precisely as local ones and are built into local structures (administrative, informational, financial, technological, logistical, etc.), strongly influence the consciousness of their performers, locking it in purely local realities, from the specifics that correspond to global thinking.

However, to prevent an ecological catastrophe, actions are required that follow directly from global analysis, and all too often they are not consistent with local short-term interests, or even completely contradict them. If all environmental tasks were reduced to reducing the flow of pollution and eliminating their "accumulated stocks" and were possible technical ways implementation of such an approach, global thinking could be limited to some abstract - educational functions. However, the problem is incomparably more difficult.

Global Approach must have a strong theoretical basis to influence acceptance specific solutions. As shown above, as such a basis, it is preferable theory of biotic regulation of the environment.

All hopes for preventing an ecological catastrophe are connected with the fact that the perturbed state of the biota caused by man has not yet led to irreversible changes in the biosphere and we will have time to return to the area below the threshold of permissible impacts on it before such changes occur.

Arguments that man is a rational being, and therefore biological laws have only an indirect and, as it were, partial relation to him, make no sense in relation to our topic, because we are talking not so much about a person as about the biosphere, and its laws are directly and completely related to everything that happens in it, including with a person.

It would be possible to talk about a partial exit from the scope of these laws only if a person could at least to some extent take on the functions of regulating the environment with his own technical means. However, not only are there no such means, but they are most likely unattainable in principle, as follows from the theory of biotic regulation of the environment. The fantasies that a person can live in built environment, isolating it from the destroyed biosphere. Therefore, in the regulation of the environment, a person can only rely on the capabilities of the biota, and the prevention of an ecological (more precisely, biospheric) catastrophe requires, without alternative, that a person return over the threshold. allowable impact to the biosphere.

Thus, the main and, in fact, the only global environmental problem is to reduce the human impact on the biosphere to a level consistent with the laws of its sustainability; other ecological problems are automatically resolved together with this one or after it. This implies a criterion that, in principle, must satisfy all actions taken in human civilization on this stage its development: only that which, taking into account all the indirect and conjugated effects, reduces the load on the biosphere, is admissible.

Concretization of this criterion in relation to actions in social sphere(from family planning to structure government controlled) is a task of extreme complexity, especially if one remembers that "frontal" decisions, neglecting inertial factors, primarily national and religious ones, only harm the cause. It must be assumed that it will take more than one decade to solve it.

However, it seems that there are no particular obstacles in order to give the criterion a quantitative certainty in relation to the economic sphere and introduce it into general practice in the near future. The restriction of the market assumed in this way can in no way have destructive consequences for it. On the contrary, the market will very quickly adapt to such a limitation, and the adaptation will manifest itself in the fact that the economic estimates produced by the market will finally include a significant (and, moreover, universal) environmental component. All economic efficiency criteria continue to operate within this limitation. This will undoubtedly help those who act locally to align their actions with global perceptions and will be an essential step towards creating an economic mechanism for sustainable development.

To return the biota to an undisturbed state, it is absolutely necessary to preserve the undisturbed ecosystems that have survived on Earth. Meanwhile, the national interests of countries - owners of undisturbed ecosystems, interpreted narrowly economically, as a rule, are pushing towards " economic development"of the respective territories (the exception is partly Canada - a highly developed country where a transition to an intensive type of development has been made and an economic climate has been created in which interest in the development of new territories is significantly weakened). According to standard economic logic, nothing prevents these countries from destroying the remaining they have ecosystems for the sake of economic benefits - albeit momentary, but which seem necessary for solving national problems (raising the standard of living of the population, reducing unemployment, socio-political stabilization, etc.).

Considerations of justice also determine the legitimacy of the question: why is it that what made the rich rich not repeat to the poor? However, it is precisely this logic that leads to a biospheric catastrophe.

But according to ecological logic, it is no longer possible to repeat this now if humanity wants to survive, and rich developed countries should understand this before anyone else.

It follows from this that the preservation of intact ecosystems should become one of the main concerns of global thinking. Appropriate measures can be taken within the framework of a new international environmental and economic mechanism, an element of which should be the previously discussed criterion of ecological acceptability.

The end of marketing as we know it Ziemen Sergio

Think globally, act locally

While I strongly believe that you need a centralized strategy, course, and centralized goals, I am also a firm believer in decentralized execution and tactics. You can't make all the decisions in New York if you want to sell your products in a hundred countries around the world, or even in all 50 states, because every market is different. There are different competitors, different economic environment, different consumers. In every market, you need local organizations led by local managers who can find mutual language with local buyers.

Anyone who has traveled or even studied history knows that the French are different from Italians, Mexicans from Guatemalans, Brazilians from Argentines. Even if they have common boundaries, and sometimes a common language, each country has its own customs, myths, history, demographic composition, economy and problems. All these factors, intertwined, form a peculiar canvas of each country. And on this canvas, as on a canvas, you must draw your brand in such a way that it meets the aspirations of the local market, so that it is understood and recognized.

The only way to ensure this on a consistent basis is to have local management, agency, local manufacturing, local wholesalers and trucks delivering your product to stores. You also need a local sales manager, local retail outlets, and you need to keep abreast of what's going on in those markets so that you never lose touch with your customers.

Starting activity in new country, you can sometimes be blinded by the initial high demand for your products. You open a store, something is sold at first, but in reality you are only skimming the cream. The initial volume of sales is due to the fact that you are heard a lot from others, whether you are a manufacturer of cigarettes, soft drinks, or transporting people on airplanes. But if you do not communicate with consumers in their "dialect", in their local conditions, sales will most likely begin to decline, and one cannot even dream of growth.

I remember our disappointing entry into the Eastern European markets. When fell Berlin Wall, we saw that we could enter these markets and compete through the distribution system. We believed that all we needed was to give consumers free access to our products. In those days, we liked to talk about affordability, affordability, and acceptance as the three pillars of success. Acceptance meant that consumers would accept, not reject us. Affordability meant that consumers could afford to buy our products, and physical availability meant that the product was within reach. When all these three factors are present, consumers will not go anywhere - they will buy. For a while, this principle worked, but after a while, consumers stopped, as if telling us: “Okay, persuaded me, I buy a product from you from time to time, but why buy more?” And when competitors appeared on the market and offered alternative options, consumers began to rush from side to side.

In every market, you need local organizations run by local managers who can connect with local buyers.

I remember fluctuations in our market share, reaching 10-15 points; they scared me a lot because they pointed to the lack of sustainable demand. All this happened for the reason that we did not study the market enough. We didn't have local management. We did not have necessary information about consumers, and we didn't fully understand the economic and political conditions in local markets. We had no local experience with consumers, and we did not know what drives them, which is why there were big problems.

To survive and grow, you must convince people to buy more and more of your products, and to do this, you need to adapt your brand to the local culture. You must be prepared to make the necessary investments and employ local people. When we at Coke did all this, we had a better understanding of what was going on in each market and were able to proactively tailor our operations to the local conditions of each market.

The key point here is that the only way we know of knowing when and what to change was the establishment of a separate, independent business in each market. This allowed us to see when our efforts are fruitful, and when we are just throwing money away. It could also determine how many marketers we need. Since we kept track of income and expenses for each brand in each market, we could evaluate their return. If people are productive, let there be more of them. You only need to know when the work is effective and when it is not. And you can't know if you don't keep records.

Over time, you may want to develop regional or even global programs. But this should be done only when it leads to expansion of the business, and the only effective way expansion of programs - through the development of local markets. You must be effective locally before you consider globalizing your operations.

This, quite general, phrase reflects the principle of success, which is followed by many prominent people based on your experience. Success, as you know, is a capricious thing and you need to adhere to certain principles of life in order to achieve it.

AT broad sense it doesn’t matter what your goal is to learn to dance or buy an apartment, get married or learn how to drive a car, the main thing is to think globally, broadly, but act locally. This seemingly simple advice is actually quite difficult to implement in practice. How often, instead of goals, we have only ethereal dreams in our heads, which will remain dreams! Self-doubt, lack of understanding of where you want to go, lack of specific goals and ways to achieve them - all this prevents you from achieving success.

How does the principle of “thinking globally” work?

By global thinking, we mean the scale of plans and, most importantly, an understanding of the ultimate goal. You must be clear about what you want to achieve. Moreover, do not compromise with yourself, do not settle for less, but honestly admit to yourself that you need only the most best result– and only this can be considered a success! Thinking globally means building the most daring and optimistic plans (mind you, not fantastic, but bold).

Toward a big goal with small steps

None of the more large-scale and significant goals will be achieved in one step. It is always necessary to break down the goal into subgoals, subgoals into stages, and even then, step by step, do what you need to do for your success. This is what “acting locally” is: striving for something big, significant, sometimes it even seems unattainable, we must act here and now, with what we have at the moment.

Don't lose sight of your goal

To achieve success, it is very important that the goal you are going towards is always in front of your eyes: every time you take some action, you must ask yourself the question: “How will this help achieve my goal? What benefit will it bring? Will it bring me closer to success? When you think globally, you kind of see the picture from above, you can strategic plan many moves ahead.

Review your goals

Yes, it's paradoxical, but true: as you go towards your goal, test it for "desirability" from time to time. It is possible that the path of achievement will be too thorny, or until you reach the goal it may turn out that now this is not quite what you wanted ... Do not be afraid to admit to yourself that you were going the wrong way, because in any case, it's better to happen sooner rather than later . Think globally, act locally and fear nothing - then success will surely come to you!
